Pros:

clear skin (along w/ retin-a from the dermatologist), shorter period, no noticable weight gain, dependable.

Cons:

occasional mood swings

I can't believe the problems that some people have had with Yasmin. I've been on 2 other types of bc pills before and this is definitely the best one yet. I do have mood swings at times, and feel depressed every once in a while (only when I have reason to)...but isn't that normal for most woman anyway? I mean, woman are supposed to be emotional at times, right? I haven't noticed a real problem...I definitely would recommend it :-)

Yasmin and acne

Pros:

clear skin

Cons:

first three months skin made worse

Just stick with it!! I have suffered from terrible acne over my t-zone area from around the age of 15 (now 22) and have used dianette on/off for years. Over christmas my acne flared up again, probably worse than ever so decided to go on dianette again. However, I had recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism so was advised to try yasmin. The first three months were terrible in fact my acne got a lot worse, but as soon as i started month 4 things very quickly began to improve and by month five my skin is basically crystal clear soo much clearer than with dianette!! So if you can just make it past the first 3 months you will begin to see signs of improvement!!

Pros:

cleared skin
free in the UK
light periods
lovely hair!
have not noticed any difference in mood or lower sex drive

Cons:

Weight gain is easy unless you are careful
Breast size increase (mine were big enough anyway!)

I was on antibiotics for my adult acne for several years which stopped working when I started taking the progesterone only pill. My skin broke out completely and my hair was so brittle and damaged it was breaking off in three inch lengths! GP suggested Yasmin and coming off anti b's (I'm 44 so I am a little old for this BC but she thought better this than anti b's and a BCP which made me break out!) I had started Dan's regimen and my acne was improving but when I started Yasmin, my skin started improving immediately! Within a month I was clear. I do get the odd chin break out but nothing too drastic. I only hope that my GP lets me stay on it until the menopause! Ps. My hair is great too - grows lusciously and is thicker and wavier.

Pros:

NEVER getting pregnant, controlled my acne, knowing exactly what day I will start my menstrual, controlled weight gain, and very few menstrual cramps.

Cons:

Monderate PMS and ALWAYS having to remember the pill.

My doctor put me on this birth control when I was 14. I have been on it over 5 years. I have never had a scare about getting pregnant. I had pretty severe acne when I was 14 and it cleared it up and I've never had a problem since. I love knowing the exact day I will start and end my period. I have never really gained any weight, I have weighed about the same as I did when I was 16. I have never really had a problem with horrible menstrual cramps. So overall I would deff. recommend this birth control to anybody. It has worked wonders..... I am proud to say I am one of the last girls in my group of friends that has NOT had a child.

Pros:

clears acne, reduces water retention, good for various other cosmetic nuisances (hairiness); no weight gain (considered extremely rare on this pill); few side effects; effective contraceptive

Cons:

spotting; some people get headaches and breast tenderness (not me).

If you are a female of any age, especially adult (20ish+) and have tried tons of things to no avail, I recommend yasmin for acne. In adult women, hormonal issues are at the heart of your acne. I must say, because it does take a few months to work (like 2 ish), combine yasmin with other things as damage control while you wait. always use non-comedogenic products as well! After almost 2 months of yasmin+doxy (which I have used previously with minimal success on its own)+ retin-a (same) and apple cider vinegar as a topical (GREAT) I am really cleared up. After 2.5 years. FINALLY. BE AGGRESSIVE with acne. try to attack it from several different angles at once- hormonal, bacterial, and using retinoids to aid in skin regeneration. my very best wishes to all of you, it took me years to perfect my acne regimen.

Pros:

Finally...this stuff is working. I am on month four. It was prescribed to me for my adult hormonal acne. The first three months were horrible. I can happily report I have had ZERO new acne now that I have started my fourth pack.

Cons:

Horrible initial breakout. I was miserable, but I didn't give up. It took three months for Yasmin to get my hormones under control and for everything to stabilize.

Works great for hormonal acne. Try it, but give it time and be prepared for things to get worse before they get better. Yasmin has completely cleared me up and I had moderate, occasional cystic acne before.

CLEARED MY SKIN AFTER 12 YEARS OF ACNE!
THIS PILL IS AMAZING! I've had cystic acne all my life been on accutane twice which worked but acne returned. Been on loads of antibiotics and topical creams nothing worked. I tried yasmin years ago but didnt have success but in a last-ditch attempt i decided to try again. My acne has always been cystic all over my chin, jaw, hairline, neck and back. Ive nearly finished my first cycle of lucette (used to be called yasmin) and my face has cleared up dramatically. I am still getting painful cysts on my back and a few on my jawline but my face is almost completely clear. I am in shock at how quickly its cleared up my skin and I hope it continues in this positive direction for the next few months! I will update this post next month to see if there has been further improvement.

Can I ask how long it took to see results

Yasmin- try it it worked for me!

Pros:

100% CLEARER SKIN
Bigger boobs

Cons:

Mood swings (occasionally)
Weight gain

After trying and failing to treat my acne with Zineryt and Tetracycline, both which severely dried my skin out, it was suggested that I go on the pill to treat my acne. My acne was not cystic, but instead consisted of very small whiteheads that covered my entire face and back, leaving my skin bumpy, red and greasy. There was no immediate difference, but in 6 months I noticed a drastic improvement and within a year 90% of my acne had gone. Yes it took a year, but all the redness, bumps and whiteheads went, leaving only some scars and slight red pigmentation which it fading. I never picked my spots anyway so I think that also reduced the amount of scars 'left over'. I was 18 when I went on Yasmin, and I am now 20 and have been taking it for 2 and a half years. Some people may argue that I went on it when I reaching the end of puberty anyway, but my sister went on it at 16 for medical reasons and it cleared up her acne as well. When she went off it at 18, her acne returned (although not as severely) so I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are a teenager or in your early twenties. I continue even now with washing my face with Johnson's 'Clean and clear' blackhead cleaning scrub, and rub sudacrem on my 'problem areas', so my forehead and around my nose. I am planning on taking it for at least 2 more years, till I am sure that puberty has finished as I think my acne was probably hormonal. I started getting acne when I was 14, and it took 4 years before someone suggested the pill as a treatment and I am so glad it tried it. Yes it takes time, but my acne hasn't returned since so that proves to me Yasmin is still working. One thing I will mention is yes- Yasmin did trigger some mood swings (as in occasionally made me feel wayy more emotional) and yes I did put on weight- about half a stone. However I did put on weight straight to my boobs and butt so I was lucky in that respect but I think this varies on the person! For me, all this was worth going through if my skin improved, which it did.

Pros:

No babies, Cleared Acne, Helped with Mood Swings. Period lasts 4 day!

Cons:

Vaginal Infections before every period

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE BIRTHCONTROL >>YAZ<< NOT YASMIN. I do love YAZ. It took my body about 3 months to get used to, which is normal for anyone starting birth control. I did have headaches the first few months I was on it but now they are few and only happen around my period. But unfortunately for me it gives me yeast infections but ppl aren't the same so it may not happen to you. YAZ has helped my acne very well but I also helped that out by using an exfoliate on my face everyday in the shower. I went to the doctor today and got her to switch my birth control and she recommended Ortho Tri Cyclen because that was what she was taking. So I will be switching from YAZ to Ortho Tri Cyclen only because on YAZ I had yeast infections. Overall I would recommend YAZ for acne and PMDD or severe mood swings and regulating periods. Remember not everyone is the same!! So keep trying til you find the righ
