Pros:

Cleared up cystic acne
hastens up healing process
very cheap

Cons:

took a few weeks to see results

I recently turned 33, and I HAD severe acne. Cystic all along my jaw from hormonal imbalance, and all the other smaller Acne. I tried everything except Accutane. I started taking zinc, and two months later I have no acne, and the marks are going away beautifully. Do your research. Can cause copper deficiency, and nausea. So worth trying!

Pros:

Cleared up acne in a week.
Reduces redness.
Reduces oil.

Cons:

None.

I have suffered from acne for a few years and recently it has gotten slightly better, but nothing drastic. Acne.org pointed me in the direction of zinc (Source Naturals Optizinc Zinc Monomethionine 30mg), so I gave it a try in combination with vitamin D3 (Now Foods Vitamin D3). These two supplements have eliminated the final stragglers on my face. Redness has reduced and my oil production has decreased significantly. My face is finally smooth and I honestly believe zinc made the difference.

Pros:

- Proven to work
- Cheap

Cons:

- You have to be consistent

I have been using zinc to treat my light acne for about a year and a half and I can safely say that I haven't found something as effective to greatly diminish my breakouts. I take 22,5 mg in the morning and 22,5 mg before bed.

Pros:

really affordable

Cons:

none as of right now. Do your research to make sure you're not overdosing. Eat on a full stomach!

I've been taking this for 3 weeks now. Seems to be working pretty well in combination with Dan's Regimen. I am approaching my pre-period week, where I usually flare up with at least 5-7 active deep cysts. It's been kept to about 2-3 so far. Red spots and inflammation seem to fade quicker and are less intense. I am grateful for anything that keeps my acne at bay. I'm also using Dan's AHA, and have been eating better and exercising more. I'm taking Jamieson's 25mg of zinc gluconate pills 1x a day. Haven't had any side effects or nausea, as I am diligent about taking it on a full stomach and at the same time every day. Wow, can't believe I didn't try this earlier. BP got my skin good, AHA got my skin better. I'm thinking zinc will get my skin great.

helps in combining
I find that it helps improve my skin to looking more nourished and shinier. My skin looked dull without taking the zinc. It's also helped to keep my hand eczema calm and less dry. But I find it works even better when also taking vitamin A and vitamin e each day as well. I tried taking it on an empty stomach and it gave me a horrible headache. I am taking 30 mg. I feel that even 30 mg is too much. I used to break it in half. But it's fine as long as I take it with a meal.

Better than all these chemically induced products!

Pros:

Clears acne.
Skin is less oily.
Took 2-3 days to notice a difference.

Cons:

Expensive in certain stores.

Hey guys, I made an account specifically for this. It works wonders, literally. I've had acne since about 16. I would rate it mild, but at times I would get 4-5 flare ups at once along with acne that's been active. So that made me go from Proactiv, to Doxycycline (which worked for about 3 months) to experimenting with various foods. I came across someone's blog where they praised the "vitamin" cure. Basically, what they did was take Zinc, Vit A, Vit D, & fish oil. Also, the water intake was bumped way high! Think about the amount you drink now & multiple it by at least 4. So, I had nothing to lose and I went ahead and tried it! Boy... Best decision I have ever made in my life! Within days, my skin started to clear up. It was less oily, the active acne was clearing up, & to my surprise no new acne was forming. So I've been on this for about 2 weeks now and it really did the trick. My skin is slowly but surely becoming more clear, there is no active acne (except one small pimple), absolutely oil less. The only downfall is during the first week my acne scars seemed to have been more visible, but that's over with. I drink a bunch of water, probably around a gallon a day since I'm a 200 lbs 6'2 male. Also, go research Borage oil. I hear that it is a lost secret that truly keeps the skin vibrant, & aids in fading acne scars when applied topically & works from the inside out to clear acne. I actually already ordered a bottle so I'll be back to let you guys know how that goes. Alright guys, give vitamins a try! Just make sure you take the right amount.

Works best with VItamin C

Pros:

Gained muscle Mass
Immediate results with scarring, and everything else

It usually kicks in around your blood stream after 2 - 3 weeks for it to immediately start working, to speed up the results with acne scarring take it at night therefore it works better as you sleep with vitamin C tablets. 35mg Zinc tablets with 1000mg Vitamin C tablets. It cleared up my skin immediately! and on top of that my sense of awareness and small is super sensitive from taking the zinc pills wow!

Pros:

clears up acne, cheap,

Cons:

it's a pill? you have to swallow it.

just go out and get some. 50mg a day worked for me. I started taking them at the same time as I started using tea tree oil so it's hard to say if the zinc is contributing to my improved skin. I like to think that it is! It's worth it. a few buck at most for 100 tablets. Apparently, good for immune system! nice!

Pros:

moderatly affordable, and works like a DREAM!!!

Cons:

NONE!!!!

so I have had acne since I was about 13, (26 now).... and Im so ready to just be done with acne! especially being in the beauty industry, i have tried everything from every line, and everything from the dermatologist. i am one of the unfortunate ones who gets the cystic acne. I was recently at lunch with a friend who gets facials on a regular, and she told me that her facialist recommended taking zinc everyday. She has a pretty sensitive stomach, so she takes ZINC FOOD COMPLEX, which is a lot softer on the stomach. I was reading other reviews for zinc, and the common con is that is makes people sick. I was able to purchase mine from the natural whole foods store, and its a little more expensive, but its worth it so you don't get sick. b/c the zinc is placed with other food elemets so its easier for your body to break down. i have been taking it for about a week, and its totally cleared my sin... and i hope im not jinxing myself for writing this b/c i have a wedding to
