Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

Cleared my skin up almost like magic! Within 3 days I noticed a difference. The packaging says it may cause redness but it didn't for me!!! I love it. The consultant explained the line is botanically based too so knowing that it comes from plants and science as she described makes me rest as I know I'm not jamming animal bi-product and chemicals into my skin

Cons:

I have yet to find a con in anything I've tried. I have a few scars and it has helped but there are other product that do...re9 serum helped me!

IS...if you wanna use a quik fix....find one. If you want to use a healthy product on your skin and know its great for you...Arbonne is it. My friend is my consultant and I know she would never recommend ANYTHING harmful to me or my family. She also explained skin takes time to transition from "store product" full of fillers and chemicals to a product that is pure and safe to use. She said I may break out initally because my skin will push out the junk inside...makes sense hey! I give anything 4-6 weeks before I pass judgement now!

Pros:

- works practically overnight
- extremely effective
- inexpensive
- one tube lasts a long time (I have been using the same tube for a month and it shows no signs of being close to empty)
- I like the tingly feeling it gives
- keeps my face consistently clear regardless of my working 30 hours a week at McDonalds
- this one step is better than the 7 step Proactive system

Cons:

- if you get over-excited at first applying it more than 2 times a day it will make your face peal, but after using it a while I could do 3 or 4 times daily with no ill effects

This is a life saver for me. I had been using it a while then my mother offered to buy me Proactive. I stopped using this to try the Proactive system and my face broke out so badly. As soon as I stopped Proactive and began to use this again my face cleared up in days and has stayed clear since, even through the grease and sweat of 8 hour shifts at McDonald's! That alone is amazing especially considering I have to wear a visor which would usually rub the grease in and make a pimple line across my head, but with this my face is clear like a movie star's! The best part is how quick and easy it is to apply, especially compared to the 7 steps required with the Proactive system, and it works even better.

Pros:

Leaves skin smooth, soft, and much less breakouts. Also gets rid of the little bumpies on the forehead, the ones that you can't really see in most lighting but can very much feel.

Cons:

You have to order off ebay or the website. (much cheeper on ebay)

One thing that I really need to state about this product is that you should only be using it ONCE a day, once a day and you will see great improvement in a matter of weeks, I really think that is a KEY component to this system. My one time per day wash/tone/lotion is strictly at night, I prefer it this way. Also, doing this cuts way down on the cost, and I honestly think if one was to use this 2x per day it would just be way too much. My sister also uses this once per day only (night too) and has been doing so for over a year and her skin has a great tone and texture appearence to it with very very infrequent breakouts compared to moderate acne before. I would highly reccomend this product, it takes my skin from bumpy, rough, and very frequent breakouts to smooth, soft skin, with mild acne. I also think it's one of the least irritating salycic products available. Goodluck!!

Pros:

Smells Good

Cons:

Works very slow
Expensive

The only best thing about this Murad body wash is its fragrance. Otherwise I have noticed it usually takes around one to two months to really notice the difference with your skin. I stopped using this product due to its slow and expensive factor. I am using Proactiv body wash which is cheaper and takes less time in giving the desired skin.

Pros:

-love the smell.
-it's amazing! really works!

Cons:

It's a little spendy however, so worth the price

I have been using BB for 2 months now. I broke out in acne (ladies, i'm sure you can relate) at that time of the month, it was all over my chin and cheeks and would last about 2 weeks. It was so annoying! I tried everything, I was a firm believer of proactive and used it as well, and i loved proactive, but one day i was sitting at home and a commercial came on for BB i decided to give it a try, on the back of the bottle it states, "using other topical medications at the same time or immediately following this product may cause irritation OR DRYNESS" so with this said i would like to point out that the other reviewers stated they were using other things while BB. I for one stopped immediately using proactive and decided to just try BB. I bought the entire package, and my face immediately felt moisturized and clean. it felt tingly and clean, and the spot treatment burns a little when you first put it on but it goes away and i immediately felt like it was working it's magic, and follow that by the lotion and it truly is magic. I no longer use proactive, i am hooked. and, when it's that time of the month, i get a tiny bump and it doesn't fully develop it's gone within a day. I've recommended this to friends and they have told me the same thing. I will never use anything else. It's amazing! and like i told my friends....everyone should at least try it. but, if you're going to use it follow the directions and don't use other medications while using this, you can always go back to them if this doesn't work for you, AND if you're gonna spend the money on it might as well get the whole package. it's well worth it!

Pros:

scrubs skin well, removes dead skin well. Leaves skin nice and smooth. Great smell.

Cons:

None if used as directions say.

It can over dry, but the directions clearly state to use 3 to 4 times weekly. Not every day, not twice a day, but 3-4 times weekly. If you use it like this, then it will be a great addition to any regeime and will give good results.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
