Pros:

This stuff is AMAZING! Not only did it clear my skin, but it clears it fast. In less than two months, my skin has become completely clear, but I started seeing results in just 2 weeks. Its very affordable, and 1 bottle will last for a very long time.

Cons:

for the first 2-3 weeks, there was redness, irritation and peeling. You have to wait a while before it dries completely. if you used this product, I strongly suggest AHA+ and a good moisturizer.

This is the best product I've ever used for my acne. It works great, and it lasts a looong time. Just follow the regimen, and your skin will become acne-free. My skin hadn't been acne-free since grade 4, and I really have to thank Dan for making this product. you wont regret buying this product.

Pros:

It works well no matter what skin type you have, dry, oily, tough, smooth you name it will work. Buy the soap & the acne scrub wash together!!!

Cons:

I wished I would have found this in my early teenage years.

Does not matter what the color skin you have, what gender, or allergies to skin formulas. You either want to heal your skin problem no matter where it may be on your body, Back, neck, arms, face, legs.. Just give this time, I had my acne for years. I first saw results truly about 1 1/2 to 2 months into using this product. it took another month or 2 to truly believe in the product because I had went thru so many failures. I had to stop using all the other products like many on this site have said example Proactiv, among the ones & also what the doctors were prescribing & feeding me pills, I even did acne statin when I first heard about it. There are mutiple benefits I have received from using these products. I can go out in public and not worry about people staring at me. I got my confidence back, I look everyone in the eye as an equal. I dont stare at the ground or hide behind glasses and sweat shirts hoodies! The product is affordable! So what do you have to lose???

Pros:

It totally cleared my face up and I no longer have any whiteheads or cysts

Cons:

If you order off the TV 800 ad your credit card will be billed even after you request it not to be. Then you will be told the charges will not go through and they will! Then they will promise you a refund to the credit card and it will never appear

then you will have to call the 800 # once again to be told "we deleted you credit card information and was unable to issue a refund. Bottom line buy it in the mall where the prices are the same and you wont have to call an 800 # constantly for the same reasons. Ordering from the 800 ad is just NOT worth all the hassles and my time is valuable!

Pros:

NONE!!

Cons:

Dried out my skin, made my acne worse, bleaches everything you touch afterwards

I used this product for a year, and when I started I had mild-moderate acne. It helped for a bit, but then I began breaking out again, so I stopped using the product. I immediately broke out in severe acne, the worst I had in my entire life, and found similar reactions from other people's experiences online. My skin had become dependent on the product. My face is now broken out and scarred. I DO NOT recommend this product for anyone unless you are prepared to use it for the rest of your life...

Pros:

Leaves the skin super soft
eliminates breakouts
makes inflamation of pimples go down, less redness, less horrible breakouts

Cons:

-price, it hurts a bit to pay 50 bucks, but then again worth it to pay only 50 every 3 months

I've been using this product for 3 years now and my face has been clear. I started using it when I started to breakout at 18 yrs with acne rosacea. After getting some antibiotics, I decided to get proactiv to stop taking antibiotics and this has cleared it ever since. I do get a zit/pimple every now and then but usually last 1-2 days and they are not horrible, they're fairly contained. If this dries your skin, use some face moisturizing lotion, that what I do and my face is always super soft and clear. I get my proactiv from a proactiv kiosk at the mall that makes everything super easy. This is not a cure for acne obviously but it's a way to contain it, and also watch your lifestyle, stress factors, etc which can cause breakouts.

Pros:

It pretty much completely cleared up my acne, and made most scars fade completely.

Cons:

My skin is fairly dry after use, so I have to put on the clinique lotion too...which makes my face sometimes moderately oily.
It's also pretty expensive.

When I first started using it my cheeks and chin got so dry that they turned bright red and painful. Of course, I started using is in January when Ottawa is pretty cold and skin drying, so that couldn't have helped. They stayed that way for a couple weeks, and then I got some more moisturizer for after everything, and my skin got used to the stuff. The only thing is that I am afraid of what'll happen when I have to stop using this product...because I'm pretty sure my skin is addicted to it. I don't notice that it having any smell, it's just dry flakiness that I have problems with. Good luck!

Pros:

Worked for me, very affordable price compared to the other competitors

Cons:

Overly drying at first, ridiculously very hard to squeeze out of the bottle due to tiny dispensing holes

I've been using the product (original version, not the severe or sensitive skin versions) for about a month now and I can say that I'm fairly satisfied with the results. The first setback I encountered when using the product for the first time was that I couldn't even squeeze the Step 1 Cleanser stuff out of the bottle. How this passed the manufacturing stage is beyond me. I heard some bottles have this "flaw". But luckily, poking a hole with a knife seems to resolve the issue easily. Anyways, using the product at first dried out my skin which I kind of expected. You just have to use the product in small amounts at the beginning so that your skin will gradually tolerate it. The only thing I'm worried about is if the product will continue to work for me in the long run because Proactiv quit working for me after several months as if my skin just became immune to it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
