Pros:

Makes skin smooth and clear. Easy to use. Is great to shave with also! Mild scent. All natural & no animal testing.

I used to have regular and cystic acne. As an adult, I have tried everything through the years. Nothing worked for any length of time. Then, I happened upon Carley's while shopping on ebay. Figured it couldn't hurt. Within days, my skin was showing a difference! I have found that what works best for me is not to use a wash cloth, but to use my hands. Wash my hands and rinse, then lather up with Carley's soap, wash face and rinse, use scrub and rinse, then lather up, wash and rinse soap again. No worries over bleaching wash cloths, or having a clean one each time. And it still works great! Had a little trouble with the cystic acne at first, but found that cutting caffeine from my diet did the trick! Now, between no caffeine and Carley's, I am blemish free!! Yeah! Have also found that if I use the soap to shave my legs with, I don't get those little irritated red bumps on my thighs that I used to get. I have discussed these products with many people, and have even given slices off of new bars of soap to folks for them to try. I can't say enough!! I am sold!

Pros:

It clears out all acne and is a very affordable and non-stink acne cream unlike other types.

Cons:

It dries out a TINY, LITTLE, MICROSCOPICAL amount of skin.

Buy it, it'll make your skin look, feel, and be as soft as a baby's but again.BUY IT

Not a good product at all. It is overpriced and it ruins your skin because it is really harsh and drying.

Pros:

Only thing I found that can clear my skin!

Cons:

Smell, Bleaches Towels

I have struggled with acne for 15 years. My skin is red and constantly burns, and covered in acne. I used to cake on foundation to try to hide it, and had no confidence. I finally tried Proactive, and within a week the redness and burning had gone done. 2 months and my acne was totally gone. I had even stopped wearing foundation! Recently I decided to find something more gentle. I tried many different products, and started breaking out again. I used Proactive to clear my skin up before trying something else. I have decided to go back to Proactive, even though it ruins my towels and sheets, and I have even lost a few shirts. To me having clear skin is worth it. I find using the sulfur mask helps cut down on the oiliness.

Pros:

Animal Free
Lasts a long time
Good price

Cons:

For some people it might take longer to work

I have been ordering the the Industrial Strength formula from you for almost a year now.. and i must say that it has been the only thing that has controlled my hormonal acne that I have tried. When people say that they have spent thousands on skin and face products they are usually being sarcastic, but I actually mean it when I say I HAVE spent thousands on products... you can check my bank statements for proof. I have tried cheap products from the drugstore, I have tried expensive ones from Nordstroms, and Sephora, and [link removed].... but NOTHING has delivered quite like your products have. I will admit it was hard in the beginning, since my face needed time to adjust, but I stuck with it because even though it was still breaking out, it was less than before. Now almost a year later, I rarely if ever get bad breakouts, and usually the blemishes that do pop up, are smaller and not soo red. I have never really received comments on how good my skin looks before, and now that my skin has adjusted to the system, i get a lot of them and mostly from people that are also having acne problems, or even employees at Nordstroms or Sephora as well as my co-workers. I have recommended this product to many people and a few have actually took the leap and tried it and are very happy with it. The only thing I wish was a little different is that I wish I could use the anti-age products. For some reason my face just wants nothing to do with them. I would also like to use the overnight cream for acne prone skin... it too makes my face breakout a bit. But that does not deter my liking this product. I just have to accept that all products are not made for my picky, and insanely sensitive skin. So if you have tried everything and anything that exists for acne problems and or dryness or all around unappealing skin... then try this. You wont regret it. : )

Pros:

Very inexpensive, lasts a long time, simple to use. For every bottle of product you buy you get one free bar of natural soap and if you buy three products at one time you will get a fourth free.

Cons:

Nothing really but if I have to point out anything it would be that the cleansing is a two step process.

At first I wasnt sure if the product worked or if I liked it. I am 42 years old and have very sensitive skin and most products make me break out more or only work for a little while and then stop working. I usually get the small little pimples on my forehead as my face is very oily and I tend to also get little pimples on my chest and shoulders when I work out. I came across this product on the internet and decided to try it out as I have tried everything else including prescription medication and it was really quite cheap so I figured i couldnt go wrong. When i first used the product it made my skin SUPER oily and I almost stopped using it. I thought it was the matural bar of soap as I read the ingredients i thought for sure it was the source of all the oil on my face but i decided to keep using it and hoped that my face would balance itself out. i am glad i did because I would never ever use anything else on my face again. Sure my face is still oily but not nearly as bad as before using this product. It worked so good that I told my 18 yr old son who broke out in huge cystic type to give it a try and it worked just as good for him. Now if have another son who is starting to get acne at the age of 13 so I started him on the product as well. This is the only product that I will ever use again, it simple works that well. So stop wasting your money on all the other acne stuff and give this a try. You wont be disappointed!!!!

Pros:

made my skin softer, but my acne worse!!

Cons:

Everything! I started to get even MORE acne than I already had- cystic, small bumps, everything. .

I tried this product when I had light acne- when I was younger- it worked for me then; made my skin clear and soft. But now I have very severe acne, and it made my skin softer, but didnt clear up my acne at all! I called up ProActive and they told me that I would break out more to purge out the bad acne I already have, but I continued to have worse skin for MONTHS after using it, so I quit completely. I will never go back to this product ever again.

Pros:

Just a scrub, use it once a day and you're done! no sleeping with icky stuff on your face anymore.

Cons:

The teenageformula is very drying, the it takes a looong time to work, it gets worse before it gets better and it didn't clear me

This company is one of the friendliest you can find! And I do love love their other products, especially the soap and the daytime moisturizer. But the scrubs did not help me much. I tried both the original formula and the kickassformula. Yes they made my skin very smooth and did reduce blackheads, redness and minor pimples but did nothing for the cysts.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
