Acne.org’s Real World Take
Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

I love the burst of lightness my face feels after using the product. I love the citrus smell and how energized my face feels.

Cons:

It doesn't get rid of acne, but it maintains a beautiful glow on your face and an even complextion.

I like the product and would recommend using it if you don't have severe acne conditions. It's an easy one step process and it's easy to travel with.

Pros:

1) makes skin oil free
2) unclogs pores
3) makes skin soft 4) No inflamation or irritation

Cons:

1) not that much of an improvment in acne
2) skin becomes slightly dry and flaky

This product is very useful for people who have oily skin but for some people, it dries out the skin too much causing redness and irritation. For me, it did not stop the acne but it made the breakouts less often and less noticeable because my face wasn't inflamed. Overall, this product is good to get but not for people who have severe acne because it wont help or people who want to completely get rid of their acne because it most likely wont. (only fades the acne and doesnt prevent the acne fully, just fewer breakouts)

Pros:

Wow, I was using murad it just made my pimples on my face bigger than ever, so use clearasil because with three days there are just marks where pimples were, just scabs that will heal in like a couple of days. So all my acne is gone. :)

Cons:

If you just use the scrub your face will dry up but that is my fault because I didn't use the lotion that came with it.

Get it please if you have any type of acne. You'll be impressed

Pros:

it gets rid f the oil but irritates the skin

Cons:

After i was and my skin is dry, it feels very clean and smooth. but i do get occasional rashes.

Clearisil isn't a good acne remover but it is a very good face cleanser. It doesn't really renive acne, but it prevents breakouts and removes almost all the oil on my face. It lasts a long time too. What i don't like about the product is that the exfoliants are to hard and irritates skin easily. Ovefrall, a fairly good product. Not recommended for sensitive skin.

Pros:

I haved used this product for almost 30 years and it works wonders for me when it comes to CLEANING my face. Nothing else even comes close to it. The first few times you use it it does burn or tingle. Don't give up on it.

Cons:

SO TOUGH TO FIND AND CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED ON THE INTERNET FOR PRICES THAT ARE TOO HIGH.

I have hooked so many people on this product. Remember it has to be the ORIGINAL FORMULA NOT THE NEW STUFF THEY PUT OUT WHICH IS CRAP.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
