HELP OTC
I am the type of person who likes to try weird stuff to get rid of issues like acne. Istumbled upon the caveman regimen where you stop washing your face and only rinse with water. And my face blew up. Then i thought, I will try oil cleansing to fix this. BAD IDEA. If you have acne prone skin, i would not suggest using oil cleansing to clear skin, maybe only to maintain clear skin. At any rate, I freaked out and started trying everything I used to have: proactiv, cetaphil, neutrogena, high percentage BP creams. Antiobiotics. Nothing worked. Mind you, this is in the span of two months (jan 1st 2016-end of feb 2016). My facr responded to none of it. I had the most severe acne, it was cystic and so painful. And it would spread. Every morning I had two to three new zits. I caught on to all of the reviews on other products that people would stay didnt work but hey you should try acne.org products. Purchased because BP typically works for my skin. I had been using proactiv even though it wasnt working for a month, so i thought this transition would be easy. It was not. Be prepared for flakes and redness, it is uncomfortable. However, I found that cetaphil moisturizer (the kind in the jar for face or body) worked the best because it was so thick, it would soak up all the flakes. I did not like the acne.org moistorizer. I didnt like the yellowness and it is kind of thin. I was consistent every morning and every night. I started using close to 3 pumps of BP. and about 2 weeks in i got aha and use that only at night in place of a moistorizer. It took a full 8 weeks to rid my face of any active zits. But my face is so smooth now! Hyperpigmentation is annoying right now, as I am a tan complexion and so the redness sticks around for awhile. But anything is better than zits!

not fake at all!

Yes they have THOUSANDS of positive reviews and they are all fake lol. I've been with Carley's for years. This is the only product that has ever cleared my skin. It makes you worse for a bit because you purge. Sadly, I moved and the water type changed. It stopped working. I tried a ton of chemical crap after that and managed to do more damage to my skin than anything else. These guys care so much that they suggested another product from another company to try to restore my skin's biome to undo some of the harm before going back to their product. I don't know many companies that will refer you to another and not make a dime if they think it's what's best for your skin at the moment. I buy my moisturizers from them and the repair cream. Wonderful products. You might not have liked it but saying that all the reviews are fake is just silly. PS: I'm in Canada and they are in Orlando Florida. So I have nothing to do with the company other than buying their products. They have a ton of faithful customers. A lot of people don't use the products as they should. I read some people on here crying that it doesn't work but they left the product on their skin like a mask. Others used it every now and then... The one product that I don't like from them is their lipgloss.

I also got tricked by the positive reviews, the product made my skin worse, I 100% believe most of these reviews are fake because so many people come to this site looking for solutions for their acne, it's free advertising. One way to see if a reviewer is a fake account is to check out their profile, see how many reviews they've made for other products.

Skin is dry and flaky!
I have had acne for probably 5 years. I'm a sophomore in high school and my acne has turned me into the most antisocial person you'll ever meet, because I'm so embarrassed to be in public where I know all anyone looks at is my skin. I decided to try something new because my proactiv plus just wasn't doing the trick. I had been using it for a long time and still just wasn't consistently clear. I have been using the regimen for almost 3 weeks now and my skin is disgusting. My acne is worse than it was, but that isn't the biggest issue. It is so dry than my face is flaking. It's really embarrassing and uncomfortable. I ordered the jojoba oil yesterday because I heard that might help. I'll post again after seeing if that works!

I second that. It took 2-3 months for my dryness to clear but man was it ever worth it. Just slather on moisturizer whenever you need it.

Please read
I've been having acne like almost all my life its been 8 years I used alot of acne products iso pills, antibiotics and drying skin product for acne... What I wannaa say is if u have more than 25 active acne u start taking iso but actually thats the worst thing to do due to the side effects but yet doctors recommend it in that condition Antibiotics yeah they work but u gotta repeat the thing every month as if its a routine which destroys ur skin immunity as skin wont fight acne naturally it'll wait for the antibiotics And for the drying products they so many But guys please give it at least one month(average) it differs from one another its about how oily up skin is and according to that it takes time to dry it up, more breakouts appears since its drying it from the inside to the outside its trying to get rid of all the excessive oil, and i believe that product helps and alot give it a chance to work

Not for me
I have struggled with moderate/severe cystic acne since I was 12 (I'm currently a 31 y.o. female). I followed this regimen exactly for 4 months with absolutely no improvements in my skin. If you have hormonal acne, this may not work for you.

Proactive Solution
I use the whole Proactiv System, but I think it's the Repairing Lotion that does most of the work. The 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide is gentle enough to use over the whole face, which allows you to treat acne before it appears. The lotion formula feels moisturizing. I still only use it at night. I tried using it during the day, and it was too much. I got really dry and scaly. A light coating at night all over my t-zone, and in about 5 weeks, I was acne free. You have to keep using it though. If you quit, you'll just start breaking out again. Hands down the best BP I've ever used.

Hi, I've using the regimen for a month now. My problem is I have a very dry and my skin is very tight after I wash my face with the cleanser. And I have a noticeable flakes. I am not comfortable wearing make up anymore. I am waiting my Aha package and hopefully it will help my flakes and get a Complexion better. Is this normal? Do I need to reduced the BP application? Any advice about dryness and flakiness pls.. Thanks

Guys,I had the same problem. My make up looked awful. Therefore try using as little as possible,it would perfect if you weren't using any for the first month, because while you are skin is getting used to the regimen(which is hard though),you should help it!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
