Pros:

-clears out break outs fast

Cons:

-doesn't smell good
-very strong
-can dry out skin if there are no pimples on it

It is a great product for teen acne. If your skin breaks out on a certain area, use this and it will immediately clear this up. I tried it on big individual pimples, and it was really slow.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Made skin oily
Made skin burn
Didn't work

I went online and took the quiz to see what kind of products I needed. I used it for a month and my skin was so oily and it burned so bad. Don't waste your time.

Pros:

Everything really. I personally like that they're a small company and not owned by P&G or Unileaver.

Cons:

A bit pricey, but worth it. You may just have to sort through their products and see what works best for you (which is easy because they'll send you heaps of free samples with every order).

I've tried nearly every one of their products and really it all comes down to what works best with your skin. In all honesty, the only thing I really like and keep coming back for is their bars of soap. I've tried the face wash and the benzoyl peroxide irritated my skin and killed my towels. Their lotions are nice, but the oils in them made me break out a bit more. All in all, what I do now is just simply use their bars of soap to wash my face and I've been nearly zit free for years on end.

Pros:

It works, simple

Cons:

A little bit drying on your skin

Ive used it for over 5 years. I am middle aged, but still had the occasional breakout. This is the best thing that has worked for me. You can manage your shipments, and change them at any time. I get a shipment about every 3 months for about $49, with 2 cleansers and one toner, and it lasts me well. I wish they had this product when I was a teen. Everyone's skin reacts differently, but this is at least worth a try for you I think.

Pros:

-It feels nice on your skin
-It gets rid of small pimples fast
-Refining mask is great! I put it on big pimples over night and they look better in the morning.
-I can see a difference in my skin already :)

Cons:

-Dried out my eyes and area near mouth.
(be sure NOT to use around eyes and mouth!)
-Made my skin bright red the first few days, but it goes down.
-Gave my cystic pimples but those also went away fast.
-Dries my skin out.

I like proactiv. If you use the product correctly, you will be rewarded. If it makes your skin too dry or red when you first start it, it's because your skin needs to adjust to the BP so you should only use it twice a week until your skin adjusts (thats what happened with me). But if your allergic, thats a different story. Anyways, it's working for me.

Pros:

Quality Ingredients
Sped pimple drying

Cons:

Dried skin
didn't prevent future breakouts

I love dermalogica products and really wanted their acne line to work, but while using the Clearing Skin Wash, Oil Control Lotion, Overnight Clearing Gel, and Special Clearing Booster, my acne continued and the only difference I noticed was increased dryness between breakouts. Fortunately this final acne line made me desperate, so I googled 'acne' one day and found acne.org. I've been clear of acne for FIVE MONTHS!

Pros:

When i use this cream my acne tends to rage for 5-10 minutes until the cream takes effect and reduces redness and angriness of it.

Cons:

I started out with moderate acne and began using this cream to find my acne had got severe, also it tends to make my skin very dry and itchy.

I did not find this cream helpful at all really, it made my acne much worse than it was!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
