Pros:

This stuff works...is cheap compared to any RX medication, and you will be back for more. Fast shipping and great cust. service should convince you to try it.

Cons:

I dont see any at all.

I have used everything from benzaclin to accutane....and Im very happy with the results from this product, so much so that I bought this for my GF and my nieces who are just starting to get a glimpse of that rat bastard acne.

Pros:

After a few months of use it worked well and cleared up my face a little but I still had breakouts.

Cons:

When I first started using it proactiv it didn't really help at all. I still had bad skin and breakouts. I have been using proactive for almost a year and now my face is starting to burn terribly every time i use it. Also it BLEACHED my towels!!!

All the hype about Proactiv is a load of bull because it didn't help me very much, it bleached and ruined my towels when i would dry my face with them and now my face burns for hours after using it. For paying as uch as we do on it it should work a whole lot better. It is a waste of money.

Pros:

I had moderate to sometimes severe acne and had tried EVERYTHING (Retin-A, OTC medications). I was skeptical but after being on it for 2 years now I have rarely had a pimple.I ran out last week and BAM - my face broke out. This is a wonderful product!

Cons:

None. Cost wise it stacks up to anything over the counter and is less expensive than dermatologist visits !

I went through medical school hearing about all different types of products. I honestly thought that Proactiv was a bit of a gimmick and did not believe that it would work. I suffered with huge pimples for years and would be embarrassed to sometimes even face clients. I had a friend that had tried it and told me it worked so I ordered it. Please believe me when I say this changed my life. I wake up every morning to clean, clear skin. I only occasionally get a small pimple here or there, nothing like what I was used to having. I waited too long to try this. It's not a gimmick, it truly, truly does work. If I see people battling with acne I try to tell them to use it. Maybe it doesn't work for everybody, but if you don't try how will you ever know ? It took less than 2-3 months to see a huge difference in my skin. Give it at least a month !!!!!! I get 3 bottles of the cleanser and each bottle lasts about a month. It's approx. $50, but compared to OTC meds this is worth it !

Pros:

It is actually clearing up my acne!

Cons:

Dryness and peeling.

The best stuff I've ever used.
April 10, 2008

Pros:

Stops breakouts, not overdrying

Cons:

it's a white cream and not a gel
Expensive

You have to use a lot of it for it to work and that causes my face to turn really pale white because of the cream texture/white color. Buy Dan's instead!

Pros:

Drys your PIMPLES up

Cons:

Over dries you face, turns it red..the scrub as well is to harsh!!!

This product dried my skin only to cause me to break out more..I kept using it beacuse it says that it takes time. Used it for 4 1/2 months and It was gross i always had peeling skin around my acne. Did not work at all for me!! To much step system ..creating a over treated face.

Pros:

Feels good while washing

Cons:

Doesn't work

Proactiv may sound like something thats a miracle..it's not. It's made my face worse. and if you miss one wash you get HORRIBLE breakouts. DON'T USE IT!

Pros:

it DOES clear your skin in a matter of 1 day.It gives you a clean feel to your skin after you go through all the steps.

Cons:

if you dont have terrible skin i would NOT use the toner. it makes your skin peel and irritated.

you should buy this product. its worth the money. go threw all the steps EXCEPT the toner.Use it everynight instead of 2 times a day if you have gentle skin.

Pros:

Actually works, inexpensive, no smell

Cons:

Itchy and dry skin after use

I was using Oxy 10 wash for quite a bit a while ago, but for whatever reason i stopped using it for a few months. My acne came back worse than before i started using it. I just went back and use it again, my face starts to clear in about 3 days. It proves to me that this BP wash actually does something. I'm using this twice a day. My face feels itchy occasionally but it's not bad enough for me to stop using it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
