Pros:

Did not Burn.
Felt Great Using it.

Cons:

Takes a bit to use.
Small Tube.

This is wonderful on my face. It does not burn my face and I feel great using it. It dries quickly and makes my face feel tight so I know it is dry. I personally like the quick drying and face feeling tight. My face only started do burn, when I put my first moisturizer on after this dries.

Pros:

Gets rid of pimples fast
Really works!
Cheap
Don't need a prescription to get it

Cons:

Dried out my skin(make sure to use moisterizer!)

I've never had a face wash that was this effective. I love this stuff. Make sure you moisterize, and only use a small amount for your entire face. I'm so very satisfied with the results I got from using this product and you will be too! Buy itttt (:

Pros:

-helps minor, small acne
-exfoliates nicely albeit twice a day is a lot
-leaves skin looking very fresh & feeling smooth
-helps control oil if you have oily skin

Cons:

-does nothing for cystic acne (for me anyways)
-I have dry skin already and this made it worse and almost unmanageable even with a very moisturizing moisturizer
-expensive
-must use religiously
-irritates my skin, albeit my skin is sensitive and very pale
-my mom ordered it for me and said the customer service was awful, and I've never heard her complain about any service before
-too much exfoliation in my opinion

If you have mild acne this product would be excellent with a proper moisturizer, but if you're looking for something that will help with cystic I would not recommend this. I was always told and read that you should not exfoliate more than a couple times a week, and this has you exfoliating twice a day - very rough on your skin. If your skin is very sensitive and/or dry I would also not recommend this product as it will more likely do more harm than good! Best of luck. xx

Pros:

Makes my face feel clean! So easy to use! Cleared my face up! Lasts longer then they say it will; I stretched my 1 month set to almost 2 months without really scrimping! I highly recomend it; it's the only acne product that has worked on me and trust me I tried them all! Thanks Proactiv!

Cons:

The only con I found is not really a con. You just have to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! Most of the people who say proactiv doesn't work don't follow the directions and don't give the stuff a chance to work. Also a lot of people have trouble with the online ordering so I found out that there are vendors just like soda venders and there was one at my mall. how about that no shipping fee or anything and same price! I deffinently recommend finding one of these vendors to get you producsts.

I've been using proactiv for about 4 months and my face is clearest its been since I was like 10! I'm eighteen and I got the stuff as a last ditch effort before I went to prescription type stuff and I'm so glad I did. Sure, it seems expencive and it is but when you compare it to prescription acne meds it way way cheeper and I know because I know people who used them. I love proactiv and I have fair sensitive skin that tends to be oily and after like 2 days I could not only see a difference in my skin but could also feel a difference in the texture. Instead of big open pores and ruff blistors, my skin felt softer and more tight (in a good way :) The big change didn't happen overnight but at a steady rate I got better and better. Then one week I looked at my face and was like "wow"! I can actually go out in public without any cover up on (and I was really good at using it before) and I don't feel ashamed of my bare face. I now feel clean, clear, and beautiful! If your reading reviews like I was and are trying to decide whether you should try it, go for it! After all you don't have anything to loose and you will propobly find out what I did, IT REALLY WORKS!!!!

Pros:

-smoothest BP I've ever used
-clear on skin, no smell
-the 2.5% formula is not nearly as drying
-the price is great! the 16 oz bottle lasted me 6 months
-cleared my acne in 2 weeks

Cons:

-You have to use quite a bit.
-takes awhile to dry and soak in to skin
-still get occasional small pimples
-can be drying if you don't use enough moisturizer

This is the best BP I've ever used and the price is great compared to how much I was spending on small tubes of BP. It goes on very smooth. It cleared my skin in about 2 weeks and I've been able to cut back to using half of what Dan recommends. It has kept me clear for 6 months except for the occasional pimple that usually is small and goes away quickly. I used to have moderate cystic hormonal acne. I use it with Dan's AHA which is a great product also. I use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer also. It did turn my skin red at first for maybe 30 min after application but this reaction completely subsided in a week or so once my skin got used to it.

Pros:

fast acne clearing results
takes away redness
evens out skin tone

Cons:

NONE!

I've been struggling for a few years and have tried so many different products for my acne, but NOTHING worked on me . . . until now. I'm so thankful for this product. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks already and my face has gotten so much better and looks a lot clearer in such short amount of time. Totally works -- THANKS DAN!

Pros:

None.

Cons:

Went from light acne to very severe acne after using the product.
Expensive.

I'm 21 years old and my skin was always relatively good but I had some spot scars that I wanted to try and get rid of so decided to try ProActiv... absolute disaster. I used it for about a month with my skin continuing to get worse (I kept using it as I thought it's maybe just the storm before the calm) but after the month had had enough waiting and stopped using it. It is now two months later and my skin is horrible. I have now very severe acne that I am doing everything to get rid of. I am continuously self conscious about my skin and it is all I can think of when talking to anyone. Expensive product ( £40 sterling) that did nothing but make my skin 100 times worse than it was :( Do not use this!!

Pros:

smells nice
leaves skin feeling fresh

Cons:

dried my skin
never really cleared up my acne

after trying everything like clearasil, cold water, changing diet i then went on to pro active it worked sometimes nut then eventually made it all worse it got that bad that i quit college because i wouldnt bare people looking at me and i quit my modeling too. sounds pathetic but acne scars you on the inside more than on the out. i then went onto Duac that worked wonders for me for about 6 months never had a breakout then it started again so now im on doxy for about a month now and i use tea tree oil at night with it. seems to be working really well my skin feels really good my natural tone is back without the really red cheeks. im not sure if its the tea tree or doxy but i would reconmend tea tree or tose water from booys.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
