Pros:

it definately helped my skin, as it was quite bad before. massive improvement in just months.

Cons:

annoying taking the medication an hour before food and two hours after. made me feel sick so didnt each much. made me loose a stone in the 2 months of taking it, which was not good as quite petite anyway, so had to come of them.

they are really great for helping your skin, however, it has a different effect on everyone, so just expect what happened to me, to happen to you. I would recommend this antibiotic for bad skin as i found it deffinately helped.

Pros:

Works well to start with.

Cons:

Loses effectiveness over time.
Possible other side effects?

This worked extremely well for 3-4 months, but then the spots started to come back. It is not as bad as it was, but still nowhere near to clear. Also, my vision has been more blurry and I have experienced headaches since I started takin it. I am not sure if this is due to the drug or not, but I have heard that these are possible side effects.

Pros:

Nice packaging, easy small pill to take, to be fair have noticed it has given my skin a slight suntanned look - which is nice esp this time of year when everyones skin is so pale!

Cons:

have to take on an empty stomach, bitter after taste atfer taken, no signs of clearing yet...has made my skin and mouth area break out in itchy red looking whiteheads..still waiting to see if it is helping to clear - will give it another month to see

try it, it maybe for you but if no results after 2mths go back to ur dr or derm and tell them its not doing the job. Give it a try with bp 5% and differin - give it a good 2 months if no positive results - accutane should be the next step! I have a clear forehead and the side of my cheeks are crystal clear but the top of my mouth and chin and jawline is a mess with tiny pusfilled red and bumpy acne spots...its depressing as the toilets at my work really show them up and they look horrible and it looks like i have a bade case of teenage pimples or look like i dont bother cleaning my skin - when its the opposite i take good care of my skin and avoid all bad foods and drink lots of water. Its a constant battle and i have struggled with this since the summer last year and its just not clearing and not to mention the greasy feel of my skin after a couple of hours after washing. seeing my derm in a few weeks time, joping my next step is accuntane!! As nothing else is doing the

Pros:

Its very affordable, but there is something wrong with it. My spots after 2 weeks of using it, are much more more evident and red.

Cons:

In addition i was using adapaline gel and even that did not help.
Miconicin is an other antibiotic that i took in the past and it worked in two days in a week i had not even one spot.
Tetralysal is propably slower but i cant accept that make

If i had lets say 5 spots when i went to the doctor for help, now i have 20 very big aggressive spots. not recommended.

Pros:

Psychological effect

Cons:

Waste of money. My acne did not improve at all... it might have gotten worse while I was on this stuff. I used this stuff twice a day on an empty stomach for about a month and I did not notice any positive changes in my skin

I started using this stuff mid-November and stopped after a month. This was when we closed production at our facility. My breakouts stopped from there. Sleeping in, and taking a walk when the sun was out (w/ UV protection and facial lotion applied) might have helped as well. That said, people have different skin, so my case can just be an isolated one, out of many.

Pros:

Works great, have seen big improvement on my moderate facial acne!

Cons:

Must take on empty stomach, which upsets my tummy and also has made me have less of an appetite, but other than that...Great Product!

I have been struggling with moderate cystic on my chin for about 5 years now (so frustrating!) I have used every acne-wash on the market and nothing ever worked, there was only irritation and more breakouts...I was also taking Erythromycin tablets but they did little for me (I think because of the low dosage)Now I'm taking Tetracycline and it's doing great so far..the acne on my chin has improved so much within a few weeks!!! I hope it continues to fight for me!!! Now I must care for the scarring, but hey if you've got some foundation that won't irritate your skin, then you're okay. The best bet is to let scarring heal naturally because u dont wanna start adding other medications that may irritate your skin and trigger acne all over again!!! Works great!

Pros:

Clears up skin totally, apart from the occasional spot around the time of your period

Cons:

If you forget to take it, as i did for a few days when i ran out and didnt pick up a new prescription on time, i had spots straight away.

clears up your skin nicely from acne, but come back if you dont take it for 2/ days. still have oily skin, and horrible mood swings during the time or my period

Pros:

Keeps the big blemishes down.

Cons:

Didn't clear up the little blemishes. Messes up your eating schedule. Can't go outside without sunscreen for long.

I use this stuff to keep down the really big blemishes, but that is about it. It doesn't clear up the rest of my acne, so I've resorted to other products for those.

Pros:

Worked quicker than I thought, cheap too

Cons:

Messes up your eating schedule

My derm prescribed this to me with retin-a micro and boy did it work. The month after I came back to her office and my acne %90 gone. I have a lot of acne scarring to get over still but it's pretty wonderful. It does make you kind of pukey after taking but it's not too bad.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
