Pros:

Clears Acne pretty fast
Dries up oily skin

Cons:

Bleaches clothes and towels

It works! Cleared up my adult acne. I tried a lot of treatments before benzac and nothing worked as well. Drinking a lot of water also helps a lot. Definetely recommend it before trying accutane. Accutane helped me for a while but it came back :(, when I tried a second round of accutane my body did not react as well.

Pros:

Works very fast.
Simple and minimum steps.
Leaves your skin feeling soft.

Cons:

Would sting for those who over scrub with the exfoliator. A little pricey but worth it.

There's certainly no quick and permanent fix when it comes to acne. People complain about how after not using a product, they're bombarded with more acne. I'd compare it to losing weight. You's stick with a regime then decide to give yourself a week off from working out to rewarding yourself with treats. Lo and bwhold, you've just gained all that weight back. I suffered from uneven skin tone and very painful acne on my face during my younger years. When i finally gave Proactiv a try, it made me feel normal like everyone else Sure some would find the product pricey but it's how well you portion your dosage. Remember, the kit is a 2 months supply. That's why the price is set at that. In a matter of days, people complimented on how my skin condition was improving, and i had never felt so good about myself. After years of using this product, i have maintained keeping the acne at bay. I'd recommend not to subscribe to this product if you're a first time user, and just buy the products individually if you're worried about what others say when they try to unsubscribe.

Pros:

goes on smooth, no scent, no streaking, gentle, vegan-ish, SUPER affordable

I use purpose gentle cleanser (liquid), this bp treatment, and a super expensive moisturizer full of antioxidants and miracle milk from the teat of your favorite deity that has promised me to keep me young forever. hey, here's to hoping, right? If it works as well as dan's benzoyl peroxide treatment, then I'll be living the dream!! This is the absolute gold standard for any bp treatment out there right now. I've never used a bp treatment that left my skin feeling soothed, like... what? excuse me? I used the regimen all through highschool and college, and tried to be all grown up and switch to retinol and after a lengthy, tear-inducing battle, I came crawling back. But this time, I used dan's product instead of neutrogena and omG: YES. affordable, soothing, fabulous. dried my face out like crazy for the first two weeks since I had to re-adjust. But, I toned down the amount a little, upped my moisturizer game, and looked through old photo booth pictures of my frowning, spotted face for inspiration every time I got frustrated. I'm a few months in now, and I don't use nearly as much as dan instructs, since I find I don't need to, so this bottle should last me well into the next millenium. A few months ago, I had inflamed, under-the-skin acne on my chin + inflammatory blockages on my cheeks + a constant sense of crippling insecurity to clear, smooth, balanced skin and an ability to get it on without turning out the lights. now if only dan would make a cream that would force me to work out.........................

Pros:

- Easy to use

Cons:

- Dries out skin

I've been experimenting with various acne products for the past 6 years... and I can't say that this product has cleared my acne yet. I've been on it for 2months now. I am 27, Asian with sensitive skin and mild/moderate acne. I also scar easily and for a long period. I never broke outwhen I lived in Asia. Since I moved to New York in 2003, I have developed all sorts of allergies and acne. Here is how it's worked out for me: - I am getting a lot of smaller, clogged and bumpy zits on top of my nose, above my lips (where I've never broken out before), chin and forehead. Almost look like sweat beads. - While the zits are not red, they are raised. So under bright lights, my face looks scary. - I am still getting the occassional one or two larger pimples in/around my T-zone. The BP product does not seem to penetrate deep enough to kill the acne bacteria. Instead, the BP seems to harden the bumps so you can't pop them or make them go away. Then, they turn purplish/blackish and have not gone away. I just got an extraction facial from a spa because I was so frustrated. The aesthetician kept saying to me that I have to exfoliate - that's how bad it looked. Even with the professional steam machine and exfoliation, she could not extract all the raised zits because they were so hard and deep. This was my last hope and now I may consider trying the expensive laser treatments.

Pros:

Perfect for Regimen

Clearing up blackheads that have never been cleared up before

Clearing my acne that has almost been impossible to get rid of

Very easy to apply, does not irritate skin 'during application'

Is not visible on skin, before and after application of moisturiser

Cons:

Causes slight tingling on skin, although this is to be expected during usage

I would recommend 100% buying dans products, including the cleanser, BP 2.5%, and moisturiser as they are working perfectly for my skin, and my skin is clearing up, this stuff is working very well, although it causes slight itching on the skin, this is to be expected and is part of the treatment process I payed 80$, which is about £60, because I had to pay large shipping costs, and custom fees, the product itself is very cheap other wise.

Pros:

Works Very Fast
Affordable
Has a sesitive skin line

Cons:

Made my skin a little itchy. (But I have super sensitve skin)

I purchased the Sensitive Skin set, and use it twice a day. I started seeing results in about 2 days. Some say it's drying but I would expect that in any thing with high benzoyl peroxide levels. That is why I also use a moisturizer made by a different company. All in all I'm very happy with it.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Caused severe irritation and an awful rash that looked like acne scars or the chicken pox.

The only thing I can thank the Acne.org Regiment for is showing my (awful) allergy to benzoyl peroxide. I have mildly oily skin which never really gets irritated or dry. I switched to the Acne.org method using Cetaphil cleaner and lotion (which I had used before) and Nutrogena On-The-Spot as the BP. Within the first few days my skin got irritated and I started getting more/larger acne, which from reading reviews seemed normal. Then by the end of the first week I started "scarring." Big red circles that looked like acne scars wherever a zit had been. It looked like I had a disease. I lived with this condition, hoping it would become better, for two awful weeks. I started wearing more makeup (all non comedogenic) to hide it, but it showed through. I was miserable. I finally decided enough was enough and switched to Mary Kay's system for oily skin: a mild cleanser, a Salicylic acid toner, and an oil control lotion. Within one use, not exaggerating, the scarring started to fade. it only took three days to go away completely. Its obvious that the Regiment has worked for a lot of people, but I didn't read a single review of someone with this reaction. I had no idea I was allergic until this so I just wanted there to be a review out there!

Pros:

The promise of beautiful skin

Cons:

Totally dried out skin
Left my face feeling tight and irritated
Feels and looks liked I have aged 10 years over night

While there have obviously been some success stories, I think for it to work for you, you must have very oily skin and a really bad case of acne.. I am in my mid thirties and have been looking after my skin every morning and night since I was a teenager suffering from acne. I still get the odd break out but nothing bad until recently when I started to get very bad acne on my neck which I've never had before... So I thought I'd give proactiv a try as I see it all the time on TV and they make it seem like it works miracles!!! When placing my order I did express my concerns about my age and was reccommended I order the oil free moisturiser. Well I have given it a try, used as directed and would not recommend it to anyone over thirty or anyone with mild acne. There are better products out there that dont cost anywhere near as much. I am going back to my normal routine and hope that these new lines and wrinkles that have appeared on my face since starting the product will go away..

Pros:

Easy to use.
Money Back Guarantee.
Looked Cute?

Cons:

Did NOT Work.
Customer Service a Little Poor.
Pricey.

I have friends that used this product and got good results from using it. I have very oily skin and it did not work for me. The wash was a little ruff on my skin. The toner was a bit drying and would sting. The lotion smelt weird and left my skin very irritated. I disliked this product before the re-formulation and even after. I gave it a 2 only because it worked for my friends, but just wasn't for me I guess?

Pros:

Nothing other then free shipping when you first order.

Cons:

Not as great as they Advertised.
COSTS WAY TO MUCH.

You sign up for a 30 day trial(19.99) and they bill you after the 30 days for a 90 day(67.84) and if you DON'T want it you have to pay around $11 to send it back. And when you call to complain they tell you to send it back.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
