Pros:

I see a difference and it has only been 3 weeks.

Cons:

It makes my face ridiculously sensitive :(. It hurts to apply any type of lotion to my face after I wash it & it sometimes hurts when I touch or scratch an itch on my face.

I can see that its working & I feel like it helps me avoid touching my face which could also cause breakouts. I just hate that it burns and makes my face hurt.

Pros:

Ive been using it for a week and it really has cleared up my skin

Cons:

IT HURTS LIKE HELL. i cry when i have to put it on. i have really sensitive skin and this just burns the heck out of it. i put it on every night and in the morning it hurts to just touch my face. even putting on moisturizer hurts.

its also super dry and peely. its just gross..so if these side affects dont go away soon i dont know how much longer i can use this stuff for.

Pros:

Improved skin tone. Faster healing rate. Minimal skin irritations.

Cons:

Pricey since most insurances wouldn't cover it due to its anti-wrinkle purpose. Made my skin more sensitive for the first two weeks.

I am 23 and never had acne problem before. Just over a year ago my face started to break out and its degree increases over time. Finally, a friend recommended Differin to me. I've been using it for almost 3 weeks now. It made my skin more sensitive than usual and took me about 2 weeks to get used to it. I broke out more initially but it heals alot faster than before. I do notice a huge improvement with my skin tone. With Differin, you really need a very good sunscreen (I really like Clarins sunscreen) and a cap. Try to stay inside as much as you can. I don't know whether or not if Differin is a permanent solution but it is working so well for me right now.

Pros:

According to my GP, it hopefully would work compared to Dalacin T Topical Solution. Last year I had servere acne, Dalacin cleared it up. Aso long as anti-biotics, now my acne is back, Dalacin has no affect. So I was hopefull?

Cons:

I am in week 1 of the treatment, extreemly dry skin. Takes half hour to apply the cream or a moisturizer (due the EXTREEM PAIN). And my acne seems clearer than what it was. I am using it with Dalacin T Topical Solution and Anti-biotics.

So far the product seems good. Except the dry skin is worrying. I'm using it during the half term break. So when I go back to school, I have clear skin. As well as no braces. <uOverall Opinion</u. Pros: Clears skin quickly. Cons: The dryness and "scalley" skin. Note. Still not sure if i want to recommend the product or not.

Pros:

Differin made my skin really dry at first. Especially around the mouth area. But I must say after about 4 months of use I do see an improvement. But if I miss one night I can guarantee a breakout within a few days. I'm afraid to stop using it.

Cons:

Takes awhile to kick in. Can be costly w/o insurance.

It's ok.... if you are diligent.

Pros:

none

Cons:

didn't help my acne one bit, made my skin sensitive, dry

I know this has worked for many people, but I used it for 3 months and didn't see any results at all. That sucked! So I was switched to retin-a micro and that has given me some real results.
March 17, 2009

Pros:

Makes skin softer. I've tried gel and cream; cream doesn't work as good but it makes your skin SOFT+no need for lotion.

Cons:

Didn't do much for my acne. I used it for about 6 months. You're supposed to see results way before then, but I did not. If anything.

Look at the cons. If anything, it made my acne worse. I wouldn't recommend it. Try another retinoid.

Pros:

it doesnt smell... minimal dryness

Cons:

it doesnt work, shiney skin with the appearance of being oily, redness.

i have been usin differen .3 gel at night only, while using benzoyl peroxide during the day for over 2 months, have seen hardly any if not no progress. My acne is still pretty bad with red scars and increased pimples since ive been on it. I would not recomend this product.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
