Pros:

The whole experience was a PRO.. I did not have one negative side effect. It cleared my severe acne in a matter of one week. I would highly recommend Pro Active to anyone having slight to server problems. This also works for body acne… very well.

Cons:

NOT a single one!!!! other than other people putting it down... it gave me my life back..

When I turned 30 I started having serious acne problems for the first time in my life. It covered my entire cheek, nose and chin area. Then it started covering other parts of my body.. My bra line, my panty line.. All I could do was stay in the house and cry. Make up wouldn't cover it up' and neither would a hat. I hated when my husband looked at me' I wouldn't have my picture taken with my kids' every picture my husband took of me I would delete from the camera' I lost one year of memories with my family.. People would say things like 'Oh, Leanna honey what happened to your beautiful face?' What they didn't know is how I would go home and cry my self to sleep every night.. I hated looking at my self in the mirror.. Then one day a friend of mine who had had acne her whole life' was perfect' it was all gone and she told me she used Pro Active' so I called and within one week' my face didn't hurt any more.. By the end of that month I was back to my old self!

Pros:

It cleared up my face very quickly, in about a week.

Cons:

I use only the repair lotion now, but must buy the whole kit.

I never had acne till my thirties, I've been breaking out for over a decade now. Nothing helped, especially for the monthly breakouts. After A week with this product, a friend commented on how clear my face was. Finally, something that works consistently and without irritation!

i wish they had this product back in the market. try it.

Pros:

Price

Cons:

Harsh, bad reaction

I tried the 30 day trial of Proactive and did not like it one bit. I used it twice to wash my face at night and by the third morning I woke up with a horrible, itchy, red, ugly rash all over my face and neck. I am trying to find a solution to solving this problem because it is very embarrassing and annoying. I guess I should have tested a small amount on a discrete area of my neck but since I have no prior allergies to the ingredients listed and did not have a bad reaction initially I thought this product might actually work. I will stick to over the counter medicines and remedies for my acne from now on ' Neutrogena has worked for me in the past. I guess I never should have switched!

Pros:

Smooth, gel consistency, dries quick and clear, not flaky, not clumpy under moisturizer, not over-drying.

Cons:

Only available online; therefore, you must pay for shipping, which isn't cheap.

I've used other BP's and this is by far the best!! The consistency is perfect, just be sure to use a good moisturizer. The slower you apply it and let it absorb, the better. I use half of a finger's length amount twice a day and I'm completely clear. The other brands that I've used in the past dry white and clump up but this does not. Great product.

Pros:

it smells good, doesn't cost too much, bottles aren't ugly looking, the cleanser has a good balance of exfoliants and creaminess to it, the lotion isn't greasy at all and it feels great on your skin

Cons:

sometimes the toner burns a teeny bit afterwards but as soon as you put the repair lotion on the burning goes away instantly, have to keep using it or else you'll break out again once you stop

It works pretty well. If you skip a couple of days of using it you might break out but not horribly. I used to break out from playing sports and ever since i started using proactiv i haven't had a problem with playing sports. it's great...i would personally advise people to use this. Only problem is that it has benzoyl peroxide in it ... although i'm not allergic to benzoyl peroxide some people are....maybe there should be a salicylic acid version of proactiv?

Pros:

I have sensitive skin and it still works well.

Cons:

feel itchy and doesn't look well under makeup.

really nice product with affordable price
June 19, 2007

Pros:

it cleared my discoloration and uneven skin tone
it also made my skin more firm

Cons:

there are still some zits

it improved my skin but the acne is not completely gone
June 18, 2007

Pros:

when i do break out the zits are much much smaller. my pores got smaller and my redness has subdued

Cons:

if i missed a day or a treatment i broke out. it smells a little weird. doesnt remove makeup.

i am really fair and my skin gets redness around my mouth making me look like i have a mustache. proactiv greeeatly reduced this redness. also, my skin feels smoother because my pores have noticeably shrunken. my skin used to be really dry, really splotchy, and i used to have big big pores around my nose. also: your skin WILL get worse whenyou first begin treatment. they KEY is to NOT PICK or POP or TOUCH your face. if you stick it out, the medication will clear what has come to the surface and then shrink your pores.
June 17, 2007

Pros:

Large size, absorbs incredibly easy, gel doesn't leave any white residue on the face like cream-based BP.

Cons:

Ordering online is a bit of a hassle, but worth it in the long run.

Daniel Kern's BP Gel is by far the best benzoyl oeroxide product i've had the chance to use. It's amazingly easy to apply to your face, as the gel absorbs smoothly and quickly. I love how there's no white residue that's left on your skin, which is the case with cream BP's. The quantity is huge and a great value, considering the cheap price. It managed to get rid of my acne within a few weeks, and I'm really glad that I made the decision to give it a try. If you're just beginning the Regimen, then this is the BP you need to use. Trust me, it's an investment you won't forget.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
