Pros:

All Acne is GONE 100%

Cons:

Minor headaches, Nausea and a little dizziness.

OK..I read all the reviews on this and all products and I was scared to try. On the other end I was a 30 some year old woman, who never had acne and hated the way my face looked. I was on a small dosage and had no side effects or results. My doctor doubled my dosage and immediately my skin cleared and yes the side effects came along with it. Like all things in life you learn how to manage it. I only stayed on the meds for about a month. My acne is 100% gone and it's over 3 months. Everyone..try it and use your experience. All negative stuff can really scare you. At the end of the day all we all want is clear skin. Good Luck!

Pros:

-Makes your acne fade away
-Works AMAZINGLY AWESOME!
-Insurance will pay for it (most likely)

Cons:

-Use a lotion..skin will get very dry!
-Be consistant...or it won't work

I have BAD acne-first of all. And I needed my acne to leave...NOW! I spent thousandsof dollars at trhe dermatoligists, paying for new treatments every month. But then...-I learned a VERY important lesson. BE PATIENT! Give your medicine at LEAST a month before changing it. Out of ALL treatments, this one works the BEST. I didn't sat the FASTEST, but the BESTEST! Go to your dermatoligist today, and get it! You'll feel, look, and be happier and healthier once again. Love you all! Bye for now!

Pros:

Major improvements in my skin after the first week of use and thereafter

Cons:

Extreme nausea for the first 2 weeks of use

This has been my miracle drug in my teen years and also during my first year of grad school. I was recently prescribed Yasmin in combination with minocycline to help with my severe cystic acne and this combination has worked wonders for me. The first 2 weeks of taking minocycline was literally hell for me. I was completely debilitated every time I took the recommended dosage (2X daily) which gave me severe nausea attacks. Some days my nausea was so bad I wasn't able to get up and go to school and my appetite was suppressed quite a bit because I wasn't feeling well. I went back to the doctor and said that this drug is completely incapacitating me but she said that it is one of the side effects but as my body gets used to it, the nausea will eventually go away. Thankfully by the 2nd week my nausea attacks were gone and my face was starting to improve noticeably. 8 months later, my skin has improved by 95% and my mild breakouts come along with my monthlies, which is quite normal for me. If you are someone who has hit rock bottom and you have nothing to lose because your face is in the worst condition it has ever been, please give this drug a try. It has helped me during the worst possible time in my life and it might help you. Everyone reacts differently to treatments and I can only speak from my own experience but it might just work for you too.

Pros:

Cleared up my Acne inflamation almost right away. I saw results the following morning. I'm also using Diferrin Gel .1%. Can I say it also helps my psoriasis, it's almost gone. I have only one week on minocycline.

Cons:

May interfere with methotraxate. I felt a little dizzy the first hour. Also make sure you don't lay down the first 30 minutes, you get a heartburn.

I would say works wonders, but I will only take it when my acne is really bad as it may have bad side effects in the long run.

Pros:

Clears most of acne

Cons:

Can't be on it forever

I have PCOS, so I have moderate acne. During my period I get cystic acne. My PCOS is moderate. I only have the acne and the hair problem. I am not overweight and I do not have diabetes. My derm put me on Minocycline and I do the occasional chemical peel. It works for me. I do drink the recommended water with the pill. I have been on 50mg twice a day. I haven't had any side effects. I'm also 22. Not sure if that would make a difference in terms of teenage VS. adult acne. Hope this helps someone out there.

Pros:

- works amazingly.
- for me, personally, i do not have any of the ' first few day side affects. '
- ive only been on it for 2 days, and taken 2 pills off 100mg, but ive seen such a difference

Cons:

- the side affects i read that could happen are scary, but it is said that minocycline has the least amount of side affects, so i guess all oral pills have them.
- you are constantly thirsty.

i love it. for me , its was expensive. however, it has been working perfectly in just 2 days ! my old pimples are disappearing, and the small pimples that were hiding behind my skin are now coming out, and also going away. however, the reason that so many people get dizzy when taking this pill is because the pill absorbs water. YOU NEED TO HAVE EXTRA WATER ! you will not get dizzy. i think that you should also go back & check up with your doctor/ dermatologist every few weeks, so he/she can either lower or raise your daily amount. if you take to much. side affects will happen. if you take to little, there will be no results !

Pros:

Works

Cons:

The side effects

Been on this antibiotic for 4 years and it cleared up my moderate-severe acne completely from my face. The best way for this medicine to be effective is: Take 2 daily, each of them at 12 hours apart. The key thing in making this antibiotic effective is having the constant flow of antibiotic in your system, the moment you disrupt the flow then you give the bacteria time to grow and cause acne.

Pros:

Clear Face

Not so oily

More Confidence now i have a clear face!! lol

Cons:

Getting random headaches

(might not be related to antibiotic)

the thing is with all antibiotics your body starts to get used to them so after a while they all stop working.. i was on oxytetracycline previously and my spots cleared up completely for like 6months, but after about 7-8months i noticed they where coming back slowly, so i just went to my doctors and he prescribed me mincycline and they have been workin perfectly..

Pros:

Smooth Skin!

Cons:

Side effects depending on dosage

My dermatologist put me on this for two months and i was initially supposed to take it two times a day, which i did for about a week. The side effect were so horrible i was so incredibly dizzy/nausea and i had no appetite and when i did eat everything tasted gross. it was not fun, however my skin was definitely becoming more smooth, but i just felt too sick. So, my mom called my dermatologist and he said to just take it once a day and since then i have had zero side effects besides smooth skin! I have not gotten one pimple since i have been on this medication. i am so happy i went to my dermatologist and that i called him when things felt like they werent going right. I have absolutely no blemishes now, but i am still taking the medication until i vist my derm in about two and a half weeks and then i slowly get off the medication. I do have marks where my blemishes were but my derm said that when i see him we will focus on getting rid of that. I am so excited! I know this stuff might not work for some people, but it did for me. Bottom line i suggest if you have skin problems and health insurance just go see a dermatologist talk to them about what you have used and how well it worked or didnt and when they give you medication communicate with them if theirs issues or questions, that way you can get the results you want! Also the successfulness of your treatments also can be affected by your lifestyle choices. so drink prenty of water, get rest, exercise, try and steer clear away from dairy products, and dont touch your face unless you have washed your hands :) Good Luck!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
