A way of using benzoyl peroxide in combination with the topical retinoid, adapalene, that studies show works a bit better than benzoyl peroxide alone. Comes with side effects for the first weeks and can bleach fabric. Note: When used correctly, benzoyl peroxide on its own can completely clear the skin.

Stick with it and you will get results!
I have now almost completed my three month treatment with EpiDuo (along with tetralysal). I am a 25 year old female who suffers from hormonal acne (mild-moderate) since coming off the pill 2 years ago. First 1-2 weeks of epiduo: face was red, burned after application, had to skip one night or so, face peeled. It wasn't pretty but it wasn't all that bad either - I knew these side effects would disappear. I was scared I was allergic but since it didn't itch that bad and the redness would disappear during the day I thought it was fine and continued. 2-4 weeks: acne healed, new pimples were still forming but way less than before. My worst was def my forehead and my chin, this is where I saw the most dramatic improvement. 4-8 weeks: maybe a new pimple or so around ovulation/menstruation, but way smaller than before, not as painful, go away much faster. Sometimes I still got those deep painful ones. Overall though my face looked almost flawless with makeup! WOW! 8-12 weeks: (now) right now I still have a few red marks where recent pimples have resided, but as far as pimples go.. I don't think I have any at the moment? I do still get some closed comedones on my forehead but they are super easy to extract. Honestly, my face is so smooth. I can go grocery shopping without makeup on.... to the gym, see my friends. I still always wear makeup to work/school/events but it looks GOOD and not all bumpy. My selfconfidence is fantastic, I absolutely love it and will continue with epiduo until my 40's or for however long I might need it...

Finally😊
Okay so I'm 16 and I did get maybe 2 or 3 bumps when I was 14 in between my eyebrows but that was it after that it grew bad  pimples will always occur and then I will pop them then it will leave scarring . I then start getting black heads (stubborn ones) on the side of my nose But then my face Start clearing up on its own then now I'm 16 a couple months ago my face just broke out so bad under my chin in between my eyebrows and on the side of my nose but nun on my forehead or cheeks so I went to my doctor she didn't do anything she said it wasn't bad at all (I thought it was lol) but she said for me to use dermesil cleansing bar it worked really good for about 3 months then it stop working because my skin became comfortable with it so I was so mad and stressed I try to keep oily products off because it can cause more pimpes so a few weeks before I went to my derm I decided to cut junk food out my diet I seen a big decrease in my acne and at this time I was only washing day & night with warm water but I still wanted clearer so my derm gave me epudio I've been using for about 2 weeks and see good results my blemish are gone face is smooth . The first few days no burn no nothing finally I started to feel very intense burning it burnt my face so bad it left like burn marks and it dry my face out so much . But I guess that's the work but it doesn't burn any more but I will give this a 10 oh Yea and my face did break out a little when I first start using but sometimes that's just your skin telling you its been a change but I encourage ppl to get it if they dont have it please make an appointment to a local derm .. A miracle cream
Epiduo has been an absolute miracle. I have always suffered with acne on and off since 18, now 30 but for some reason over the last 6 months my skin has been at its very worst. As most sufferers of acne I too have spent hundreds of £s on so called spot killers; Proactive etc. These products just didn't work for me. So I finally bit the bullet and saw my GP who referred me to a Dermatologist who then prescribed me Epiduo. It does give a temporary burning/tingling feeling, but doesnt cause me any redness or irritation. Epiduo dries out the spots very well. My skins is still getting used to the cream but after only 2 weeks there has been major improvements. I use Epiduo along with Lymecycline tablets once a day. I hope the results continue. Only time will tell.

THIS WORKS! Stick with it!!! PLEASEEEE!!!!!
I read sooo many reviews before I tried this! I was so desperate I was a total pizza face! I had around 60-80 zits on the jaw area, Can't count and it was very cystic! I used it the first two days and I woke up and my face was COVERED in white heads. Counted 32 just on one side of my jaw and was horrified and how bad it had made my acne! You have to realize this medicine pulls out ALL of the bad things in your skin so it really does get worse before it gets better. After about a week, I'd say I had about 15 zits new zits left and all the others were healing (still looked nasty!!) Then week 2-4 was just all healing. By week 4 (my 21st birthday) all that was left were some bad scars! I'd say for all the scaring to completely go away it took about 6 months. But it was easy to put cover-up and you could not even notice! PLEASE DO THIS: After all the white heads come up, get a steaming rag and keep in on your problem area, I would do this for about 10 minutes (make sure it stays hot/warm) most of the zits will open up and all ooze out and then clean and put the cream over it (Gross, I know). I think this is key to speed up the healing process (watched a youtube video on this process)

Just started using it
I have acne all over my face. Mostly on my right cheek which is covered and I also have tiny bumps all over my forehead. I also have a lot of whiteheads. I got prescribed epiduo and I'm on my fourth day of using it and tbh I think my acne has gotten worse but I think that's because I have a lot of whiteheads which I'm always popping. After reading all these reviews I'm focused on carrying on for at least 3 months so my acne can finally go away. When I apply it, it doesn't really sting that much. Only mildly. And my skin gets really dry and flakey too so I'm wondering which moisturiser to use? I was thinking on getting aveeno moisturising cream?? I will be back with an update on how things are but so far it's not too bad I guess.

Pros:

Works quickly.
Skin looks and feels amazing.
Once a day application.
Increased confidence.
Not depressed anymore.

Cons:

Photosensitivity.
Skin always slightly reddened.
Causes moisturiser/sunscreen to sting when applying.

31 year old male who has suffered acne since my early teens. Epiduo began working immediately to reduce the painful acne around my chin and nose area. After 2 weeks my skin had cleared and no new acne was forming on my face. 1 month on and my face is completely clear and my skin looks and feels amazing and I am finally feeling happy! I also use epiduo on my nape and upper back but I'm still getting acne on my back but not as bad as it was. Ultimately I'm just glad my face is clear!

Pros:

Clear skin
Fading scars
Smooth skin
More confidence

Cons:

Some burning and itching
Flaking skin and some redness

I NEVER write reviews on products because most of the time it isn't worth my time, but this time I wanted to share, that this stuff really does work! I am 35 and started breaking out on my cheeks and chin a few years ago. I had a LOT of blackheads in my nose and chin (EVERY single pore), and lots of new blackheads and bumps every single day on my cheeks that I'd try and squeeze out and then create scars doing so. I'd also get a couple of those huge cystic zits every month that hurt and took weeks to go away. Well, I've been using Epiduo along with Doxycycline for a month and I haven't gotten more than a couple little new bumps on my cheeks (that went away quickly) and I just started to form a small cyst on my chin a couple days ago (it's period time) and it's already going away and hardly noticeable. My blackheads are slowly clearing out on my nose and chin and the blackheads on my cheeks are WAY better. The scars on my cheeks are also fading. You're supposed to give this 3 months to fully work, but I'm happy to say it's ALREADY working really well. I didn't experience the initial breakout like some people have reported. It does burn, sting, and itch quit a bit, but after the first week that became less for me. It's definitely tolerable. The most annoying thing for me is the flaking around my nose, laugh lines and chin area. I use the Oil of Olay Cleansing System (the face scrubber with the spinning brush) and Cetaphil, and as long as I do that twice a day, it helps remove the flakes. I also use Neutrogena Clear Face spf 30 moisturizer. The moisturizer seems to burn worse than the Epiduo, but it doesn't make me break out like some moisturizers with spf 30 have done. Anyway, all in all, I love this product and I am SO happy to have found it after years of trying EVERYTHING!! As long as you can get past the first week or two, you'll love it. Give it a chance!

Pros:

dries out pimples
helps cystic/hormonal acne

Cons:

can be drying if not used properly
MUST exfoliate to get rid of dead skin from the retin-a

My dermatologist prescribed me Epiduo two weeks ago for my horrible cystic/hormonal acne. I have been suffering from this ever since I went off of birth control about 4 months ago but it was really bad about 3 weeks ago when I was about to begin my cycle. I was at a complete loss!! I have been using natural/organic products on my face because I believe the stuff they sale in drugstores and department stores are scams and that natural products are WAYYY better for our skin. I really did not want to go back on BP products because I had used those in the past and it never really got rid of all my acne and later on it made my acne terrible which is when I stopped using it around February of this year. I am extremely cautious with the prescriptions my doctors prescribe topically because I know my cystic acne is caused by a HORMONE IMBALANCE. Nothing you put on your skin is going to fix that and it must be fixed internally, not with creams you put on your face. So while I still have been getting acne spots because of THAT problem, the epiduo has been working well so far! Only complaint is that the cell turnover caused by the retin-A made my pores on my forehead, chin, and nose get EXTREMELY clogged with dead skin cells. Biore pore strips and Indian Healing Clay mask w/apple cider vinegar saved my life. My routine: (morning) wash face with my dermatologist's green tea facial wash (his own line of products) DIY Toner with bragg's applecider vinegar, green tea, distilled water, few tablespoons of witch hazel; applied all over my face with a few drops of 100% tea tree oil--this makes your skin tingle and feel AMAZING apply a dime/nickel size of jojoba oil depending on my skins needs large pea-sized amount of Coppertone sensitive skin sunscreen (Night) remove eyemakeup with J&J baby soap and splash face with warm water keeping face slightly damp, apply organic honey all over face with cinnamon (let sit for 20+minutes) then wash off apply epiduo

Pros:

My face is completely clear
I can look at myself in the mirror
It isn't too much work
Also helps with scars
Have not had a pimple in months

Cons:

First few weeks burns face
May get dry skin

When I started Epiduo, I sat in my drs office balling because all I wanted was clear skin. I didn't believe my dermatologist but it worked! I have used every product, antibiotic, face wash, ect known to man and this product has done wonders. The first few months may be hard, but you will see results within a week. I have used it for 6 months and all I have left is scars, which are easy to cover up. I read the reviews on this website before I started using it and it gave me hope that I would finally find the answer and I did! If you get bad burning sensation on your face when using it the first few days I would recommend ice packs- that's what I did! Please try this- I promise you'll see results!!!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
