Not often used because it smells bad, is opaque so it colors the skin when applied, and may rarely lead to severe side effects. Because of this, there haven’t been enough studies to show us whether it works or not, but it should help with mild-to-moderate acne.

Pros:

it is effective to a degree, shrinks the acne and redness becomes pink in one day, doesn't contain benzoyl peroxide

Cons:

unable to keep shrinked acne from growing again so must be used everyday, smells, dries up your skin but product doesn't not come with precise information on whether to use moisturizers or toners

for me, its a product that didn't cause damage to the skin other than dryness which can be overcome, which is a very useful factor because i have very sensitive skin. It's medium effectiveness means serious acne prone people will want to look at more effective creams but for something over the counter, what more can u ask for?

Pros:

*gets rid of those super irritated, inflamed pimples you pick at that take ten years to turn into whiteheads (not cystic acne though)
*you don't have to look at your acne when you're wearing it

Cons:

*color does not fit all (wear in privacy of house)
*leaves super tiny pointy bumps where inflamed acne was

Really reduces swelling a lot. However, now I'm left with these super annoying mini pimples and some hyperpigmentation. I slathered this stuff all over my face one night and when I woke up the next morning, they were literally gone. Good for super red, irritated, volcano-like whiteheads.

Pros:

Dries up acne quick, I bought it today when i got home i washed my face apply the cream and a couple hours later i already seen improvement..I am impressed

Cons:

The smell is not so great and it is thick and dies up like paste...but heck it works so i dont care about that wish i had of found it sooner.....I almost missed it in the store because of the way it is package but it was the last one left

If you want to see results quick this is the product for you it might be cheap but sometimes cheaper products work better this is proof! ;)

Pros:

I've been using this product for 2 weeks now, it's really helped! I'm in my late 40's, I've struggled with acne since my teens. Nothing helped, I've tried everything! This has changed the complexion of my face & quickly takes care of new pimples.

Cons:

That I never heard of it before.................I could have been using this for years.

I will continue to use this product and I will recommend it.

Pros:

I just bought this stuff yesterday and I already see improvement in my skin! I hope it keeps working this well as I am in my 40's and am SOOO tired of having acne. Ugh!

Cons:

None...I don't hate the smell, I could care less about the color as long as it works and so far it does.

Try it! It may not work for everyone but it sure as heck seems to be working for me. (and yes I have tried every other thing ever made on the market)

Pros:

THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! It reduced redness after one application!

Cons:

It might look weird to apply it in the morning, or with makeup it would be difficult. (Idk, I don't wear makeup as a guy.)

One of the best spot treatments out there!

Pros:

I am almost 30 and have been suffering with acne sine 12. I have LITERALLY tried everything. This cleared me up in two days and my skin has never been smoother.

Cons:

Nothing. The smell is not that bad and is goes away in less than an hour.

I cannot believe I have not heard of sulfur for acne until recently. This product is great! I would recommend it to anyone who has pustule, inflammed, whitehead acne. I am waiting on my Grandpa's Thylox soap so that I can get rid of all other BP and acid products!

Pros:

Acnomel was a great acne treatment until recently

Cons:

The tubes labeled 30% more are actually just a watered down product and its effectiveness is greatly decreased.

I hope they change it back.

Pros:

I have used acnomel for many years. Having had extremely bad acne into adulthood. I discovered it when I was about 30 years old. My sons have used it and I have recommended it to many people who have had much success. Moisturizing is a must.

I am an Aesthetician and I recommend this product to anyone suffering with acne. I will clear up pimples in a day or two. It is fantastic. Toner and moisturizers are a very important part of skincare regimen. My sons swear by it they apply it as soon as a pimple shows and it clears them within a day. Experiment with it all skins types are different and it can dry some more than others. Best acne product available.

Pros:

dries up pimples immediately they will be practically gone in 2-3 days. sulfur works really well for my skin. I have sensitive skin and this did not bother me at all. no adjustment time period needed. if I only use a little and smooth it in really well I can use during the day. I actually like the smell, smells like roses and much better than the actual smell of sulfur you get with proactiv's mask. affordable. only need to use a little for it to work.

Cons:

the tint isn't perfect, but who really cares about that. if you aren't consistent with it your pimples will reappear but that goes for any acne treatment.

If you found that proactiv's mask worked for you as a spot treatment get this stuff. It has sulfur which works. And it's affordable so if for some reason it doesn't work for you, you're not out of a lot of money.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
