Pros:

IT WORKS! Very affordable, minimal irritability, good consistency and no harsh chemical smell.

Cons:

BP does stain fabrics so be really careful and its a must for it to absorb in BEFORE applying moisturizer.

This products does work! Although depending on your acne it may take some time. I always had great skin until my early twenties. For years I have tried everything under the sun (and most of them twice!) I ordered Dan Kern's BP along with other products back in March. I went through several cycles of clear up and break out. Now four months later my skin is clearing up and calming down. I actually went out with out make up for the first time last week! Just be patient it will work!

Pros:

Easy to use, smell was refreshing (aside from the mask).

Cons:

A bit expensive.

I do not have moderate or severe acne, but do have annoying blackheads and whiteheads. Although Proactiv does lessen the amount of breakouts I have during 'that time of the month', they don't take care of the other skin stuff. Moreover, the cleanser seems to have been watered down recently and the astringent runs out about half as a fast as the rest of the stuff -- and I use equal amounts. Lastly, I stopped using this product for a week and my skin went INSANE. WAY more breakouts than I'd ever had before I started using it. Bottom line? I think it'd be great if you had moderate to severe acne. Don't expect it to handle blackheads or whiteheads, however.

Pros:

I have only used this for 3 days and my acne is sure clearing up. I am a young teenager, and spent only 10 dollars (Australian Dollars) at the chemist.

It dries you skin up though, i'm used to it coz i put all sorts of stuff on my face including detol XD

Pros:

I actually do like the smell and they now make it to where you can choose when to deliver and what products you want instead of the origional three step system.

Cons:

It makes my skin VERY dry and flaky both times I tried it this happened and it took me weeks to recover and lots of moisturizer. Not to mention I had so many more breakouts than before I started using the system.

If you have sensitive skin that dries easily I don't recomend this product. Once you start using it the stuff might work for a while but everyone that I know that has used this product say it comes back. Even if you are still using it!

Cons:

Just made my skin REALLY oily and so expensive 4 nothing!I really am never going 2 buy this product again. It makes you feel as though it works but its actually doing nothing.

It doesnt work!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
