Pros:

It does clear your skin if you have really bad acne

Cons:

however its no good if you just have mild acne, I mean I only get pimples small ones when I'm on my period but ever since I started using proactive I started getting cystic acne on my chin (which never happen to me before).

I agree that the commercials make it seem like its a miracle product, well it isnt. I mean I dont want to use a product all my life in order to have clear skin, I just want the one pimple I get every now and then to disappear faster. I personally think that the medicine on proactive makes your skin very sensitive if you stop using it, like you'd get oily skin or break out easily if you don't use hte product. Its a huge catch if your skin only has mild acne. So don't get it unless you really need, buy some neutrogena it works better for just mild acne.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Made my skin MUCH worse. Dried out my skin causeing scarring.

I used the entire system (5 pieces). I never had major acne, just a few areas that I wanted to clear up. After using this over-priced crap I will be lucky if I can get rid of the scars it left. Do not buy this product, hollywood hype and high prices do not make it work.

Pros:

NONE!

Cons:

Expensive, after I received the second set it stopped working.

The first time I tried it it worked great! Then when I received my second shipment I used it the same way and I started to get like an itchy little invisible bumps on my face. I couldn't see them but I could feel them, I also got acne in places I never had before. My skin was oily to start and it made it even worse. I received the third shipment and sent it back but I have to pay for shipping, It has been a month since I sent it back and still no refund, so I called proactiv today I was told I had an allergic reaction to the product, and was told it takes 6-8 weeks for me to get my refund. Oh, and they tried to sell me the "gentle" formula! DON'T USE IT!!!

Pros:

Still trying to figure them out

Cons:

I now have massive bumps on the side of my face and neck that hurt like hell. I never use to have these before.

Proactive is no miracle worker. Its a gimmick like most other products out there. It may work for some but definitely not for me. My face is the worse its ever been since i started using Proactive. I have gone back to using my ever faithful neutragena products.

So, I've been using quinoderm for what must be nearly ten years now, back when the packaging was just white with black writing and it came in one size one strength. I'm 28 now and when I use the creme every morning and every night all over my face and heavily on the T zone I suffer very rarely the occasional spot intrusion. Nothing else has given me the same results!! Heres the thing! You become very dependent on quinoderm (at least I did)!! If I miss an aplication, morning or night, I'm pretty much guaranteed a hard core out burst (thats after ten years). Maybe if I'd never used it I would still suffer from acne, but maybe I wouldn't, I'll never know. I gave up on antibiotics as they are said to prolong your acne into later life and drop your imunity!! After nearly ten years now it is getting a little tedious the constant and demanding routine. But all that said, I am in this moment acne free, so you chose, maybe some of you out there can use it and lose it.. It certainly works.....

Pros:

kept away whiteheads, blackheads, typical zits
keeps oily skin from being shiny

Cons:

Caused cystic acne
stains fabrics
potentially cancer causing

Acne.org Benzoyl Peroxide is the best BP product I've tried. I used it for about 3 years. The problem that I faced and the reason I stopped using it was because I started getting occasional cystic acne around my chin and jaw line after 2 years of use. The rest of my face was doing quite well. Had very few if any whiteheads and regular zits. I stopped using Benzoyl Peroxide when I moved to France, where it isn't legal over the counter, anywhere in the EU for that matter. I decided I wasn't comfortable using a product that has caused cancer in animals, or stains my clothes, towels, and sheets. Since going off Benz. Peroxide, I haven't had any cystic acne, but my face is more clogged overall, my forehead isn't as clear as it used to be. I am in the process of searching for an alternative that combats my oily/shiny skin and keeps away whiteheads/small zits.

Pros:

makes your face soff

Cons:

does not work
skin gets to oily
does now prevent further breakouts

this product does not work. ive been using this product for about a year now, it did clear a bit of my acne up but thats it. if you have moderate+ acne this is a waste of time for you.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
