Pros:

Worked really quickly thought I wouldn't need anything else but then it got too strong I switched for a while. Now I need it back because the 5% will not quickly clear up this summer season.

Cons:

Drying made me dark I guess I should have not left it on my face too long or rubbed too hard as well

use 10 percent for bad break outs maybe only once a day and then switch back to 5% for maintenance and a moisturizer

Pros:

-smells nice
-cleanser leaves skin smooth
-additional mask works well

Cons:

-while the mask works, it dried my skin
-it improved my skin, but never fully healed it
-my acne was bad on my chin, and then just moved to being bad by my nose

Overall, it merely 'improved' my skin. I used it for almost a year and bought the kit twice, and each time nothing was completely solved. It seemed of of moved my blemishes from one part of my face to another.

Pros:

Small bottle - easy to pack for traveling, but the cheap plastic can easily be broken. Consistently work. I have tried $450/treatment cosmetic laser, plastic surgeon's Solvere, Proactiv, Elizabeth Arden, Clinique, Neutrogena, Clerasil, Clean &Clear

Cons:

Try not to get it around the eyes; the fumes will burn your eyes, and you'll start crying/tearing up. It takes a while for your eyes to not get irritated after the fumes irritate it. The formula is extremely runny, and the lid/cap is easily broken.

It will consistently work. Most products that I have tried only works in the beginning. Then after your skins gets accustomed to the product, it stops working/taking effect. It does not clear my entire face, but heavily reduces the amount and severity of my acne. Due to the high benzoyl peroxide, you might see several small bumps like chicken skin appearances due to extreme dryness. The formula did bleach my towel and a little of my front bangs. Try Mederma for acne scars and blemishes; it has helped quickly reduce old and new blemishes. I never had acne in my life until after moving to Cincinnati two years ago from Dallas, TX. Since my skin is extremely oily (almost to a new category of greasy even though I don't work at a restaurant), I use the max face wash and then apply the cleansing pad. I don't even bother to apply moisturizer anymore since I have an unlimited supply of face oil, but apply some sort of lotion or anti-wrinkle serum is necessary around the eye

Pros:

Works great! Love how it goes on. Very affordable and great customer service.

Cons:

None that I can think of

I had moderate acne and this really helped. BP works great on my asian skin. I've finally taken the time to make sure the gel sinks in and it's worth it. Now I just have to find a moisturizer that will work and kill the shine. But this BP is the best!

Pros:

Have fewer zits now then when i started
reduced size of zits

Cons:

still breakout often
face is always red, frequently dry

I broke out really bad a few years ago, especially on my chin. I have used Proactiv for about 3 years now, mostly because I tried everything else and nothing worked. I do use it religiously twice a day. My acne is much less then it was, but I still have mild acne. I have the small bumps under the skin all over my chin (which Proactiv claims to get rid of); they used to be huge so I guess I can deal with them now. I wear makeup pretty much every day which could be a problem.

Pros:

I love this product. My face is smooth, I don't remember having skin like this in years. I can feel confident that I will not wake up with a huge zit on my face, or feel down because my skin does not look like everyone else's. I will continue to use.

When a product does what it says, I have no complaints. Can be drying- use moisturizer, and a dab will do wonders.

Pros:

Cleared up reddness on the first use
Didn't dramatically dry my skin
Very easy to use

Cons:

Runny from the bottle

Otherwise, nothing else!!!

I 100% L-O-V-E this product!!! In 3 months I have gone from zits and red to fab and clear! No I still get occasional zits but they are hormonal. I use it once in the shower for the mornings then before I go to bed for the past 95 days! So simple and since I travel back and fourth it is very easy to bring along. I have used many products before such as Acne Free, Neutrogena Wave, Neutrogena Advanced, so on and so fourth and each kit priced about 15+ dollars. Insane! Now I pay monthly (if that) about 7 dollars a bottle and I proundly give my money away for magic in a bottle. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
