May help clear red marks after acne.. but I believe it does clog pores.

Pros:

Good scar treatment

Cons:

Pore clogging
Greasy
Expensive

As far as scar treatment goes, I believe this could help a significant amount.. but you have to be careful using on your face with acne prone skin.. it is an oil.. and very well could clog pores.

Sh*t product!

Pros:

Helps with grazes and scars ONLY ON THE BODY

Cons:

Sh*t product for scars on the face
Long term oily skin
Hard to wash off your face

My skin has been flawless ever since I applied this on my face for a cut, after applying this on my face for 2 - 4 days I started getting terrible acne and the amount of oil on my skin would never go away! My confidence went away, I couldn't see any girls for a few weeks it took me 3 weeks straight to clear off all the acne! now I have scars that will take 4 - 6 weeks to completely heal! I am running a cycle of accutane for 6 months now because of the oil levels this created! but on the other hand the only thing this helps with is grazes and scars on the body don't apply this on your face!

Pros:

I have noticed great improvement with my acne and my lingering stretch marks from my son. I was a bit skeptical about putting Bio-oil on my face because I have very sensitive skin, but after the first application I already noticed that my skin looked fresher and more even. As far as my stretch marks go, it has only been 3 1/2 weeks using Bio-oil and they are already disappearing.

Cons:

The package is very small. I have to buy a new bottle every 2 weeks and it would be nice if I only had to buy a bottle once a month.

This is a great product and I would recommend it to all my friends, in fact I already have. Thanks Bio-oil!

Pros:

Gets rid of scars
Makes my skin soft when i use it at night
No pimples or break outs on my face, (but maybe its because i use a facial scrub to exfoliate before i massage the serum in)

Cons:

Its really thick
It doesn't have a great smell, but it isnt unbearable.
4 times a day is too many times a day

It will get rid of your scars as long as you use it on them. I use it only once a day and i noticed a difference in 2 weeks. I suggest you wash and exfoliate the scarred area before applying the serum. I have oily skin so i use it on my face only at night before bed. Its a great product.

Pros:

Cheap. Usually highly recommended for certain types of scar, but not necessarily for acne (see my comment below).

Cons:

But worsened my acne!

Note that you can find some pure Vitamin E oil, instead of using Bio-Oil which contains some flagrance. I had some nasty acne scars on my cheeks. However it seems like the oil just caused more breakouts, so it made things worse! Instead, I then avoided any oily-lotion and used the "M2 Skin Refinisher" (ex Mama) lotion, with much success!

Product used: Emu Oil

Pros:

Cures my razor burn if i put it on after I shave. Completely rids my skin of peeling. Counters the nasty side effects of Retin-A. Kills bacteria.

Cons:

IT IS COMODOGENIC! CONTAINS OLEIC ACID IS PORE CLOGGING. DONT BELIEVE THE CRACK POTS WHO TELL YOU IT WONT CLOG PORES!!! Kills bacteria yes, but..... will clog pores...

Great product if you have dry pealing skin and get razor burn. When I have peeling dry skin, I put a FEW drops on my fingers, then drip hot water over the drops and on my fingers, then rub it in over the areas that are peeling. The warmness of the water added to the oil makes it glide on the skin much easier, and you will see the flakes of skin on your fingers as emu oil just makes it slide off. Its kind of like a exfolating agent in that sense. This is perfect for the side effects I get from retin-a, the peeling and redness and dryness, emu oil gets rid of it. Even though emu oil creates an unfriendly environment for bacteria, hence it should help acne, it does clog pores. So if you have oilly skin to begin with, using this as a moisturizer would probably not help your acne, and might make it worse. Dont use this stuff all over your face, just areas that need extra moisturizing or healing. Emu oil is the best for that! Expensive but lasts very long. Got mine at [link removed].

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
