Pros:

keeps skin tone consistant- if moisturizer isn't used

Cons:

dries out skin and acne multiplies and multiplies

I at first bought the first two steps and used those what happened was they worked together to keep my skin from breaking out any worse. Then I decided to buy the moisturizer because I thought that would make a differance and would clear skin up. No, that was the last thing it did, it dried up my skin and gave me breakouts in places on my face where i had never had them before. The product isnt really worth the money

Pros:

Better than any other acne product I have used in the past 15yrs. I am 35 years old and have tried every acne product. I have been a faithful proactiv user, this is much better, even more than that, it is the best!!!!!!!

Cons:

None. The only con is that they should take the rest of the other so called acne treatments off the market and replace it with this...

It's the best, my skin looks great, I couldn't say this before. I had a love and hate relationship with my face, yes proactiv did work for me, but only 50%, it cleared the pimples but left the marks and did nothing for my blackheads. This product addresses everything. I love it!!!!

Pros:

the 10% benzolyl peroxide cream is quite good but it didnt get rid of my acne completely and stopped doing much after a while. The toner is good cos it makes skin less oily.

Cons:

it didnt work!! theres so much hype about it but it did not work for me and i am VERY disappointed. it makes your skin extremely dry in the 1st week or two which can actually make you face look worse.

this product may or may not work for you. it didnt work for me and i was very disappointed by this.

Pros:

Clears acne, makes skin feel fresh and smooth, nice tingle

Cons:

Skin feels dry

I've been using this product for years because it actually gets rid of my acne. Before using it I had horrible skin, and now my skin is significantly clearer. The only problem is if you wash your face twice a day as stated in the directions, it will end up drying your face out to the point where it eventually becomes flaky, which is obviously a bad thing. To avoid this I just use the product once a day and as a result don't have any of the dry skin problems while still having no acne. Just use it once a day and you'll be fine. This is one of the better products out there.

Cons:

my face is a lil ichy after i put the toner on ( step 2), but that is what the lotion is for.

I like it and it is affordable.

Cons:

Did NOT work for me.
October 5, 2009

Pros:

clears acne, pleasant tingle, makes face feel clean, removed make-up, bring pimples to head

Cons:

tingle is actually bad for you- irritating skin. left face with blotchy large, red pores after 3.5 weeks of use. smells awful, then you get used to it. burns when you get anywhere near eyes

At first this product was a miracle, but after using 2 times a day, my skin just became oilier to compensate for the extreme drying of this product and I already had oily skin. The blotchy, painful, large red pores were awful. I would not recommend using this product.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
