Pros:

I'm not pregnant

Cons:

Tiredness
Hormonal- stresses and emotional
Serious acne flare up

The only pro I could find is that I'm not pregnant. However this could just be down to the fact that the state of my face makes me avoid any contact with boys at the moment. I've taken two packs now and towards the end of the first one I experienced a breakout of small itchy whiteheads all over my jawline and cheeks. I took my 7 day break and then decided to start another pack. One week into that one and my chin has exploded with large cyst like pimples. I regret taking yasmin, and even if this is an initial breakout, I was a lot happier with my light acne before i started this pill!

Pros:

-No babies

Cons:

-Extreme stomach cramps and problems the entire time I was on it
-Anxiety
-Expensive
-No effect on acne

I went on Yaz and was so sure this was going to work for me and all it did was cause me months of pain and stress. I was constantly sick to my stomach so much so that I could barely get out of bed. I missed work, social events with friends and spent Christmas and New Years in my bed or the bathroom. It was terrible. There was no effect on my skin and even if there was it wouldn't have been worth it. I tried to stick it out for 3 months hearing that it can take up to 3 months for your body to adapt. 2.5 months in I couldn't take it anymore and stopped 3 days later I felt so much better and have been getting progressively better for the last few months. Through this whole ordeal I did learn that dairy was the culprit of my bad skin. I have cut dairy out of my diet almost completely and my skin is amazing. 1 or 2 blemishes around the time of my period or if I cave and have a slice of pizza. I wouldn't wish Yaz on anyone but I'm glad, in some round about way, it was able to lead me to the true issue with my skin.

Pros:

Weight loss, no bloating

Cons:

My acne got much, much worse!
Expensive!

I was prescribed this after I decided my previous birth control wasn't working out for me. I was excited because my doctor said that this helped women with their acne and even reduces hair growth. Being of Greek heritage and having suffered from acne for 10+ years, I thought why not! Big mistake! Within a month my acne worsened and I don't mean a few breakouts here and there. My acne was actually worse than when I was a teenager! After a month, I called my doctor in hysterics and switched back to my old birth control (ortho-cyclen) which helped my skin once upon a time. Unfortunately, Yasmin messed up my skin so much, it took almost a year of various topical and antibiotic treatments to get it back to my pre-Yasmin state.

Pros:

- Regular, short periods

Cons:

- The usual birth control pill stuff: I started crying once a day, my acne got worse, I gained a little weight.

Did not work. For some reason hormonal birth control just doesn't seem to be good for me.

Pros:

- good birth control
- thickened hair (also could be a con)
- regulated period
- short period
- minimal cramps
- lost weight

Cons:

- small pimples all over chin and jawline which i've never had before
- cysts on forehead
- moody/depressed
- anxious/insomnia
- tired
- frequent UTI's and yeast infections

I went on this pill for 2 months last year and thought it would eliminate my hormonal acne, but it didn't. So i went off it and then tried OTC-Lo which gave me terrible acne outbreaks. I decided to give this one a chance again and I totally regret it. I've been in it for 3 months and my skin is progressively getting worse, not better the way some people have said it would after a few months of perseverance. I've never struggled with skin issues like this, I would usually only get one cyst right before my period and then it would go away or the occasional pimple from leaving my makeup on at night. Since I've been on this pill my skin is a nightmare, I never see a clear day except during my period when I stop the pill and by the end of the week my skin is virtually back to normal. I suppose my acne condition is not caused by excess androgen's and therefore this pill is causing breakouts rather than curing them. Other than the breakouts I cannot handle the frequent UTI's and depression associated with this pill. All around this pill is a disaster. I just stopped taking it 3 days ago and I can see my pore size shrinking and my skin feels much less oily. However, be cautioned that your skin will breakout when you stop this pill...all the tiny pimples I had on my chin have started to come to the surface but died down and are drying out after doing an egg white mask. In conclusion, I'd rather endure one zit a month than this any day.

Pros:

Lost weight, regulated my period--never late!

Cons:

Acne, cysts, hyperpigmentation, white heads--can't get rid of them!

I started yasmin because my gyn recommended it for women with pcos. I was abroad for a few years and took pills like Marvelon 21 and Tridiol--loved both of them but they are not offered here in the U.S. The first month on Yasmin, I noticed a few pimples on my face but nothing too serious. After a couple of months I started to develop serious cystic acne that would not go away--not even with chemical peels, organic products, good diet etc.My skin has not been clear in 7 months since I started the pill. I have a weird combination of acne and dehydrated/lackluster skin, no matter what moisturizers or eye creams I use! Also, I noticed a lack in energy and enthusiasm in things I normally looked forward too. I felt my emotions were becoming really unstable---Honestly, this pill made me feel like I was bi-polar..up and happy one moment and down and depressed (even angry) at the next turn. (I'm talking about crying at memories, simple arguments with loved ones, feeling overwhelmed at daily work routines etc.) I'm getting off of it this month and giving another pill a try. I would have gotten off of it earlier but I was advised to give it at least 6 months. My doctor said she was really surprised to hear I didn't do well on it because she claimed most of her patients do well on this pill. It's good to see by reading this board that I'm not alone!

Pros:

amazing boobs

Cons:

horrible mood swings
felt absolutely exhausted all the time
THE WORST ACNE BREAKOUT I EVER HAD
no sex drive at all

this is the first time i ever review anything but i really had to this time. this pill should be put off the market. i started taking it after my doctor really recommended this pill. i did read the reviews here but i was thinking, each body reacts differently but i never expected such a dramatic change in my personallity, skin, basically everything. and i have tried different pills in the past that never caused such a dramatic reaction. a week into my second pack i got two huuuuuuge cysts on the side of my face on my cheek, that are still healing 6 months on. yes, my skin didn't break out after this and i knew that if i countinued i'd be completely clear, but then i knew that my balance would never get back to normal if would want to quit because this pill changed everything, my breasts, my period, my moods (never felt so depressed and for no reason at all). so after the third pack i quit and got another huuuge breakout that i was prepared for and waited for this to heal and now i'm back to myself. NEVER AGAIN! girls, even if this pill works for you perfectly, think of the futurre and the consequences of quitting it.

Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

Caused severe acne
Extreme tiredness
Very emotional
Mood swings

I had mild acne and six weeks after starting Yasmin I have 47 spots all over my face (Yes I just counted them and can't quite believe it myself)! They aren't all small whiteheads either, I have 13 large red swollen painful lumps. I have been very emotional, crying every 5 minutes and I never cry. Mood swings have made me very irritable and angry at everyone in my life. Extreme tiredness, I have been coming home from work and going straight to bed and today I have had to call in sick. Not good for relationships, self-esteem and skin!!! I have stopped taking them in the middle of the second pack in the hope to sort out my emotions, skin and tiredness.

Pros:

As a birth control method

Cons:

-HAIR THINNING
-extreme exhaustion
-difficulty wearing contact lenses

At first I wasn't sure why my hair was thinning and though maybe my shampoo. However, after looking into my Yasmin, I found many many reviews from women who experienced the same thing. And then, after reading about the potential side effects, I realized exactly WHY I was experiencing the different things I was going through. I told my younger sister about it and she was like "THAT was the BC I was on last christmas - remember, when I was sleeping like 13 hrs a day!" Bottom Line? It isn't worth the side effects - particularly the hair thinning and difficulty wearing lenses. Yasmin truly should be recalled OR the side effects should include a more extensive list.
