Pros:

Cheaper than drug stores by far!
Works wonders with the regimen!!!
Easy to apply, doesn't smell or stain and doesn't hurt

Cons:

International shipping costs
Not readily available

This BP is the best I have ever bought.. It goes on so easily and doesn't really sting as much as the others. It also dries clear and has been working wonders for my face in only a short while! I will only use this BP from now on.. Thanks acne.org!

Pros:

I'm 28 years old, and have had acne since I was 17. I went from large painful lumps all over my face, to have light acne via having an incredibly healthy diet. But despite everything, I'd still get light acne, and I'd never know when spots were going to show up and ruin my day. Benzoyl instantly cleared my face, making it clearer than it's ever been before, and I'm amazed that now it just stays like that. No redness. No inflammation. No scabs and scars. No spots. Feels amazing.

Cons:

None that I can think of.

I didn't want to put harsh chemicals on my face, as I'd had bad experiences in the past. But this product truly works, and works extremely well. There is no acne treatment out there that is as effective. NB I use the rest of the regimen products also - the moisturizer, AHA+, and the cleanser.

Pros:

Works for my skin
No more breakouts
Monthly delivery

Cons:

Dries skin out

Works for my skin, I haven't had a bad breakout since I started using it. I just wish that I had tried it years ago. It has given me confidence back again. My recommendations is to try it once regardless of negative reviews because it works for me, I will continue using it for life. The only issue I have been with it is it dries out my skin so I need to use moisturizer regularly but it beats having acne!!

Pros:

Am nearing 40 yrs. of age and started breaking out on my neck and chin area a couple of years ago. Came across Carley's and couldn't believe the difference in just a couple of weeks! My friend and teenage daughter are now using! Love that you don't have to spend a fortune and that it is safe!

Definitely worth every penny!

Pros:

Gentle, highly effective, lasting results, non-irritating, non-drying, good value

Cons:

none

I have used this product for about 10 years on my stubborn chest and back acne. The acne will go away, and sometimes I will get lazy and stop using this treatment, and the breakouts always come back. It takes about a month of regular use to get rid of all my breakouts (including healing old ones), so be patient and keep using it as instructed. It will work, and your skin will feel soft, not dry and peeling like with other acne meds. I am SO thankful for this product!!

Not worth the time. The cleanser is gritty and I think its supposed to ecfoliate, but It just irritated my skin. I am still not sure if a person even needs a toner.

After about a month using Coral Actives acne cleansing car, I'd say it is a good alternative to Panoxyl 10%, but not as effective. I will definitely switch back to Panoxyl once it returns to the market.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
