Cleared black heads and pimples within 1 week
I started off with a 50mg daily supplement by the brand "Sundown Naturals" labeled Zinc 50 mg (As a Zinc Gluconate) Taking the entire 50mg pill for the first week daily with lunch. I'd say the whole pill daily is a bit much so on the second week I split the pill into two pieces. After the first week the black heads on my nose and cheeks are almost gone, the pimples on my chin and around my jawline have completely vanished along with any white heads on my forehead and anywhere else on my face. I've noticed something interesting since taking this supplement... I sleep very deep Zzz Also, food and drinks taste very intense too. I'm 30 years of age and have had problems with acne and oily skin my entire life, I can't believe this actually worked. Check with a doctor before taking this supplement, if you're not suffering from a Zinc deficiency than you'll want to take the lowest mg possible and possibly take this along with a low mg of copper.

Pros:

Seems to be working
Cheap
Boosts your immunity

Cons:

Nausea if not taken with food

I have been battling with cystic acne for the past 6 months and have tried every home remedy that has been suggested by other users on here with little to no success. I have tried it all: BP, tea tree oil, the oil cleansing method, lemon as a tonic and toner, green tea as a tonic and toner, cetaphil, salicylic acid, you name it. I was really trying to go the natural route and avoid antibiotics and costly visits to the dermatologist. I finally had given up and decided it was time to seek professional help when I had to reschedule an interview when a cyst on my cheek decided to grow to the size of a cherry tomato one morning. At this point I had already changed my diet, drastically reduced my caffeine intake and was drinking more water with no success but I figured I still may have some nutritional deficit so I went out and got a multivitamin and zinc since it had such rave reviews and was literally the only non prescription remedy I had not tried yet.I also got some clear calamine lotion to try and reduce the pain and swelling of the tumor on my cheek. The calamine lotion seemed to help quite a bit and also has zinc in it. It reduced the swelling a little and brought a couple of smaller cysts to a head that day and brought the huge one to a head the next day in the shower. I have been taking the zinc for 5 days now and didn't really notice a huge difference until this morning. I mean WOW! All of my pimples seem to be healing. Even the little ones that were starting to come up that I was sure would develop into giant life interfering cysts are starting to shrivel scab up. Also this hard knot that was the remnant of a cyst just disappeared overnight. It is also that time of the month so I figured things would be getting even worse. I was amazed this morning to find that my skin is actually healing. It has to be the zinc. I will check back in a few days and let you know if this is some sort of miracle or just a fluke. I'm going to hold off on the derm for now.

Pros:

Non for me.

Cons:

No cons either.

I rated this item about a month ago and gave it 2/5, and I'm still sticking to that. A month ago I decided to give zinc a nother chance and switched chelated zinc to zinc picolinate. I also upped my dose to 180mg per day and have done this for about four weeks with absolutely no effect. I really don't feel any effect on my body. I'll be reducing my dose to 60mg. Happy to see it's helped so many people here though.

Pros:

Placebo effect in the beginning

Cons:

Definitely broke me out. I thought it was helping but when I realized my acne wasn't getting better but worse, I figured I'd stop it, and mind you, it took me a while to let go of it because I thought it was helping, i thought i had zinc deficiency.

NO NO NO. I almost cried and become so depressed thinking my acne would never go away. Once I stopped zinc, the clump of acne that was forming on my cheek eventually went away...

Pros:

works really well

Cons:

upset stomach if to much at once

Peoples please PLEASE write which sort of zinc your taking eg zinc oxide/zinc gluconate/zince amino chelate etc, AND THE DOSE! HUGE difference-I was on chelated zinc 50mg daily, which was a miracle cure, then switched to zinc gluconate for 4 months, and I was back with terrible acne. Switched back to chelated, skin clear. Zinc definately has the potentially to cure acne but we need to figure out why it's not working for some people

Pros:

*AMAZING!!!! AMAZING!!! AMAZING!!!!
*Inexpensive
*Anti-inflammatory
*no side effects
*a natural remedy
*an essential mineral for an overall support of the immune system
*improves the overall appearance of the skin

Cons:

absolutely no cons. =)

I've struggled with terrible hormonal acne for the last 2 years and it was extremely embarrassing to have clusters of stubborn cystic acne along the jawline and on chin. I tried absolutely everything and nothing worked. However, after using Zinc for about 2 months now I cannot believe how my skin has cleared up!! I am thrilled to say that I am officially pimple free! Initially, for the first week, I was taking 50 mg of zinc daily ( 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg in the evening). However, I then lowered the dosage to just 25 mg a day and I find that 25 mg is still very substantial and works fantastic! I would recommend zinc to everyone!!!!!

Pros:

Zinc works. I'm not 100% clear, but there is a HUGE improvement. I no longer get big breakouts, rather, I get a small pimple here or there. My skin is way less oily too! I can wear less makeup now because I don't really need it except to cover the scars. Just try it!!! I wish I had known about the benefits of zinc years ago!

Cons:

None

I don't like to swallow pills, so I take two zinc lozenges a day (each is 23 mg.) I take them after a meal and have never had and problems with nausea. It's super cheap, I think I got a two month supply for around $6. Also, try the Zinc Margarite cream. I've been using that for a week at night and it makes a huge difference. Basically speeds up the healing process and can shrink some blemishes in just one night. Doesn't dry my skin out more than any other acne products.

Only thing that worked for hormonal acne

Pros:

Less oily and brighter looking skin
Effective after just a few days of using
Cheap and easy to find on drug stores

Cons:

Doesn't cure current pimple on face
Known to cause Copper deficiency so if you take this, also take Copper supplement

I just learned about Zinc in acne.org. And now I made an account just to rave about it and hopefully to help people having the same hormonal acne problem. I'm a 25 year old female. I have had acne in the chin area since high school. It doesn't go away and they are very huge, when a pimple is cured another big one shows up again. It's a depressing cycle. Not only is it ugly but it is very painful as well. I have tried everything. I wash my face with a very gentle facial wash, I always eat healthy and drink a lot of water, I change my pillow cases after a few days, I remove my makeup at night and sleep well. Usual advice to cure acne but nothing seems to work for me. No matter how clean I keep my face it's still there. Then I learned that you can only cure hormonal acne internally. Having read zinc is a possible treatment, I bought 15mg daily supplements from the drug store. Taking Zinc made a huge difference to my skin. Although it did not cure the present pimple on my face, after just a few days of taking it, no new pimple pops up! I have been using this for 2 months and I am happy to say that the last pimple that I had was the one before I took Zinc. I now combine it with Vitamin C supplement. You don't have to take a huge amount of Zinc everyday. I take 15mg of Zinc Gluconate everyday. You can also just take a multivitamin tablet that contains Zinc. If you're a female and you have chin acne especially at that time of the month, you probably have hormonal acne like me. Zinc balances your hormones and taking it can help you a lot. I did not make a review immediately because I want to see it for myself first. I am very satisfied with taking it and I highly recommend it. After 10 years of hormonal acne, I am now pimple free and my skin looks glowing.

Pros:

it cleared my acne in 3 weeks

Cons:

tastes bad, can turn your stomach if taken with empty stomach

TRUST ME. You got nothing to lose by trying this. no side effects. Take 50mg per day. And you will see difference. I haven't had a pimple since I started taking this other than tiny zits. This is better than ANY OTHER products, lotions, antibiotics, prescriptions I have tried. You must try.
