Pros:

Works really well, will clear up pimples

Cons:

Dryness

I used this product a couple years ago and wasn't patient enough to let it work.. Now i'm giving it another go around and I love it. It's clearing up my skin very nicely. Only complaint is the dryness so after the repairing lotion I use my arbonne night cream (before bed) that helps a lot, plus the arbonne is an amazing cream in itself! I actually just use it before bed, and in the morning I have an oatmeal/honey/almond facial scrub I made which helps slush off the dry skin. My skin just looks better and better everyday! Hope it works for you!

Pros:

It didn't sting my skin badly or cause lots of redness like so many other acne medications have done.

Cons:

It is not an overnight product, when it comes to how quickly it clears up acnce. Also, I don't care for its scent.

This is one product that I really tried to stay faithful to but couldn't. I like that it had a lower percentage of benzoyl peroxide. However, 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is a slow worker and I just am a bigger fan of higher strength benzoyl peroxide products than this super lower low strength instead.

Pros:

i used this product for 4 months straight- it seemed to work for the first month- but after i was back to regular acne.

Cons:

stopped working, and you need a side moisturizer- because this product will dry out your skin. plus it burns a little.

I'm 18 with a hormone inbalance and weird cycles (cause my combonation moderate acne) + dry skin and it did not work for me... so i stopped using it and now use dove white bar soap = persa gel 10 by clean and clear and clean and clean moisturizer- and im noticing a difference due to the persa gel. Proactiv maybe it works better for others, but not so for me! its up to you to try it.

Pros:

It does get rid of pimples for the most part.

Cons:

It burns, it hasnt gotten rid of all of my pimples, my face is peeling like a lizard.

Its good if you dont have sensitive skin, you have to use it religiously or there's no point at all. It has gotten rid of 75% of my pimples and I've only been using it for 5 days. Im at the point now that my face burns BADLY from it and my skin is peeling. Im going to try it for about a month and if nothing changes from this point give up. Its worth a shot.

Pros:

Clears skin fast!

Cons:

None so far.

My experience with this product has been consistently excellent. It clears my skin fast and keeps it that way, even the blackheads are completely gone after just a day or two. I use it at night only. For some reason, this is the ONLY benzoyl peroxide product that really works for me. I have tried multiple brands and none of the other products clear my skin quite as fast as this one. Not sure why... Not complaining, though. :)

Cons:

completely dried out my skin to the point i had blotchy red marks all over my cheeks, the driest part of my face. and constant stinging of the face with out even touching.

start with small applications to let ur skin adust to the amounts of acid, if skin is sensitive.

Cons:

it didn't do anything, and for such an expensive product, it really should have!

Pros:

cleared some of my adult acne, but I can't say more because I have been using it only for 8 days!

Cons:

The smeell is really annoying!

I have been using brevoxyl mixed with Avene diacneal (this was the prescribed tratment from my dermatologist) for 8 days now and I am pleased with the results. I don't really have that much acne, but the last months I had a hormonal break out, especially on my chin, which kind of weird because when I han real acne in my teens (I am 34 now), I only had ance on my cheeks. Anyway I was very depressed of my latest skin condition so after trying some products I finally decided to go to the derm. So far I am very pleased with the results. But I must mention that I do not use brevoxyl on its own but in conjuction with avene diacneal.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
