Pros:

The natural soap, the free samples, the company's willingness to refund you and answer your questions

Cons:

The irritation it caused to my skin, the length of time it would take for breakouts to heal, the constant new breakouts

This particular product actually made my skin worse. I really wanted it to work, I stuck with it for several months, and tried many of their products. Unfortunately, all it did was irritate my skin more and give me several new breakouts and red marks. Their other products were wonderful, but I don't how it could NOT irritate someone's skin with the scrubbing daily...I was under the impression this actually spread bacteria and caused more inflammed and angry breakouts...which is what it seemed to do for me. Your skin can take about 6 weeks to turn over, but my esthetician says if you don't see ANY improvement at that point with a product, you're probably not going to see any. I stuck with it for about 3-4 months before giving up. Many of the reviews out there do seem to sound the same, and if they are real people writing them-it's awesome that this worked for them. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. Fortunately, the company has very good customer service in answering questions and working out refunds with you. They stand by their product, which is always very important.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Severe rash from using it just once
Dries skin out severely
Too expensive for the result I got

I had used Clinique Acne solutions in the past and it worked great - they must have changed the formula. I bought this on Monday, used the three steps before bed Monday night. Tuesday morning my face felt a little dry and was red, as if I had a slight sunburn. As the day wore on, it got redder, felt tight and itchy and started to burn. Wednesday morning my face is very red, tight and itchy. This is worse than the reaction I got with Proactiv, which I used three times. With Proactiv I ended up in emergency after my eyes started to swell shut. I would not recommend this product if you have sensitive skin. The combination of salicylic acid in the cleanser and toner with the benzoyl peroxide in the moisturizer is a deal breaker for me. I will be asking for a full refund ASAP.

Clears Acne, Affordable

Cons:

Dries Skin, Small quantity

I like this benzoyl peroxide, I made the switch from salicylic acid to BP before stumbling upon the regimen so I had this on hand when I started my regimen daily. I think I will make the switch to Acne.org treament since it's more for your money...

Pros:

Affordable and easy to get.
The cleanser made my face feel softer.

Cons:

Uneffective after a couple weeks of even consistent usage.
Made me break out more before it cleared some of my acne. And only a few blemishes cleared up.

It says your face clears up in 3 days. Not for me. I tried to be patient and continued using it for about a month. Now, I don't use it as often. I only use the cleanser every other night and I get the same results of using the cleanser every other night vs using the cleanser, toner, AND lotion twice every day.

Pros:

I don't see any.

Cons:

-3 step process
-Small bottles that break easily
-It dries your skin
-irritates it quite a bit
-Stings you skin
-Very hard to cancel shipping

I hated proactiv. I was about 12-13 when I used if for about a year or so. My acne was pretty bad at that point. I kept using it expecting something from it like it said on t.v. Bascally it dries and irritates your skin. NEVER WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP.

Pros:

Works very well and leaves my skin feeling soft.

Cons:

nothing

It works and the reason i said there are no cons is because even though it does dry your skin if you use a mouisturizer above it and your face is not sensitive then your ok. So i have very light acne but enough to were people notice it and i started using ProActive but it worked for 2 weeks then made my acne worse and it is so expensive and the shipping sucks so i decided to use this because it's cheaper and i can get it at the store. I personally love it and i recommened using neutrogena advanced solutions.

Pros:

Seems to work pretty good! I've only been using it a couple days and my skin feels better.

Cons:

It dries your skin out (but what acne product doesn't?)

I have had acne since I was a teen and now I'm almost 30. I was pretty clear for awhile, but recently, breakouts have cropped up again, so I added this product to my daily routine. My face seems to be clearing nicely and even though it says 10%, it isn't irritating like I thought it would be.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
