Pros:

So far its is workin very well in clearing my skin up.I have mild/ moderate acne and have used steroid creams and antebiotcs. However, this seems to be the most effective treatment...

Cons:

Slight dryness around my lips

Effective

Cons:

Small tube :)

I rarely depend on miracle products but this works great! Hey it is worth a try. My skin isn't dry at all, it came back to normal. I clears blackheads around my nose area, and acne as well. I't amazing!! The tube last approximately for a month (I use it daily). I found it is important to let the skin dry before putting it on, and then wait again before moisturizer. My routine: 1.L'Oreal visibly clean - foaming cleanser and scrub 2.Neutrogena on the Spot 3.Olay all day moisture lotion (not greasy) Voila! :D Good luck guys ;*

Pros:

none

Cons:

made me break out worse in places where i never broke out before.

My skin hasnt been the same since trying proactive for one week. I got huge cystic acne that swelled my cheek so much that it also swelled into my eye. i looked disfigured. Since discontinuing it several months ago i get acne constantly around the jaw and cheek, places where i was not prone to break out before. It ruined my skin...

Pros:

Really does the job

Cons:

Seems like your skin gets addicted to it! And possibly causes headaches?!?!

To KB: I also began to have headaches around the time I began to use Proactiv. That was about five years ago and I'm still living with these terrible headaches every single day. For some reason something clicked in my mind that it might be a product that I'm using. I will stop Proactiv and I'll let you know if my headaches were gone. I would recommend Proactiv if you don't experience any side effects, but be prepared to keep buying this product forever, once you start on it, your skin will go back to the same problems if you stop using it.

Cons:

IT DID NOTHING FOR ME except BREAKOUT even more. and made my face even more oiler

this product did no good for me. i wouldnt reccomend it. i have sensitive skin and i heard this was light enough for it.. NOT!... it has the same ingredients as PROACTIVE!

Pros:

It makes your acne less noticable.

Cons:

It takes to long and smells weird. It doesn't clear your skin,it just makes it looks like freckles--well mine anyway! I expected more from it with everyone saying it's "the best"--I was disappointed.

It is overrated. The results could be better and faster so I am going back to Neutrogena!

Pros:

It leaves you with a clean feeling and makes your face shine and if used properly will really work.

Cons:

Its gonna take about a week to really notice a differrence and in order to make a difference you must use in the night and morning and avoid choclate and grease.

it is way better than clean and clear, noxema, purpose, zapyt, terminator, etc.

Pros:

makes pimples go away

Cons:

after awhile my skin has a reverse affect to the products, way too expensive to use consistently (I have bills to pay), takes too long for the package to come when i'm in desperate need to use it, the toner runs out too fast.

i used to use this stuff. goddd! it's awful! the repairing lotion has a weird "smell" after it dries. It smells like garbage! yucck. at first when i began using it, it was a miracle BUT then after awhile my skin got sooooo prone to it and then i would break out like crazy! especially if i skipped one night of not using it i would get bad bad zits the next morning (not too good if you ask me) I think the Refining Mask is the worst! they say in the commercials that you can use it as "on the spot" for zits. oh my god. i've been doing that for at least 2 weeks and it seems that it leaves "burn" marks on my face! I'm african american and have very dark skin, so you could see this dark scars on my face because of that damn mask. My mom was horrified when she saw my skin! she told me to stop using it, and i did. Proactic sucks. all the girls in the commercials complain about their already gorgeous skin. i swear i don't even think they USE Proactiv!

Pros:

Cleans up acne very well, pimples are few and far between. Goes on easy and blends in quickly. Only one step so it is very convenient, takes about 15 seconds to use.

Cons:

Dries skin mildly, can easily be fixed with a light moisturizer. I noticed that it stung and irritated the skin when used after shaving, but I've noticed that with other skin products too. If you shave just give it a few hours before use.

Awesome. Obviously worth the five or six dollars to purchase. It does dry the skin a bit but a light moisturizer will do the trick, and as I said above, the only thing to avoid is using the product after shaving. I've had mild to moderate acne for about five years, and in that time my skin has never looked better than it has in the last month. I've had no bad pimples and only two very small ones, and with good facial cleansing and consistent use of the product twice a day, even these can be eliminated. All in all a great product.

Pros:

- makes some zits go away over night
- makes you feel clean
- boosts self confidence

Cons:

- doesnt smell very good
- runs out fast
- takes some time

Proactiv is the best face treatment i have used so far. After one or two weeks you will see a vast improvement of your face. Although it takes some time, and doesnt just clear your acne over night it, it still works. If you don't have acne, dont use it because it will make your face very dry. You have to give it time and be consistant. Make sure to wash every night, or else you might break out bad. I like proactive alot =]

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
