Do not take Yasmin
I was on dianette for a year before changing to Yasmin in Feb. I took Yasmin roughly 5-6 months and it's ruined me. Mood swings, headaches, head fuzziness, heart palpitations. I ended up in hospital because of it - my heart rate was extremely elevated. However every taste came out fine and I've never had any health problems prior. I stopped mid pack a month ago because it was making me feel so awfully depressed. It did make my skin better (not perfect) but it is NOT worth feeling like this. I now have suffered panic attacks and anxiety when I have never dealt with that before. I still feel spaced out and tired all of the time. I just don't feel right and it's affecting my everyday loft. If I can stop even one girl taking Yasmin then that is enough. it's not worth the risk of reacting like myself and many others have (do your research). I wish I had known all this before taking it. Take other routes to clear your skin!

been on it for 6 days..
i'm 16, not sexually active at all, went on the pill for acne only. not even a week in and i HATE this pill. depressive episodes, horrendous bloating and cravings and lo and behold, WORSENED ACNE. IT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN A WEEK. there's no way i could continue with this pill any longer. stopping it today and going to my GP about other options. plus my acne has been tested to be hormonal.. so sad about this.

gets worse before it gets better

Pros:

Cheap with RX plan.

Cons:

No birth control pill, no matter how "weak" has worked for me acne-wise. They have all made be break through bleed, gave me worse skin, made me gain weight (this one included).

Try it, but don't expect a miracle. Stop if you start gaining weight or your skin gets worse (with Dr.'s approval, I guess.) Don't believe it when anyone tells you the bp doesn't make acne worse.

Pros:

none

Cons:

mid cycle bleeding, NOT spotting, i need a pad like i have a really light period, acne got extremely BAD in spots I never had it before

Bottom line do NOT pay for this birth control if you don't have severe acne. And if you do, then remember it will take 3 to 6 months for it to kick in so your acne WILL get worse before it gets better. For me, it never got better. I took this pill for 7 days and i had a new acne spot on my face every single day. NOT COOL. Not only that but since going off it, it has completely cleared up! The only down fall to it is that I am still bleeding light. But I will take that over the way I was feeling. It made me feel so depressed and sad and I am so glad I went off it.

Pros:

Not pregnant, lighter periods.

Cons:

Depression, anxity, hair loss, NO sex drive, mood swings, loss of energy, fatigue, weight gain - inability to lose weight.

I cannot stress this more, if you have any of the above side affects, STOP TAKING THIS PILL, cause you will only get more. This pill has ruined my life.I have been taking it for 3 years, and have been in a relationship for 6. The first 6 mnths i had mood swings, then My sex drive went completely. A year later my hair started falling out, doctor said it was stress but never said it could be my pill. I suffered with depression last year, but my doctor never said it could be my pill, and he put me on anti-depressants, which did not work.I got married in september 07 and now My relationship is almost over because of this pill, and the fact the doctors never mentioned that all my problems might be a result of this pill is pure stupidity on their part! I came off this pill a month ago after desperatly tryng to figure out what was causing my lack of sex drive, and found similar reports of women who hav lost relationships over this pill.so I stopped, and all my side effects hav gone, I am bac

Pros:

First 12 months - weight loss, clear skin

Cons:

2nd 12 months - severe anxiety, panic attacks, depression, nausea (with nil history of such)

This pill is by far the WORSTY pill I have ever been on. The first year was ok with little side effects...then my world fell down around me. My personality changed and I was terrified. It took me a while to realise that YASMIN was the cause. Within a week of stopping it the dark cloud over me lifted. Anxiety took a while to subside. Overall it has taken me 2 years to completely re-balance my hormones and vitamin deficiencies.

Pros:

none

Cons:

gave me cystic acne

I broke out after taking Yasmin for 2 weeks. I had just gotten over my teenage acne and had a few red marks and then i took Yasmin (for menstrual reasons) and i broke out like crazy. I stopped immediately (around the 3 week pills) and it started to clear after a couple months. but i am now left with worse scars and red marks. It may work for you but it didnt for me (im a 16 year old caucasian if that helps)
