Product used: Spectro (AcneCare)

Pros:

nothing

Cons:

made my skin red
white residue left on skin
did not get absorbed well

This was a bad product. I bought it because I did not want to wait/pay for shipping for Acne.org product but found I really should have. This product did nothing for my acne and did not work with Dan's regime.

Pros:

Didn't do Anything

Cons:

Dried skin
Got more acne

About half a year ago I used this stuff, before I got a real prescription from a doctor. This stuff didn't do a single thing, at all, nothing, for my skin-besides making it dry. The bottles I had appeared to be really dilluted, as if they use way to much water to save money- maybe I was putting it on wrong, I don't no. But the bottom line was that it didn't work for me.

Pros:

Was good back then

Cons:

Changed the formula and it f**ked up my face. And its way too expensive its like the rich peoples Pro Active made by the same company

Too harsh now for my skin. Used to love this stuff. I think it was the toner. But anyways if it works for you great.

Pros:

none

Cons:

no effect, expensive, wierd smell for clarifying lotion

I have just used the clarifying lotion and soap; both to no effect. I have used them for more than six months now, but there has still been no change in my acne. that was about forty dollars down the drain, all for wierd smelling liquid and regular soap.

Pros:

clears acne, sort of. i used the cleanser and the lotion for a while and it cleared my skin up a bit.

Cons:

leaves skin extra dry, and smells like pool cleaner. lotion ever leaves skin dry?! weird.

acne free would be good for some one with light acne, useless to those with cystic acne or moderate acne. good face wash though but not that great of an acne wash. if you know what i mean,

Pros:

The soap is amazing & overall your skin feels really clean afterwards. Also the customer service was good - it is nice to see a company that still seems small and intimate. Oh and free samples with purchase of their moisturizers!

Cons:

I broke out in places I never had before, had pimples different from what I usually have, cause my face to feel sunburned/looked sunburned on occasion, takes a long time to go through the process.

I read the directions and followed them PERFECTLY. I have used the product for 6 months, washing my face with just the soap in the morning and using the soap/scrub/washcloth+soap every night. i never missed a time! It started out blowing my skin up...I'm talking embarassing cystic acne that I had never experienced. Suddenly it made my acne go from moderate to severe. After about a week it calmed down, thankfully. However, I developed acne in places I had never had it like my jaw right beside both of my ears. In addition, I developed an overwhelming amount of bumps (you know the clustered pimples that make your skin uneven, but never seem to go away) all over my forehead. My forehead was my one safe place that did not develop acne! Besides breaking out in random places, a few times it actually felt like it burned my skin. I've used Kern's BP and other BP products and have just had dryness--no reaction like this. When I put moisturizer on it afterwards, it felt like I was burning my skin even more. I had very high hopes for this product, and as a poor college student I felt like I was dishing out too much money, but was desperate! I am in the process of getting my money back, which hopefully occurs. I tried the product for 6 weeks and have given up. Hopefully my skin can heal from this.

Pros:

Not too expensive... big bottle?

Cons:

HUGE BREAKOUT /RASH /BURNING SKIN /REDNESS!!!

BROKE ME OUT TERRIBLE! PPL IF YOU WANT YOUR SKIN TO LIVE DON'T USE THIS TREATMENT! as soon as i started using the product my face broke out in tiny little pimples EVERYWHERE! and my face was super RED and SORE from all that HARSH scrubbing! Im so dissapointed with this product that now I am trying to find something different to "undo" the damage that this product has done to my face... If you do try this product dont get your hopes up too high.... :(

Pros:

Made my complexion look better. Fast replies to enquiries. Didn't dry my face. Easy to use. Reasonable pricing. Generous amount of product, it'll last a while.

Cons:

Didn't control my breakouts. My acne is worst since i've started using this product. At first the product was alright, but with further usage the product started to irritate my skin.

Try it, there is a refund policy. But for me it didn't serve its purpose and I intend to exercise the refund policy.

Pros:

The one I used was tinted. Yay?

Cons:

When I squeezed it out of the bottle, it was so liquidy like lotion. I dabbed it onto my zits, and all it did was create more zits around it. It doesn't work in 4 hours- let alone 4 weeks. Don't use it. Waste of money.

Don't buy it. It doesn't work. It's true. The texture is gross, too.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
