Pros:

-No babies

Cons:

-Extreme stomach cramps and problems the entire time I was on it
-Anxiety
-Expensive
-No effect on acne

I went on Yaz and was so sure this was going to work for me and all it did was cause me months of pain and stress. I was constantly sick to my stomach so much so that I could barely get out of bed. I missed work, social events with friends and spent Christmas and New Years in my bed or the bathroom. It was terrible. There was no effect on my skin and even if there was it wouldn't have been worth it. I tried to stick it out for 3 months hearing that it can take up to 3 months for your body to adapt. 2.5 months in I couldn't take it anymore and stopped 3 days later I felt so much better and have been getting progressively better for the last few months. Through this whole ordeal I did learn that dairy was the culprit of my bad skin. I have cut dairy out of my diet almost completely and my skin is amazing. 1 or 2 blemishes around the time of my period or if I cave and have a slice of pizza. I wouldn't wish Yaz on anyone but I'm glad, in some round about way, it was able to lead me to the true issue with my skin.

Pros:

amazing boobs

Cons:

horrible mood swings
felt absolutely exhausted all the time
THE WORST ACNE BREAKOUT I EVER HAD
no sex drive at all

this is the first time i ever review anything but i really had to this time. this pill should be put off the market. i started taking it after my doctor really recommended this pill. i did read the reviews here but i was thinking, each body reacts differently but i never expected such a dramatic change in my personallity, skin, basically everything. and i have tried different pills in the past that never caused such a dramatic reaction. a week into my second pack i got two huuuuuuge cysts on the side of my face on my cheek, that are still healing 6 months on. yes, my skin didn't break out after this and i knew that if i countinued i'd be completely clear, but then i knew that my balance would never get back to normal if would want to quit because this pill changed everything, my breasts, my period, my moods (never felt so depressed and for no reason at all). so after the third pack i quit and got another huuuge breakout that i was prepared for and waited for this to heal and now i'm back to myself. NEVER AGAIN! girls, even if this pill works for you perfectly, think of the futurre and the consequences of quitting it.

Caused Horrible Effects Coming Off
Took this (in generic Ocella form) from ages 19-23. It worked great on my acne, but when I was 22 I developed migraines and high blood pressure, a risk factor for having a stroke on Yasmin. When I went off it, it caused horrible cystic acne, worse than anything I had before, that has been dominating my life for the past two years, as well as the loss of 1/3 of my hair and horrible mental effects (crying, extreme anxiety and sadness) as well as weight gain. PLEASE look around on the post-pill breakout forums, or just google "acne after stopping Yasmin" before taking this. It is a horrible drug and there is no way to avoid the bad effects when you stop, which you'll have to do eventually. DO NOT use hormonal birth control for acne, it just makes it worse in the end. Should come with a warning label: you'll look great while you take it, but be bald and cystic when you come off...

Pros:

it works birth control wise..

Cons:

since ive started taking this ive started getting pains and my heart beats faster. it really only made my acne worse. i was told to research it by a friend and discovered that its side effects are WAY terrible, and that it shoud actually have been recalled. it causes more things than it solves, including liver and kidney damage.

this form of preventing acne wouldnt be the best step to take.. its risks are greater than what it solves.

Pros:

Predictable periods

Cons:

Large mosquito-bite-like acne in areas I never had it before like on jawline, cheeks and forehead. Now i'm not sure whether going off it will cause even more acne or whether I should give it a little longer - any advice??

Works for some but not for me - wish i had gone back on Diane since that never caused me to break out like this.

Research first!
I had acne when I was a teenager and it didn't improve with time. I tried antibiotics, creams, gels... Nothing seemed to work.A dermatologist told me to try the pill, and in my desperation to clear my skin, I did. Worst mistake ever. I took yasmin and the skin improved, cleared, but I stopped after 3 months and the acne came back MUCH worse! It was so bad it affected me psychologically, I was in uni at the time and I really struggled to leave home and go to class. I hated my face. It was even swollen by the amount of spots! Then I took roaccutane. It's a really strong treatment, it can affect you organs and made me depressed, my skin was dramatically dry, I got my first wrinkles (yay!), my lips were so dry that something they would cut when I smiled. Even so, it worked, my skin was much better at the end, clear. I was left with lots of scars but no marks. After stoping the treatment, a bit of acne came back. Not as bad as before, but it did. The doctor told me that my acne was hormonal so it could only be controlled with the pill. I started taking Dretinelle (basically same as yasmin, which I didn't know). I've been on it for years, and I'm now going off it. I'm stopping today. I'm gonna take some food suplements and look after my diet really well, and go back to topical creams. My skin might not be great but the pill isn't worth it. Plus it stopped working for my skin. The pill has so many risks, ended up giving me palpitations and arrhythmia, and very strong headaches. My sex drive is gone. And something that not many people know, is that even though Yasmin helps clear the skin while taking it, it has an ingredient that makes your skin go wild once you stop. Google it. But honestly, don't take it.

Don't do it..
I started using yasmin when I WAS 18 and used it for 3 years , with short breaks.. 2 years ago I stopped it forever and at first I experienced the worst side effects ever, but even so, stopping WAS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. SIDE EFFECT that i experienced: -while ON yasmin: BLOATING BAD CELLULITE ( every time I stopped them, a week after the cellulite disapear, so don't tell me there's no connection) LOW LIBIDO SPOTING -The period after STOPPING them: BAD ACNE INGROWN HAIR ON MY LEGS (I had marks on my legs for 1 year, it was horrible) IRREGULAR MENSTRUATION FOR MONTHS THINNING HAIR HORMONAL IMBALANCE Now, after 2 years of stopping, my body finally recovered from this POISON , I still have mild to moderate acne, but, otherwise I FEEL GREAT :)

Pros:

Prevents pregnancy.

Cons:

This pill made me break out like crazy! I have been off for 3 months and I'm still getting zits. I barely had any acne before I started taking Yasmin. It also made me so depressed, I even contemplated suicide. My sex drive was zilch as well.

Not bad, if you want to to turn into a horrible, zitty bitch. lol

Cons:

gave me horrible mood swings and my face broke out horribly in just a week after i started taking it

i switched to yaz from another birth control that i used to bring from south america(similar to diane35), but after just one week of taking it my face broke out completely and gave me cystic acne that i didn't had before. I thought it was an adjustment but after the second month of taking it i just quit because it wasn't just working not to mention the horrible mood swings

Yasmin is the worst thing to happen to me
Do not use this pill. I suffered from acne and my doctor put me on yasmin to help it as i thought it was good for resolving acne. i've been on it for 4 months and I have never been so miserable and depressed. My acne worsened and continues to worsen now, I've never experienced acne this bad it's ruining my entire life I have now been put on to roaccutane to sort it out once and for all. Yasmin has resulting in me crying all the time (once a day), eating ridiculous amounts and severe bloating. I am now looking to convert to a different pill, Yasmin has changed me so much for the worse and I've never regretted something so much in my life. Please think carefully before starting this pill.
