Pros:

it works fast, and clears up acne really well. Better than anything I've used

Cons:

dries the crap out of your skin, and leaves red spots. One morning I woke up and my eyes were swollen.

My skin is really sensitive sometimes, so that may be why it made my face look like a sick tomato. But it did clear up my acne really well, and if you don't have sensitive skin, you should try it.

Pros:

This is the best Benzoyl Peroxide product I have ever used in my life, and I have tried many of them. Very effective, easily absorbs into skin without leaving a residue, and does not dry out skin.

Cons:

It is a little bit expensive and you have to order it online. But for me this is well worth it and I am happy to order something that works so well (and it's made by Dan, who genuinely cares about helping people, unlike greedy corporations).

When I first saw this product online I thought it was kind of a joke and was extremely skeptical of it. "What's so special about yet another BP product?" I thought, after all I had tried them all. But when used with Dan's regimen it will totally clear your skin! I had mild to moderate acne for 10 years that was extremely persistant. My skin cleared gradually over 3 months on the regimen and by the end of the 3rd month I was totally clear and haven't had a single pimple in months. Dan's products are the best, and this BP is his "workhorse" as he puts it. I had used countless treatments, including many BP treatments before trying the regimen. I strongly urge you give Dan's regimen a shot and see if it works for you. You don't have to use Dan's products for the regimen to work, but I recommend that you do. These are the best products I've ever tried, especially the BP. Just awesome.

Pros:

It feels really good on my face and feels clean. It cleared up a small portion of my acne.

Cons:

As it has been said, it makes my face considerable dry.

It was alright.

Pros:

You feel like it's a miracle worker once you bought it

Cons:

Everything-Expensive,dried my skin, and too many steps to do

I doesn't work and the lotion later dried my skin. It's too expensive and there are too many steps to follow. It made my acene go worse and started spreading.

Pros:

- None. As for what I saw at least.

Cons:

- Made skin more oily with moisturizer.
- Made too dry without.
- Made pimples much worse.

Proactiv was horrible. And reading all these other reviews, I think it is overall a horrible product. Very deceiving with the commercials, but actually made my face worse than before. Don't buy this product.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Never has worked for me. Makes my skin worse.

Don't purchase this, it's not a good way to help you acne. It maybe be good for spot treating one pimple but even that i don't recommend.

Pros:

absorbs fast and well, nice refreshing feeling when applied, unscented

Cons:

none so far

I have been using a 5% BP for a few years before I switched to Acne.org product so I had no problem adjusting to it--and once I do I can never live without it! The gel doesnt leave white residue like my previous BP cream did, and this product doesn't have the horrible medication scent. Together with the AHA it works wonders for my skin. I used to have very oily skin ( after a couple hours of washing my face it would be shiny with grease again, and I always had acne on the side of my face), but 2 weeks after I using both products together I began to see a difference. Now after 3 month of using both they keep my cheek oil-free the entire day. My forehead is still a little oily towards the end of the day, I still have a zit every once in a while, but my skin is pretty much clear 95% of the time. I still have whiteheads on my nose. but it was a dramatic difference from before!! My twice a day routine: neutrogena pore refining cleanser->toner->BP->AHA.

Pros:

-You feel happy at first because you convince yourself that it is going to work because all of the celebritys endorse it

Cons:

-Expansive
-Drys Skin
-MAKES YOUR SKIN WORSE

Hate the product, but then something amazing happened. While searching around this site i found a treatment that is known as URINE THERAPY. Please do yourself a HUGE favor and just try it out, your skin honestly looks so much better by the end of just one week. Don't waste your time with proactive, find the inner strength to give URINE THERAPY a try!!!!!!!

Pros:

works great! keeps skin from getting oily--my biggest problem was oily skin and my skin feels very smooth all the time now, no grease whatsoever! also, very very inexpensive. i bought mine at a 'dollar general' store.

Cons:

does burn a little but nothing that will drive you crazy. if you don't like dry skin, don't use it, but honestly, it's not super-dry. doesn't flake though!

GREAT PRODUCT!

Pros:

It cleared up my skin in a week and gave my skin a nice glow. My friends really noticed!

Cons:

It stopped working about a month later, after I bought a refill. My eyes also swelled and became itchy when I bought the refill.

I have a feeling they changed something. This product was so great at first, then all of a sudden my eyes got irritated even though I made an effort to avoid them when washing and my skin is now back to where it was :(. Very sad. It seems to work for some people so for the price it certainly doesn't hurt to try it, just be careful as it seems many are having negative reactions.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
