Pros:

Works at first, takes away redness, and leaves face feeling clean.

Cons:

Stops working after using it for awile, leaves fase very dry and flaky, makes face irrated, does not work for everyone.

I have used this product off and on for a couple of years and only see results in the begining. It leaves my face very flaky and red. It does clear acne but does not stop acne so in the end it is pointless.

Pros:

Less Expensive than Proactiv

Cons:

Consistency of product is horrible. Repair lotion is watery and gritty. Cleanser seems cheap too. Doesn't smell great. Drys skin out too much.

Spends a little more to get the stuff that actually works...Proactiv! It's much better quality and you can usually get a good deal on QVC.

Pros:

Clears and prevents breakouts, does clear blackheads (but it takes awhile).

Cons:

Quite drying, so I only use it a few times a week.

Good product if you're willing to deal with some burning and stinging. If your acne isn't terribly severe, I definitely wouldn't use it twice a day, or even everyday. But all in all, the product works well.

Pros:

Prevents adult pimples from forming. Smoother and Clearer skin after long term usage. Still works for me after 10 years.

Cons:

Causes dryness and discomfort when using at recommended dosage. Does not work for all types of acne (such as ones caused by ingrown hair .. etc). Does not remove blackheads. Active ingredient, Benzo Peroxide, does not work for everyone.

I have been using this product for about 10 years. It works for me; however, I don't recommend this product to everyone because some skin types are simply allergic to the the active ingredient, Benzo Peroxide, even at low dosage. My recommendation? If you are thinking about using this product find out if your skin can tolerate 2.5% Benzo Peroxide. In general, know your skin type and its reaction to active ingredients before using any acne products. Recommended Dosage: I found the recommended dosage of 2X a day to be too harsh on my skin. My regiment is 1X a day (cleanser, toner, moisturizer) in the morning after shave and shower. Delivery Frequency: I have Proactiv delivered once every 6 months. The customer service will accommodates you. This makes the cost more manageable. Additional facial cleansing tip for men: I NEVER use soap for day to day cleansing. It drys up and irritates my skin. I use Neutrogenia's Glycerin based liquid facial cleanser.

Pros:

this is non-irritating yet extremely strong on existing blemishes.

Cons:

extremely expensive. I think I used to use 4 tubes a month! at between $5 & $7 that was a lot of money. I skimped on the product and was always running out because I never stocked up too much because the tubes were so expensive. .75 ounces?no thanks

Buying the acne.org products will give the same (or bettter) results for a much lower price.

Pros:

Clears up skin better than anything I have ever used. Large bottles last a long time so it works out reasonably cheap. Doesn't seem to bleach fabric as bad as other BP products I have used.

Cons:

Can make your face red, I still get red marks on my face sometimes even after 3 months of use. Takes a long time to absorb into the skin.

This stuff works, I used to use a 4% cream which bleached my bedding and clothes far worse than this 2.5% gel. The cream I used didn't work any where near as well as this, I used to wake up every day with new spots now it is rare that I wake up with any new spots. Most of the month I am spotless. I would recommend this to anyone, try it and don't quit because it can take a month or two. I don't know what I would of done if I hadn't found this!!

Pros:

I buy this product since over 3 years. It works great!

I buy this product since over 3 years. It works great! Nearly 100% of the acne is gone. The soap is also excellent. Fast shipping to Germany! Perfect! Thanks alot Mr. Wills! This is the best Product against acne!
May 7, 2008

Pros:

Very affordable. Really worked for myself as well as my daughter. The important thing is to take the time to do all three steps. I keep 1 in the shower and I use it on my chest and back too.

Cons:

How often it is sent. I call and put the order on hold until I use everything up, or I call and just get a box of step one to even out all my unused step 2 and 3, you use alot more of step one then 2, and 3.

Would highly reccommed it to anyone with moderate acne. There is a comparable product at Walmart, Acne free and that works pretty good but is still not as good as the pro active.

Pros:

Works really well for the first few months, cleared up skin and made me buy more of their products thinking it will continue to make my acne problems go away

Cons:

Expensive and they ship it so often I ended up with a lot of it. the biggest con for me was after a few months i noticed it stopped working and my acne came back and i pretty much had tons of their stuff left over

use it if you would like to try it out and you should see some results. however, to treat acne i would recommend going to a dermatologist and getting pills if its serious and if you can afford it because it may be more expensive for medical stuff but in the long tun there will probably be more success

Pros:

I honestly don't have any pros for this product as of now. Maybe the only thing positive I can say is that it smelled ok.

Cons:

I had NEVER had a problem with dry skin until this product. As the matter of fact, I was a little oily in the T-zone and was horrified to see that my skin has aged about 10 years using this product.

Bottom line is I would definitely NOT recommend this product because of the reasons mentioned above. I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone who uses mineral make up, as it made my skin look like somebody had applied latex to it to make me look older...no matter how much moisterizer I applied, my skin was still very, very dry and I noticed no difference, whatsoever, on the pimples that I had...as a matter of fact, I broke out even more!! Hopefully other people had luck with this product, but this is definitely not for me. Sending mine back for refund.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
