Pros:

it is the only acne line i have ever used that has actually cleared my acne!

Cons:

i have a hard time getting information on the website as far as the other products they sell. i can not seem to look through a full product catalog?

i had beautiful skin until i turned 19....then bam! my skin was a mess! ive been to several dermatologists over the past 17 yrs. only to have very tramatizing experiences followed by temporary relief. i not only have "normal" acne, i also have cystic acne.i have tried every acne line under the sun, from drug store finds to top of the line. 3 yrs ago this past march my husband of 11yrs urged me to go back on proactiv. he stated - and he was 100% correct - that my skin has never been as clear and flawless as it is when i am using proactiv.after a week & 1/2 to 2 weeks of using the line as instructed my skin began to clear.now i can not only run to the store minus the war paint - i can hold my head up high, smile & make eye contact with my clients or whom ever else i happen to meet. using proactiv has made my world a happier place be!

Pros:

Cleared discolorations

Cons:

Skin oily all day
breakouts worse

I have used Clinique Acne system before and it really worked for me. I also used the Better than Ever Skin Corrector which I love. I have been using the acne system this time since July and my acne is worse than ever. My forehead is a map of blackheads and scars. I also have pimples on my neck, cheeks and chin. They seem to last longer at least a week and then the new pimples and blackheads are there to take their place. It's really frustrating and discouraging. I am using as directed but it's just not working. I didn't have breakouts like this in high school. I thought that at 32 I wouldn't have to worry about acne but I was WRONG!!!!!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Burned
Did not work. PERIOD.

This product promised clear skin in a week; faithful to this product, I did NOT see results, my skin only got worse and my face burned. I am very discouraged. I am canceling my graduate photos due to my face's condition. Thought I could depend on this product. Don't make the same mistake that I did.

Pros:

Gel formula
Absorbed well by skin
Feels light on skin

Cons:

Non.e

I live in a humid climate and this BP works wonders because it dries fast, something that my Clinique Acne Solutions didn't do (it would take about 15 minutes to dry). But the Acne.org BP dries in 2 to 3 minutes, but of course I wait a while to apply my moisturizer afterwards to make sure the skin absorbs most of it. LOVE IT!

Pros:

The only good thing from this product is that it works quickly while you keep using it.

Cons:

Once you stop using it your acne comes back terribly.

Overall this product was no good. I mean it's good if you keep using it like forever until your acne is completely gone. On the other hand if you cannot afford to buy it every 3 months or so you just shouldn't even try it out because it'll make your face worse than when you started. It also makes your face extremely dry, to the point where you can't even move it, and it starts to peel. Probably because of all the harsh chemicals put into this product thats definitely not for sensitive skin. Before using Proactiv I only had very light acne, just around my forehead but after I used it and stopped my acne came back like crazy. I got big red pimples all over both of my cheeks in which I never had acne before. I regret ever using this product.

Pros:

cleanser also works as a microdermabrasion
helps with cystic acne along jawline

Cons:

monthly shipments
expensive

i've tried so many different products and have been warned that over age 40 proactive is too harsh for my skin..... however, this is the only product that dries up my cystic acne quickly and keeps it from returning.

Pros:

Gentle, feels nice

Cons:

Barely works, not the *best* smell

Bottom line. It didn't work hardly at all for me. I saw the commercial and got so psyched that "this was the one." Well - no it wasn't. I've used it for like 4 months now and see the SLIGHTEST difference in my skin, if any. It really didn't work for me....unfortunately. Proactiv isn't all it's talked up to be.

Pros:

using with oxy and the pimples are indivisually changing a little bit sooo.

Cons:

Not sure how well it is exactly may take four days per pimple to go away

I might need more time but so far small results are showing but they are there i guess

Pros:

For me?
none.
I gave it a fare shot for quite a few months but this product is not worth the price.

Cons:

It made it a little better for a while and then it made my acne worse. Way worse. The cans suck. I had to keep throwing them out after just a few weeks!

Don't buy it. It will be a waste of your time and money.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
