Pros:

~Did not dry out my skin.
~Night cream does very good job at reducing pimple size.
~Cleanser actually makes your face feel clean!

Cons:

~Small lotion sizes.
~That's about it, other than the fact that the price is a bit too much judging by the lotion sizes.

I really have seen a bit less redness on my skin in only the first two days, but pimple wise, there is no improvement YET, but I have hope!

Pros:

So strong, feels like something must be working

Cons:

Dries out the skin. Skin stings afterwards. Skin goes red and patchy. Skin feels heavily medicated, no moisture, tough, RAW!

Wouldn't reccommend it at this stage, but going to give a go for a bit longer to see if it gets better. Still got new acne showing up. Doesnt make the skin feel good at all, cant be good for it. Very strong.

Pros:

Gets rid of redness, decreases the size of pimples, dries quickly, skin looks so much healthier, very effective, inexpensive.

Cons:

there is no such thing as PERFECT. It can be a little drying, but that's how it works. which is why you should never forget to moisturize after applying the Benzoyl Peroxide.

This is the only product that has ever worked for me as I am sure it will work for you if you repeat the steps carefully as instructed by Daniel Kern. Yup, Dan's the Man :) I cannot thank you enough.

Pros:

unscented, easy to use, eventually works

Cons:

slightly expensive, takes a while to work

I started using Pro-activ about 2 months ago. I had moderate acne and had been seeing a dermatologist to no results. So i finally decided to give proactiv a try and at 1st it made my skin much much worse. I called proactiv & they insisted i keep it up, that it was drawing the bacteria out of my skin. sure enough they were right!!! After about a month and a half, my skin is just about clear, with the occasional pimple. For those who want to quit after a month, stick in there, it works.
July 7, 2007

Pros:

The hope that it might work.

Cons:

It made my skin way worse.

I had very mild acne to begin with and after using the product for almost four weeks now, my acne is worse than it has ever been. I called the Proactive company twice and both times the people reassured me that 'everybody has to go through that phase' of the acne getting worse or that it is 'drawing out the acne so that it can kill it.' After reading other reviews, I just went and washed the Proactive off of my face and will stop using it for good. I hope that my face will clear up shortly! Proactive made my face much, much worse!

Pros:

REally has helped with acne and rashes on face. Not as abrasive as some prescriptions I have used in the past.

Cons:

none that I have experienced yet.

I use it most every day and night. I don't wash forthe whole 2 minutes and I don't scrub my face to hard with the clenser therefore makeing it not as abrasive. It's been the best think I've used since I've had acne problems.

Pros:

Helped get rid of on sight acne but doesn't really prevent new ones. Helped my skin feel smoother when i followed the system everyday.

Cons:

not much of a long term effect. The "Club" thing you end joining will continue to mail you the 3 set system so you can end up with too much unused products... waste of money.

worked ok for me, might work for you. there are cheaper things out there that probably work better than this. Don't listen to the hype.

Pros:

This product works as soon as its applied. The repair lotion works really well against pimples.

Cons:

None

Extremely recommended

Pros:

Works okay at first....but ONLY if you use it every day and night....would be good as a last resort for SERIOUS acne. NOT for people with occasional outbreaks.

Cons:

Eventually changes skin consistency. Makes your skin dryer and more leathery and dependent upon daily use of pro-activ!

DO NOT use this if you don't have serious acne. I had occasional zits and thought pro-activ would make my skin better. However, Pro-activ completely changed my skin....making it greasier at times, dryer at times and more wrinkly and leatherish. It was like my skin "required" pro-activ to make it clear, when before I could just use any old face wash. It does get rid of some zits but beware that it will change your skin- but not for the better!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
