Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

works
inexpensive
easy to find (I've seen it at target, cvs, and walmart)
small packaging (easy to throw in a backpack, purse, or gym bag)

Cons:

Takes a few days to clear up the pimple (does speed up the process though)
Stings a little (but not badly)

Great if you get the occasionally pimple or two and don't want to target your entire skincare routine towards acne.

Product used: ZAPZYT (Acne Wash)

Pros:

- Lathers well
- Didn't smell bad
- Affordable
- Easy to find
- Can get your money back

Cons:

- Didn't work that well for me
- A little drying

I'm an asian male in my mid twenties and primarily used it for my chest and back. I found that after a while of use (used almost the entire tube) I saw little to no improvement. While it kept things at bay, it didn't eliminate the problem. I'd still recommend it since you can send in the unused portions for a refund.

Pros:

Leaves skin clear, works well, makes skin soft, not too abrasive, leaves skin feeling cool and refreshed, and I don't even have to use a toner or moisturizer and it will still make my skin look amazing! <3

Cons:

Doesn't exfoliate as well as I would like it to, but still works amazing! <3

This product is amazing! I have very acne prone, combination skin and it doesn't dry out my dry cheeks or oil up my t-zone! Leaves your face feeling super duper soft and cool. I've been using this for about 2 or 3 weeks and it's been leaving clear and beautiful. I used to use St. Ives Apricot Scrub and it worked, but it was a bit too abrasive. This scrub has just enough beads in it and the beads don't exfoliate as much as the St. Ives does which I really like. It starts out as a gel type of cleanser and turns into an exfoliant and then into a creamy cleanser. Works super duper well! I would recommend using an extra exfoliator if your skin loves to be exfoliated like mine. My acne has cleared up loads! I use this with no toner, and a Walmart brand moisturizer, and it works well. I don't know how well this would work on sensitive or super dry skin, but on oily-combination skin, it works well. Love this product! <3

Pros:

deep cleans, helps clear up acne. I've used Seabreeze for years especially during hot Texas Summers when my skin is extra oily. But I recently was able to turn my husband on to it as well. He works in the heat all day and gets pimples all over his back from sweating and just using seabreeze after his evening shower has cut them in half in just a week...soon they will all be gone!

Cons:

be careful not to get it near your eyes....will sting and as with any product that has alcohol will over dry if you use too much. I counter balance with a nice oil free moisturizer.

Love this stuff! Great value sized bottles less than $5 at Wal-Mart. It works so well hubby couldn't believe it was so cheap he thought I was paying much more for it! It's also good for wiping down phone receivers or helmet chin straps that kinda get sweaty over time.

Pros:

Clears up current breakouts
Prevents further breakouts
Diminishes blackheads
Does not dry out acne prone areas
Dispenser is a good idea
Leaves clear patches of skin looking cleaner and glowing

Cons:

Dries out areas of healthy skin
Cannot be used near eyes, ears or mouth
Dispenser takes a few tries to work properly

My acne recently got worse and began to leave more serious scarring that was taking longer to go away. After watching some sponsored reviews on this I became skeptical about how all the good reviews seemed to come from people that were being paid for their opinion. However, after being unable to repurchase my usual cleanser I was very eager to try one with salicylic acid in it, an active ingredient which had worked for me before that Perfectawash contains. Using the product for the first time was strange. The dispenser doesn't work straight away, you have to wave your hand in front of it several times. I wet my fingers first and got the product on my fingertips. I used the pink wash which smells very strongly of fruit and chemicals, but is not over all unpleasant. The wash does not lather well for me and tends to stay of a quite thick consistency. It does, however, get runny very easily and some went on my neck and ears. This wasn't a problem at first but I soon developed dry flaking skin on these areas and around my nose. It's advertised that you'll see a difference in your skin after 12 hours once you start using the product. I have to agree; my already healthy skin looked cleaner, felt less clogged and seemed to have a better tone. My acne scabbed over and began to heal up. Continuous use of this, both day and night as reccomended, seems to have prevented new spots from forming and to have killed the bacteria in the spots that I had at the start of use. I recently fell ill and had to go to hospital, resulting in not using this for a while, and my acne does not seem to have come back. I will however continue to use this product alongside a powerful moisturizer. The actual areas affected by acne on my face (cheeks and forehead) have a normal texture now and have not dried out any. Overall I would reccomend this product to people struggling with persistant white and black heads, as long as they don't mind how

Pros:

See results the next day
Goes on clear
Doesn't smell super bad
Works well overnight
Dries out the acne fast

Cons:

Just stings a little bit but nothing to really complain about

I've tried so many acne spot treatments and this one is definitely by far the best one I've EVER used! I've been using it for about 2 years and it still works just as good as the first time I used it :D I would recommend this product to everyone who's looking for a fast and effective way to get rid of acne! Best if used overnight :) Definitely worth it!!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Everything!`

It dried my face so bad it hurt, and didn't exfoliate my skin enough to unclogged the pores which led the the worst acne I've had in my life. I would never recommend this product to anybody ever. However, I do realize that everyone's skin has a different ph balance, but I stopped using this stuff a month ago, and my skin is still recovering. I'll never use anything from Arbonne ever again

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
