  1. Week 1 Started minocycline 50mg twice daily (100mg total). Taking alongside vitamin C to prevent discolouration of gums and any scar tissue. Avoiding calcium and vitamin A as much as possible. Taking a probiotic (100 billion) along with yogurt with lunch. Noticed malaise on day one and a loss of appetite at dinner. Day two provided some more loss of appetite served with a side of light nausea. Reflux was noted intermittently for the first week.
  2. Hi all Need some advice. I have forgotten to bring my Tetracycline capsules on holiday. I will be without for 4 days and knowing what the effects will be are already making me anxious, which in turn is making me stressed, which will also make things worse, the vicious cycle. Does anyone have any advice on how to cope for 4 days????
  3. So I started Tazorac and Doxycycline about a week ago. I have moderate acne that's persistent. I'm going to be posting logs week by week and before and after pictures. In the morning I wash my face with cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer and use that at night and then apply my tazorac. I am taking Doxy usually in the afternoon. I'm using the Tazorac Cream .05% and Doxy 150mg. Let's hope for clear skin!
  4. Hi Everyone, Just joined up and thought I would share my experiences so far ... I've suffered from acne on and off since about the age of 15, and I'm now almost 25. I've tried many things, but it always seems like a constant battle. When I was 15, I used topical erythromycyin which worked really well. After a while of using it, my acne didn't come back until I was 18, and I started taking the pill. This had good results, however completely messed up my menstrual cycle, so I stopped t
  5. Hi all So I've been on antibiotics for 9 months now (7 months of doxy and 2 of tetracycline) and my skin is now a lot worse than it was before I bothered to start treatment! If I slowly came off the antibiotics would my skin go back to what it was before over time or have I permanently changed it do you think? I know it would probably be different with everyone, I just wondered if anyone had any experience with it. I also started differin a month ago, which I know takes months to work, but
  6. Hi all! Just wanted to share that I have been on doxycycline for exactly a month now. Last week, (my third week in) I started to break out in a very strange way that I never have before (initial breakout??) I am used to getting cystic/nodular acne. This breakout is different....just many small bumps, with an immediate head (And they heal in a day or two, probably helped by doxy). So beginning at 3 weeks into doxy, my face has strange patches of these little bumps! Is it an initial brea
  7. What Is Acne Fulminans?

Definition Incidence Causes Symptoms Acne fulminans vs. other severe forms of acne Treatment Summary Definition Acne fulminans is an extremely rare, severe form of acne with an explosive onset that normally affects 13 - 22-year-old white males, and comes with systemic symptoms (symptoms that affect the whole body) like fever, fatigue, and pain in the muscles and joints.1,2 Due to its severity, acne fulminans often leaves massive, disfiguring scars. This type of acne falls under the umbrella...
  8. Well, I can say this product is healing my active acne faster than anything else I've tried! Cyst from Day 5 is on its way out, and older red marks seem to be fading. Still hoping to get completely clear, so hoping nothing new appears... will continue to apply Vitastem twice a day and post a pic every other day.

    Week 4

This week I had a moderate breakout on the right side of my face. Nothing worse than I normally have, but still upsetting. I haven't really had any active acne on the left side of my face all week, just lots of red hyperpigmentation. I took pictures this morning and I think my skin looks slightly better in real life. Although my skin is still very red, my make-up goes over a lot smoother. The skin on the left side of my face looks almost completely smooth with foundation, and the only problem wi
  10. Hi, let me give you a brief introduction... I am currently 19 years old in college. My acne has gotten so bad I don't even want to show my face. I have been suffering from cystic acne, whiteheads, blackheads, and body acne since the 7th grade. I have tried everything, the first was 2 years of tetracycline which helped keep the acne down Then as it progressively got worse, I was prescribed sotret in my junior year of high school. Within 3 months I cleared up completely, it was almost like ma
  11. Hey everyone, I am currently on Epiduo and 65 mg of Solodyn once a day. I started Epiduo about 8 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I went back to the dermatologist and that is when they gave me the 65mg of Solodyn. My skin right now is awful, I have at least two new pimples every day. I called the dermatology office and they said that it was most likely caused by the Epiduo and that it was bringing all the dirt and stuff to the surface and that if can take up to 3 months for it to start clearing up
  12. I have been on tetracycline for 7 weeks. during the first week, my skin was amazing. now however it seems to be the same as it was before and gets worse with the days.I am so sick of this. when should i expect for it to work? I am seriously thinking of giving up.

Definition Incidence Causes Symptoms Pyoderma Faciale vs. Other Severe Forms of Acne Treatment Summary Definition Pyoderma faciale, also known as rosacea fulminans, is a rare, severe form of acne occurring exclusively in females. 14. I' was prescribed Tetracycline 250mg ( 2 in the morning, and 2 in the night) also clindoxyl adv in the morning and stieva a 0.025% in the night. My greatest concern is the routine. If I cleanse and apply clindoxyl to my skin at 8am How long do I keep it on ? I need help making a routine. I don't want to experience peeling and what not, I'd like a professional response or someone in the same boat as I am. My acne isn't to bad. I forgott to ask my dermatologist to help make a routine. My take
  15. Howdy! So let me fill you in really quickly on my acne journey, a real journey of trial and error! I started getting acne when I was about 12/13. It was never too bad but as I got a little older it started getting worse and began to bother me. When I was 16, I went to my GP about it and he prescribed me Dianette (contraceptive pill). This surprisingly worked so well but I think I took it for granted looking back now. I always had the odd spot or 3 but my skin became the least of my worries a
  16. Week 3 Continuing minocycline 50mg twice daily (100mg total). Still taking alongside vitamin C (250mg) to prevent discolouration of gums and any scar tissue. Avoiding calcium and vitamin A as much as possible. Taking a probiotic (100 billion) along with yogurt with lunch. Reflux was noted intermittently, nothing too serious. Skin around nose (external) is a little drier than usual. Faint tinnitus seems to be present intermittently at night. Also dermatologist towards the end of week th

    Day 0

I've named today day 0 because tomorrow is my first visit to a hospital derm. Now the bit that I always find a bore so I'll keep it quick. I've had acne since I was about 15. But not the kind I have now. I used to get pimples and cysts on the forehead only. I went in various contraceptive pills to get rid of it. About a year ago I went to my GP and she prescribed Yasmine - Yasmin is the reason I have the acne I have today - all over my cheeks, jawline and chin. It did however get rid of any
  18. Hey guys first time poster here. Just wondering if those that are following the regimen have forgone using their pprescription to follow the guide. If so should i start that? Me; I have severe body acne and severe face acne, I dont eat as healthily as I'd like to but im making the change. Also I have been on and off my medication which has probably just made it worse. I am on tetracycline and duac gel and have been for the past 2-3 years + and sometimes my spots are non exsistant but most
  19. So it all began about a week before Christmas. My skin was perfectly fine then i went to take a shower and get ready to go out and all of a sudden there was HUGE pimpled right on my cheek. it took forever to clear up and every since then i have been getting acne repetitively. I used to hardly ever get any pimples. Occasionally i would break out but then after that cleared up i would be fine. But the past few months i will break out, it will clear up for a day, and then back to breaking out. My
  20. I used to have a lot of cystic acne. I managed to clear it with some glycolic acid peels, Milk Thistle(don't take this seriously as I had a very nasty liver problem, which caused my whole body to work incorrectly) and tretinoin(used 3 times a week). For reasons that go far beyond muscle growth, I'm on 500MG of testosterone a week. In the beginning, everything was fine. About 5 months later, acne came back like it used to be. The problem is that I was working 12 hours a day and I didn't pay a
  21. I had a few zits on my forehead so I had been taking 500mg per day of tetracycline for about a month. I weaned off of it, and now I am not taking it anymore. I have been off of it for a week and now my face is breaking out badly, worse than it ever has before, and in places it never has before. I'm wondering if this will stop eventually and if so, how long is it going to take for this to stop happening? Also, on a side note I eat very healthy and drink tons of water. I just want my skin to go ba
  22. Hello guys! I started taking tetracycline back in december and dose was pretty high. I've been taking it since then, but my dermatologist lowered the dose every month and now I'm taking one pill once in every four day. I've heard that in many cases of antibiotic therapy acne comes back after you stop taking them. I wanted to know if I'm taking pretty low dose and my acne is still managable with it, will it still come back after I stop taking meds.
  23. One word of caution towards taking minocycline. If you start to find bluish black "bruise" like splotches on your shins that don't go away like a normal bruise does, tell your derm! It's minocycline induced hyperpigmentation and it can take years to get rid of. it happened to me and my derm said that it was because my body didn't need or couldn't absorb the high does of minocycline so it deposited the meds into my skin to form the blue marks. Keep a careful eye! Attached is a google image o
  24. Hey guys, I'm a 20 year old male. My mother has had terrible hormonal acne for years -- but my skin was COMPLETELY clear until this January. Shortly after New Year's I had a huuuuuge breakout for the first time in my life. My cheeks were COVERED. I was very stressed at the time and my skin became incredibly dry as it was winter. Proactiv eventually cleared it up after a few months, to a considerable extent, but left me with terrible hyperpigmentation. By summer my skin was glowing a
  25. Long story short, I was on miocycline for three years and it worked in the beginning but it started to get weaker. I started getting purple marks on my calves and my gums were darkening but my dermatoligist was negligent and didnt say anything about them so I thought nothing of it for a year while I had that. I switched derms and she said that I needed to get off of the antibiotic ASAP and that thank goodness she caught it early; those side effects were a result of the antibiotics building up in
