Pros:

Reduced oil. Before I had to dab the excess oil off of my face all day long, and now I don't have to!
I also started applying lemon juice topically overnight and drinking it with my water, but I think taking one 50 mg pill of zinc on top of this added to clarity

Taking 50 mg of zinc daily can't harm you! Zinc can only provide benefits for you. Even if this is not a miracle cure for acne, I believe it aids in preventing acne and is good for your overall health. (I am also on Dan's Regimen)

Pros:

dramatically reduces oil, smooths out skin's texture, begins to eliminate blackheads within a week (for me at least), reduces redness, stops breakouts
--taking 75 mg/day

Cons:

none so far

i have had moderate acne since i was in junior high. my acne isn't severe or cystic, but lots of breakouts. forehead always covered in bumps, red pimples on my cheeks, and obvious, clogged pores on my nose, forehead, and chin. it has been persistent and nothing i've tried has made a difference for more than a week. i'm going to a dermatologist for the third time next week, but am now rethinking this after starting on zinc. i can't believe how much my skin has improved...in just a week! it is now so much more smooth, and 90% of my acne is gone. all of my red scars are also going away. another big thing is that my skin does not get oily in an hour anymore. before i had to blot my skin at least 8 times a day and reapply powder. not anymore. not even once a day. all i can say is that it's worth giving zinc a shot. for a few bucks, what can it hurt? i didn't expect anything out of it and look where it got me. i'm thrilled!

Pros:

clears acne
reduces oil

Cons:

can make you sick if you take too much
too much symtoms: stomach ache, abdominal cramps, nauseua

You must use zinc chelated. this has cleared me 95%. it works! if you do not use it then you will keep getting acne. i am sure it will not work for everyone. i have tried 20 different products and this is the only one that has worked. i take 15 mg 3 times a day. so 45! this will clear your acne 100%. it is all about how much you take! take more if you are not clear. the more you take the more clear you get. seriusly. i took 30mg but now i take 45 and i am finally clear.

Pros:

Face is 75% clearer after a week
Haven't had any new pimples since I started
Cystic acne was gone in about 3 days

Cons:

Can make your stomach turn if taken on empty stomach. I did it one day and threw up about 10 minutes later. Take with FOOD.

I am a 24 year old female who has had clear skin since high school. I did suffer from acne in high school and it just cleared up on its own one day. All of a sudden, it has come back full force! My face was breaking out terribly. I would have a new breakout every day. I even started to get cystic acne. I started researching online on how to control this, and I came across this website where most people had a good experience with Zinc. So I went out and bought it. It has been exactly a week and 2 days that I've been on it and I feel like my face is 75% more clear. I take 50mg of chelated Zinc Gluconate once a day. I also take cod liver oil once a day. Part of my regimen is using a mild face wash and then I put Witch Hazel on my face. I believe the Zinc has been a big factor in clearing up my skin. It's not completely clear but it's much better than it was a week ago!! I was embarrassed to go out in public a week ago and now I don't feel so self conscious. My old breakouts are clearing up, haven't had any new ones since I started the Zinc, scars are healing very fast. So glad I found this and thanks to all the reviews that convinced me to go out and try it =]

Pros:

Reduces oil production

Cons:

Takes time
hasnt fully cured acne but have hope that it would.

Ive been taking GNC zinc 50mg for 2 weeks now and i must say it has reduced oil production dramatically but it hasnt really done much on pimples.I noticed that in the first few days, i had more small zits and whiteheads which are now slowly diminishing as time goes on.However, im still keeping my hopes that it would at least clear my skin.

Pros:

Cheap!

Cons:

None that I have to complain about.

It has really cleared up my skin. I had tried several different acne treatment systems and none were giving me the results I wanted, but I started taking Chelated Zinc to help strengthen my immune system, and I noticed my skin was become visibly more radiant, it's been a lot less oily, and my pores aren't as noticeable! I love it! It's definitely worth a try!

Pros:

cheap, natural, also good for immunity and other body components

Cons:

needs to be taken on the long term-- doesn't work within a few days or weeks; give it at least one month

Many people expect vitamins and supplements to be an INSTANT fix-- it's not. Give it time. Make sure you take zinc on a full stomach. Otherwise, you will get very nauseous and potentially bad stomach pain. Do not exceed 50mg in a day but ask a pharmacist for what dose is right for you.

Pros:

It actually works! It's really improved the texture of my skin - inflammation is way down, much fewer pimples, wayyy less oily, and no cysts at the moment for the first time in ages.

Cons:

I have to take it with a lot of food or I will get sick. I don't usually eat much in one sitting so it's been a bit of a challenge for me - if it's any less than a full stomach I want to throw up.

I was using zinc gluconate (50mg) at first - I noticed a difference after the first few days but then found it was getting inconsistent and I had one really bad breakout. I found chelated zinc at a store and picked that up and I find it works much better. I also read online that soy blocks the absorption of zinc and I was taking it everyday with a meal that has a lot of soy in it so I think that may have been part of the problem. I also make a mask sometimes by crushing one of the gluconate pills with some warm water and a bit of tea tree oil. I leave it on for about 5 minutes. That makes my skin look and feel great and helps heal any scars.
