Pros:

NONE

Cons:

2 Days after using this product, I woke up with my eyes swelled closed from the dramatic allergic reaction I had. I had to drive to the nearest clinic to get a cortzone shot and perscription strength Benedryl and another perscription.

Just because it's designed by dermatologists does not mean it's been proven safe. Fair warning! They claim to have a gentlier formula, but don't trust them.

Pros:

I like that you can apply it using a pad rather than a lotion. less touching of the face the better.

Cons:

I would like to be able to buy the products seperately at a decent price and without having to pay shipping.

so far so good. the terminator works great!

Pros:

goes on clear, easy to use, fairly effective

Cons:

becomes watery when I'm half way through the tube. It was so watery that it slipped from my finger to my new carpet.

Good product but should have warned about shaking well before each usage so that the remaining half of the tube would not have been so watery and wasted.

Pros:

Ok, I haven't seen one perfect review, either you guys dont know how to use it or dont follow directions.... Proactiv has worked extremely well for me. If you're consistent and follow the directions, its works wonders. It has completely cleared me up

Worth Getting provided you use it correctly!

Pros:

The celebrities and stories on the website

Cons:

It makes your skin really dry around the edges, and makes you go red!

I just can't even begin. I got this it cost me £45 (About $80ish)! I started using it, and I really thought that it would work. I've tried so many things and honestly it was the celebs that convinced me to buy it. Well don't even belive any of it. It's CRAP!!! i'm SO gutted! :( My skin looks really bad now and I have far more blemishes than I did before, I'm just so upset right now I can't even tell you. Please don't waste your money on this :(

Pros:

it seems like a great product on tv & makes your skin really smooth when first use.

Cons:

it dried out skin, bleached some of bath towels, too much money & you must use everyday

This is a product that you MUST use everyday or its not going to work meaning you have to keep buying it after you use it all. The first 2 weeks i used it, it work but after missing two days of using it i broke out worse than what my face was before using it. It dried my skin out so bad it started faking and it bleached some bath towels. It's way too much for a product that doesnt work as you think. After it bleached my towels and made my skin worse i started using a walmart brand cleanser which i should have use before buying proactiv. A cleanser thats $5.99 has helped me better. This product sucks, its not worth the money!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
