Pros:

I had horrible skin when I started college, I was prescribed the strongest drug possible for acne-Accutane. This helped tremendously. Then I heard about Proactiv, it controls my acne and I have had clear skin ever since. I had used it for about 6 yrs

Cons:

expensive-and they always screw up my billing.

I would never use anything else.

Pros:

This BP gel is awesome. Helped rid my face of acne. i break out lie once every 2 weeks, but the zit goes away after a day or 2.

Cons:

Does very little for blackheads. I cant apply the gel more than once a day, it tends to dry out my skin really bad around my mouth.

I've been using DANS REGIMEN for almost 4 months, and y acne has never been better. plus the products are pretty cheap

Pros:

~I have one or no pimples currently

~I find the Moisturizer a little oily for my oily skin.

Completely worth it. Improves face AND self-esteem.

Pros:

Clears up acne fast
Keeps it gone
Removes excess oil

Cons:

Will dry out skin, use a moisturizer to solve this problem

This stuff is great. It can be found almost anywhere for 5 bucks, and it works better than anything I've ever used. My skin is cleared up completely after only 3 weeks. I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Pros:

Huge tube! Goes on smooth and doesn't dry out my skin.

Cons:

Not available in stores.

This stuff works great! My skin began clearing up immediately and after a few months I wasn't having break outs anymore at all! Then I ran out of it and started using the neutrogena stuff again and within a week I have a huge zit!!! Lesson learned, I will make sure to order before I run out next time!

Pros:

Clears skin great, cleans, and makes skin smooth.

Cons:

It's excepensive and if you skip 1 day your skin will breakout.

It's a good expensive treatment but in the middle of the day wash your face to keep from being oily and breaking out again.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
