Hasn't helped a whole lot, what can i do now?
I have been using this product for about a month now and it hasn't really helped, it does give me dry sore skin from time to time but nothing too bad that moisturiser cant help. I have suffered with acne for about 2 and half years now (on my cheeks and around my mouth and chin) and i'm 19. I have been to the doctors more times than i am able to remember and they have tried different tablets, different creams and nothing has helped. What can i do now?

Could've been better.
This was what I used on my breakout days few months back. I sometimes question if it actually works lol... But it does "dry" it out at some point. I feel like this product has a mind of it's own haha. Only chooses which pimple deserves to die though my friend likes that it works for her but hates the part that it leaves a dark scar on her.

Didn't work for me
I have tried many ways to get rid of the acne on my chin where it is the worst and started to get desperate so tried proactiv+. It made my skin feel smooth and clean and cleared up the minimal acne on my forehead, I was impressed with how little you need to put on, but it did nothing on my chin, if anything it made it worst and actually made it hurt to the point where I had to stop using it. This product kind of works but only on very mild cases of acne so I wouldn't recommend. As I'm only a teenager I'm hoping this is something I will grow out of so I'm not overly bothered but I'm still disappointed that it didn't work as it would have been great to have something guaranteed to work like the ads say

Not good
Honestly this stuff made no difference, and maybe even made my acne problem worse. Absolutely will not buy again

Pretty Redundant
Worked first week, then caused breakouts which I thought was purging. But then onto month 2 and I woke up every morning with a new pimple somewhere. Scars and PIE got darker. skin wasn't red at all for me but got flaky with none of the benefits. Maybe just not for me :/

Please don't give up! If you use it constantly and as directed, hopefully it might lead to better result any time soon :)

NOTHING SPECIAL
Didn't help for my mild to severe acne. Might work on skin that doesn't break out a lot

Product used: The Regimen
2 month review
I've been using the regimen for around 2 months now. I purchased the regimen for both the face and body. I pretty much have acne on my back, face, neck and chest area. I'll start with my back. So far the results have been wonderful. My acne is almost completely healed. The acne that I have now are small in comparison to the cystic acne I had before in this area. I am confident my acne will be completely clear in 4 months. I don't always use twice per day on my back. I always use once per day but somedays time does not permit twice per day usage on my back. Also, I mix the AHA with lotion. It doesn't burn as much with the lotion. My face- My face is still breaking out. I would say it may be even worse or the same as before I started the regimen. My complexion looks brighter but the acne is still here. I do use the regimen twice per day on my face 95% of the time. One month into the regimen, I started mixing the lotion with Jojoba oil in the morning and AHA at night. My skin flaked like no other but the flaking has improved. A few things to note- I am African American my skin flakes on my eyelids and under eyes really bad. The skin turns dark, giving the appearance of raccoon eyes or black eyes. I hate this. I have to wait for the skin to flake off. This is annoying. I am in the sun a lot. I'm not sure the sun is having an effect on my skin but I've starting wearing more sunscreen. My neck and chest - The regimen itches my neck and chest really bad. I don't have this problem with my face and back. I am still having some cystic acne on my neck and chin. My chest is clearing up nicely with occasional breakouts here and there. Overall, I'm going to the give the product a 3 because I'm ecstatic with the results of my back. I'll come back and update at the 4 month mark. If the black eye problem and face acne does not change for the better, I will change my rating.

Aggressive flaking, and redness...Is it working or not?
I started using this regimen about 2 weeks ago, and already my face looks horrible than what it did before I started. My acne hasn't worsened but my face is super dry, flaking, and 2 shades darker than before (around the eyes, nose, and mouth area). I'm trying not to give up on this regimen quite yet because I've been battling with acne, and mild hyper-pigmentation for years now, and after 101 products I've used I thought this would be the answer to my problem! How can I fix this before I completely stop using it?

have u tried it in the front neck area? was curious if it would irritate it
June 15, 2017
Keep using it, just avoid those tender areas. I say if you don't get acne there, don't put it there. I focus on my T-zone and stay away from under my eyes and close to my mouth. Hope it works for you! My skin was dry, irritated and itchy for the first two weeks but now I have no issues. My skin looks awesome.

Update: Acne is still somewhat the same. Added another moisturizer to my regimen (Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer with SPF15) but I mixed both that, and the acne.org moisturizer and finally I can notice the dry skin coming off. My face is now adjusting, and now hoping for more results soon..

Would not recommend
This gel gets a big no from me. I've been using it sparingly every now and then during a big breakout. It did definitely work for the breakouts even ones that were on my face fit weeks with no sign of going away. HOWEVER: I could only use this product once over night (I never used it during the day) on top of moisturiser and Only a minimal amount. If that was done one night and never again, the redness it created would go away fairly quickly. 1-2 days and my skin was fine. The moment I applied it the next night, the next morning I the area was extremely red, EXTREMELY dry which felt like a dry shell created over the area, the area swelled up a little + my skin burnt a bit. Saying that, my skin at the moment is still red to this day (been like this for roughly 4 days now) but it is slowly going away. The area is still raised due to swelling. The dryness is horrid and nothing seems to help. I still get some burning sensation on one area I applied this on my cheek despite not using this for 4 days and having washed my face every evening and morning since. I would only recommend this if your skin is tough and can take the usage of this more than one time in a row.

This happened me to. My face was very badly burnt from this product. Hydrocortisone acetate cream (hc45) prescribed off my doctor got rid of my swelling and the redness/burn this product caused.

I got the same reaction and got prescribed the same from my doctor. How long did it take for your redness and swelling to go down
September 6, 2017
Same! My who skin got red, itchy and pealed. The product definitely works as my sports diminished and transformed into marks just for 2 days. However next time when i use acnecide I will be careful and put only on the sports

Disappointing
I was so excited to try this product, because I had heard that it did wonders for a lot of people. I don't usually have sensitive skin. However, I I reacted quite badly to this cleanser somehow because my face went really red, itchy and a bit swollen. Maybe I'm allegic to benzoyl peroxide or something else in this cleanser, but all the sideaffects I got didn't go completely away until three days later! My face went a tiny bit dry, but that wasn't really a problem at all. It didn't break me out or anything either. I don't think I'm going to try this again because I'm afraid of the side affects and my face getting so irritated. Maybe I just used to much of it, but if you would like to try it I recomend you to do a spatch test first. The smell was really nice though.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
