Pros:

completley reduced redness and pimple size in the first two days of using the products! This is Way better than Proactiv!!

Cons:

The night cream makes your face feel tight.

Its working and it has been the first time where i dont need much makeup to go out in public.

Pros:

It clears up your skin... at first

Cons:

Left my skin irritated, red, blotchy, and dry. I have extremely oily skin, and I thought this would work.

It works miracles for some... and is a disaster for most. Don't believe the hype, and it's really expensive and not worth it. Stick to Neutrogena and Biore!

Pros:

It works very well.

Cons:

The cost is way too much. The toner seems to irritate the skin more. When you first order you automatically are set up to recieve this expensive product more than you would like. It also stains your sheets, if they are anything but white.

I love Proactiv! I just have problem skin, evene though I'm 24 years old. I scrape up the money to buy it because it is so expensive. I think it is worth it though, because it makes my skin appear radiant and clear. I'm not just saying this either! I only use the cleanser, repairing lotion, and the mask. I would recommend this to those who have oliy, problem skin.

okay well so far i dont have any more new acne.. i havent used this product for a very long time and so im not really sure of its results yet, i got it..3 days ago, at night, and so yeah the first two days, i didnt really notice any difference, but because it was 10%Bp i was a little afraid it would cause dryness and irritation and thus more acne, well apparently my skin is INSANELY oily...because even when i use a lot of this, and no moisturizer.. not only is my skin NOT dry, its actually still oily...so yeah anyways um okay well i have cysts.. and quite a few of them and now my acne has..pretty much gone away i guess but i think the acne isnt whats so bad, its the red/brown marks from all my previous cysts that plague me so, but um yeah if you're skin is incredibly oily like mine this is a pretty good product, although yesterday i guess i didnt wash it off completely or something cuz it burned like in the area around my nose oh yeah and its cheap which is good i think it was like $7?

Pros:

Cleanser wasn't half bad.

Cons:

Dried out skin horribly, turned my face a bright red, just really irritating. Didn't clear me up at all.

I decided to go ahead and give it a try since it was so advertised I was like "Oh what the heck?". I have to say, it had been the most horrible thing I have ever tried. It made my face itch horribly, turned my face red all over and didn't do anything for my acne. I don't even have my acne that bad, and it was still horrible for my skin.

This is the best product on the market. I've tried every product out there- every wash, astringent, cream, pill, every otc drug and at least a dozen products perscribed by the dermatologist. This stuff is amazing. All you have to to is wash with a gentle cleanser like cetaphil and then apply loads of this gel. wash it off in the morning and moisturize. You'll see results in a day, and you'll be clear in a week. After years of struggle I am completely clear and I owe it all to persa gel.

Pros:

Works well for spot treatment. Clears up acne I can feel under the skin before it comes to the surface.

Cons:

Pricey-but lasts a long time if only used for spot treatment. Very drying for all over use.

Definitely recommend it for spot treatment, not all over the face.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
