Pros:

Works great. Clears.

Cons:

Dries skin.

Bottom Line is people need to follow directions. This product does work. However if you are not allergic to BP it should work. Simply get some moisturizing cream of some sort and apply it to the facial areas which Proativ was used on. If you just let a powerful product settle on your face of course it's going to become a mess. READ DIRECTIONS AND USE COMMON SENSE WITH SUCH SUBSTANCES PEOPLE!

Pros:

I used this product for most of college and it worked amazingly well. I had perfectly clear skin for 4 years.

It works best if you wash your face than apply heavily at night then not at all during the day.

Cons:

There aren't any that I remember except you have to use more than you expect.

I'm trying it again on my chin region. Works better than proactiv and is 10000000x cheaper.

Pros:

excellent price
pleasant scent, rinses off easily (cleanser)
leaves skin very soft

Cons:

might be overly drying on sensitive skin
have to be consistent in using to achieve results

Overall, I am very happy with this product. I have sensitive skin, and I found that if I use the products every other day (instead of what they recommend on the bottles), I achieve a good balance of keeping acne away and not drying out my skin. It does seem to cause less drying and peeling on my skin than other cleansers. Be careful with the spot treatment stuff - it works well but it is very strong. Only a little bit is needed. The cleanser rinses off the skin very well and skin feels very clean. The toner and repair lotion feel nice too - although go light on the repair lotion - you don't need a lot, just a think film. Too much and it can feel a bit greasy. overall, this is a good deal (esp if you buy the packs at Costco) and is worth trying. definitely cheaper than ProActive Solutions and no hassles with delivery or money back guarantees.

Pros:

only useful item is the sulfur mask, stay away from the rest of the lineup! "P. Diddy" and Vanessa Williams now have golden toilet bowls thanks to your insecurities.Proactive should be boycotted!!!

Cons:

expensive, unpleasant odor that actually burns everything in its path, cheap pyramid scheme operation, reptile skin , face is worse than ever. They send you a new "kit" every 2 weeks when it should be no less than a month and do charge STOP PAYMENT

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE , I've had acne since I hit puberty, the most severe being in my early teens then a gradual clearing to a moderate in my late teens/early 20's. Honestly, I've tried just about everything with no success but always wanted to try Proactive since the first infomercial back in 95(I was to young to order and my parents said it was a scam). Then my acne became less of an issue until I saw the infomercial when I was 22.I thought if that can work for people with severe acne, then this will work wonders for my mild to moderate acne. After 3 days my skin was immaculate, then all hell broke loose. Within a week I developed intense acne of all classifications and the driest skin I never could have imagined. I stopped use after 2 months but to this day I still am left with this strange type of blackhead that covers my entire face(before I only had on my nose and chin)and cystic acne(which I never really had). Three years later my face is a mess thanks to that scam...

Pros:

dries skin... thus drying acne out. cheap. really easy to use, just a bar of soap.

Cons:

dried around my eyes and nose alot for the first week or 2. but w/e... just use moisturizer!

I used MURAD since July. It sucked... didn't really work at all and seemed to only make my acne worse. So... i gave up. I went to the doc, got prescription for PANOXYL and started using it. WOW! wat a difference too! i also started used this differen cream that i had b4 i used that at night and the panoxyl in the morning. my face looks the best it has since july! i can definately tell its getting better and better every week! and ive only been using the differin/panoxyl for 2 weeks!! seriously, i had pretty bad acne as a result of using Murad. when i switched to differin/panoxyl like 2 weeks ago, my face did a complete 180 turn (even though its not completely gone but it IS gettin there!) truuuuust meeee

Pros:

Smoothes skin and de-greases oily skin

Cons:

redness, irritation and flaking

After using a very small amount for the first time, I woke the next morning to find I looked like I had sun burnt. My skin was sore and irritable. Although I suffered these side effects I persisted but used even less BP or gave myself a break inbetween days. After 2 weeks my skin is much smoother and less oily, however I still have a few spots and skin is flakey. It's worth a try but maybe not for those with sensitive skin.

Pros:

Almost everything, especially because it's cheaper than Proactiv and it does the same job.

Cons:

It could smell better. The consistency of the cleanser is a little rough on the skin and the repairing lotion is a little watery.

It gets the job done.

Pros:

It works at first, but once you are using it for a while, it doesn't really do anything more

Cons:

-its really hard on your skin

When I stopped using it, my skin turned out worse than before. I am now left with scarring and more acne that has been very hard to get under control. I would NOT recomend it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
