Product used: Emu Oil

Pros:

Reduces Redness
Heals scars much quicker
Leaves my skin glowing, and smooth
Skin looks HEALTHY.
Fewer breakouts

Cons:

NONE.
maybe it's becuase I have dry skin,
but it doesn't leave it as oily and greesy as people say.

I've been dying for a good moisturizer that could clear my face up, and this is it. Do not be offended by the smell, or greesy feel because it's only going to be as bad of an experiance as you make it. I got used to putting on the oil quite quickly, after 3 days it didn't bother me at all and I left my house many times wearing only the oil and got many compliments how shiny and glowing my face was. I did get an intial break out at first, but like any antioxidant it's going to push out the toxins that were later going to form pimples anyway. The pimples I did get were very gentle, and healed quicker the more I used the product. Now it's only been a week of using just the oil and bp face wash, and I'm starting to throw out my fears of having constant acne and major scarring. I didnt pay anything for it becuase I found it at my grandmothers house.

Pros:

It works!

Cons:

Slight itchyness

I have super sensitive skin so am not able to use it more than twice a day due to itchyness. I have used it for a couple months now and have had some scars completely disappear and the others have lightened quite a bit! Now my skin doesnt even break out it's AMAZING, love it!

Pros:

IT WORKS! I had several serious spider bites with deep scaring. I used Mederma on 1 of the bites and the scar completely went away while the other 2 bites are still scarred. I also am using it on scars from infection and its working great there too!

Cons:

none really, even though its a bit pricey the fact that it works makes it worth every penny

I use this daily, it has improved my self esteem and let me get rid of some terrible scars that affected my esteem, I am grateful that I have Mederma.

Pros:

None

Cons:

does not work

Elicina- crema de caracol, I bought this product when it first came out for my stretch marks. I saw the ad on tv so I called and it was expensive but was desperate to get rid of my stretch marks but it does not work... What a waste of money plus now I see that they have lowered the price so much hmm maybe due to no one buying anymore since it doesn't work, I am so mad they ripped me off...

Pros:

made my skin look as radiant as it was when i was a teenager. my skin is so smooth and soft even after only 3 days of usage. has evened out my skin tone.

Cons:

none

would recommend this product to anyone who wants to fade away any exisiting light facial scars. besides taking care of scars, you'd be amazed at how much younger you will look after even only a couple days of usage.

Pros:

Easy to use. Skin glows and feels soft. A little goes a long way. Non-greasy.

Cons:

Scent takes time to get used to. Reminds me of bath oil.

I purchased Bio Oil because I needed something that would give me deep down penetrating moisture...rather than a lotion that just sits on top of the skin. I found the 4oz size on E Bay for twenty dollars with free shipping. It's been about a week and I am pleased with the results so far. My sun-damaged, crepe looking skin looks much better. The scent eventually dissapates.

Pros:

Lightens marks- prevents picked pimples from leaving red marks

Cons:

price- lightens skin around pigmented areas too

Mederma works. I had severe hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and was very worried- even paid 400 for laser which didnt work- I got skrewed..... But honestly- picking pimples- tempting but BADDDDDD- but if you rub mederma on with a Qtip right on the effected part (rub rub rubbbbb! and then when it dries add another dab on top) I put this on at night before I went to bed and the next day my red marks were significently faded! talk about fast! just dont use it over a big area or it will fade the rest of the skin too! I have olive toned skin- it worked for me! i'm going to continue using it as I have a huge scar a cyst left behind and it's been 2 days and helped a huge deal with that already! better than scar erase! good luck!

Pros:

Used Skin Biology products Protect and Restore #3, Exfol serum. emu oil. Relatively inexpensive. Cleared mild but persistent cycstic acne, greatly improved overall skin tone, reduced large pores on nose. Improved appearance of old red scars.

Cons:

No immediate result; you have to stay with it to see improvement, and it gets worse before better. While cystic acne is better, I've had an uptick in "regular" acne, which BP treats easily. Bluish color cream from copper. Lots of peeling early on.

Highly recommended, particularly for people out of their 20s. (I'm 40 with combo skin). While I bought it to help clear cystic acne, it has done other great things for my skin; it looks and feels much better. It is amazing to see old red marks I've had for years dry up and peel away. Plus, the last five years have vanished off my face -- serveral friends have commented on it. I use with BP and still don't get dry, red, rough skin. One caveat: most OTC moisturizers have an immediate "plumping" effect. This does not, so you really have to stick with it for days to see it working. The Skin Biology website is packed with information, so you can decide what might work best for you. They offer a sample pack of products for about $30, so you can try before investing, which is what I did. The P&R #3 is recommended for cystic acne, but they have several versions.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
