Pros:

clearing my skin :)

Cons:

very expensive

ive just recently switched from proactiv to the clinique three step, and i have to say the difference for me is quite remarkable, the redness in my spots is nearly completely gone, my face already feels a lot smoother. All in all im glad i spent the extra money on this, especially if it keeps working the way it has been already. I also got a free mascara and 'take the day off' makeup remover. :)

Pros:

Prevents new breakouts

Cons:

Does nothing for already existing acne
Does nothing for acne marks
Did not clear up my skin

I would only reccomend this product to prevent acne, not to fight already existing acne. As I stated above, it does nothing for already existing acne or acne marks but it did keep new breakouts at bay. Therefore, for acne sufferers, it leaves you just as bad/good as you started.

Pros:

Skin feels nice after wash
Reduces black heads and pimples!

Cons:

At first after washing skin feels a bit dry

I've never really had bad acne and never really had many pimples until recently. My face broke out badly on one side of my face and then the other side was beginning. I wanted to try the whole 3- steps solution and so I did and I'm glad I did cuz my face has never felt smoother and it got rid of my little problem. I suggest a moisturizer after it cuz it may feel a bit dry. Oh and every once in a while, at least 2 times a week after washing face use a scrub, then apply the lotion. :)

Pros:

not oily, nice texture.
Reduces redness and inflammation
Anti aging

Cons:

none

I love this cream. I use retin a micro and reversa (glycolic acid) about 4 times a week. For the rest of the week i am always looking for a great moisturizer that will calm the redness and flakiness without breaking me out. This one is just perfect. Really calm redness and irritation from retin a micro. Moisturizes very well (eliminates flakiness) Not oily, doesn't clog pores. Anti aging My skin definitely looks better when this cream is part of my regimen. Right now my acne is very well controlled with retin a micro and diane 35. I dont think this cream would cure acne on its own, but i think it is a wonderful moisturizer that helps me tolerate my acne meds better. With this cream, i can use my retin a up to 4 nights a week and my skin looks perfectly calm (no redness) and perfectly moisturized.

Pros:

*Eliminated some acne :l
*reduces redness
*nice smell

Cons:

*Only worked for 2 weeks, then my skin became immune to it
*Does nothing for blackheads
*EXPENSIVE >:(
*Doesn't last 2 months like it says on the box

This product was a scam. It got my hopes up, then stopped working completely

Pros:

My skin wasn't oily
Improved acne a little bit

Cons:

Didn't help my huge blackheads
Did nothing for cystic acne
Expensive
Time-consuming

I used Proactiv for three years. It was okay, and my acne was improved a little bit. I still had large, awful blackheads constantly, and I broke out a lot on top of that. I don't mind paying for acne treatments, but it was very expensive - too expensive for something that hardly worked at all. Finally I got tired of the big, inflamed blackheads that took months to go away and came back immediately, so I stopped using it. The only good thing about it was that my skin was never oily, which was a pretty big plus for me. Even so, I wouldn't recommend it.

Pros:

I don't get whiteheads, just occasionally some blackheads which is normal. The skin is less oily which is good.

Cons:

over applying the toner and lotion makes my face reddish and sensitive to sun and sea water.

For me, the cleanser and sulfur mask are the only thing i found it effective. Toner and lotion are rubbish. The good thing is that they can be bought separately which is good.

Pros:

-very clean feeling
-clears skin well at night

Cons:

-very oily feeling

I have very, very oily skin to begin with, and it seems that Pacnex and the other two meds I am on (Ziana and Doryx) it making my face soooo much oilyer. But all in all any of the GOOD meds like these are just doing there job, by making your face "breakout" the pimples have to get out of your skin, and these meds are doing so. PATIRNCE plays a big part in taking any prescribed medicine. I have only been taking for 16 days, and I am seeing a little bit of difference for the better, but they have a long way too go.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
