Pros:

Way less oiliness, fewer whiteheads & blackheads, absolutely no pimples. Worked FAST for me. Worth trying!

Cons:

-First day I took it several new cystic pimples sprouted, and I never get them, but they disappeared within 2-3 days more. I think my skin was just getting used to the b5
-I can see how this could get pretty expensive
-makes me pee a lot

I have been taking about 5 g a day of this (the brand Organika) for the past week and my whiteheads (biggest problem) have all but disappeared, my face is way less shiny during the day, and I have zero pimples. I will update perhaps a month down the line. Sadly my scars still remain, I'll figure out something to do about that. P.s., I think it's worth mentioning that my friend who told me about this said that it's not true that the time released pills don't work. She only ever took the time released ones and they cleared up her acne too.

Pros:

- Skin is less oily
- Cystic acne has pretty much disappeared
- Smaller pores

Cons:

- Initial breakout especially around the jawline
- Expensive

I have been taking Vitamin B5 consistently for 2 weeks now and I have noticed a difference in the oiliness in my skin. I still have oily skin but this is gradually reducing and the level is of a more acceptable level - I don't feel like a grease ball anymore! My poors are also noticeably smaller, though my face is still bumpy due to the small scatter of spots - for some reason especially around my jawline. I am hoping that the next few weeks will make more of a dramatic change. I am feeling positive on this and will update again in 2 weeks time.

Pros:

Works very well at clearing skin.

Cons:

Need to use the bathroom alot, but a small price to pay.

I am 32 years old and have had chronic acne since I was 14. I have taken Accutane a few times and a number of other medications, every one was a failure and nothing gave me any consistency. I actually tried B5 when I was 25, not knowing what it was for a month and found it useless. I took a capsule form of it. A few years later I read up on it again, not knowing that the thing I tried earlier called pantothenic acid was actually B5. I ordered it in powder form. I finished my last course of accutane when I was 27 and still had some acne and knew it would come back once I stopped accutane, so I started taking B5 powder for the past 5 years now. I have had no side effects and have lived a normal life since, unlike the torture I was put through the previous 15 years. Its the only thing that ever worked and worked well. If you have tried B5 capsules without success I recommend using the powder form. It tastes horrible but works great. Zinc cream is the best topical I would recommend as well

Pros:

Very good results until now (3 weeks).

Cons:

So many pills to take... I feel like a drug addict. I even hide from others when it's time to take the pills ! Would be easier if I could smoke pantothenic acid ;)

Less oily skin ! Almost acne-free !! I've been taking them for 3 weeks now. I broke out two days after starting with 1-2g/day. I got cystic acne, kind of acne I don't have usually. But I kept on and raised the dosage slowly to 9g. Today, the big pimples are allmost gone, there are still scars, but I also take 100mg of Zinc every day so they should be gone in a week. I take an auto-portrait every 2/3 days, so I really see the difference !

Pros:

My acne is dissapearing with the day!!

Cons:

The only con i can think about is that you have to take alot of pills. But hey if you wanna get rid of your acne than it is worth it!

I learned that vitamine b5 was a ''cure'' when i read the reviews from this and other websites. So i wen to a vitamine store and got the brand of the store. I didn't had any of the side effects(not yet anyway). In a few days no new pimpels where coming. Except the old ones i knew were coming came out. They dissapeard rather quickly. So people when you're thinking about taking the risk then do it. It is worth it!!!

Pros:

- Works quickly
- Effective
- Clears skin
- No side effects (for me)

Cons:

- High dosage required
- Expensive

I'm 16 years old and started developing acne when I was around 12. It started on my forehead but then moved down to my chin and cheeks as I grew older. The acne on my forehead disappeared due to diet, but the amount of acne on my chin and cheeks was embarrassing. My mum found Vitamin B5 and told me to take it, I mean why not - it was worth a shot. Within days the amount of acne I had went down and I felt so much better! I took around 4 x 500 mg and its stopped almost all my breakouts! Definitely recommend this :)

Pros:

reduced severity
makes my skin heal faster
overall better skin

Cons:

not the "miracle cure"

I take 1 gram of this along with 400IU of Vitamin E. If you are trying this, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEEEEEEEASE don't megadose!! Sometimes people think it will only work if you take it in crazy amounts, and everything will be OK because you can just pee it out. NOT THE CASE. It's not good for your stomach and can cause toxicity that can give you PERMANENT hair loss and dry skin. Everything is good until taken in excess. Don't take any more than 1 gram per day. It will help your skin, but don't expect it to be the natural Accutane or anything. It helps but doesn't cure. Give it a try, though :)

Pros:

Cheap & easy

Cons:

Possible side-effects

Worked very well for me. My advice to anyone with persistent acne is give it a try, however:- 1) I used a non-brand Vitamin B5 bought over the internet from a reputable site. It worked for me. Why waste money on an expensive brand. 2) Ignore all the advice and find your own dosage-level. Start on 1g (two tabs) per day for a couple of days and see what happens. I settled at 2g per day. Two tabs in the morning & two at night. 3) If B5 works for you your skin will be much less greasy and more stable - so adjust your washing regimen accordingly. Do not allow your skin to become too dry. If necessary give up soap & just use hot water to wash your face. Generally you must ignore everyone except me and find what works for you - unfortunately this can take weeks/months of trial-and-error.

Works well but be weary of side effects
I used B5 for 2.5 years solid. I am still using it although I have lowered my dosage. Anything less than 5g/day doesn't do much for me. It works best when split into 4 doses. If you supplement with l-carnitine at the same time it boosts the effects. If you decide to try this make sure you are taking a Vitamin-B complex daily to prevent depletion of other vitamins. Some potential side effects are excessive thirst, hair loss, and increased appetite.

Pros:

Completely cleared my skin

Cons:

expensive, appeared to stop working after 2 years!

Wow! I have suffered with my skin since the age of about 13 and it has become the bane of my life as I am now 27 and still suffer with it! I have probably spent thousands of pounds on treatments, antibiotics, micridermabraison, creams, lotions, poitions........ But aside form antibiotics, this is the best thing I have ever tried. People were actually commenting on how good my skin was - how clear and smooth this has never happened before. I started with the 20 pills a day for 3 months and this worked so well, my skin was completely clear! I then gradually decreased the dose to 8 tablets a day and this worked incredibly well for 2 years! Then I went on holiday and when I came back, my skin got worse and worse. I have had a year's break from b5 and have taken antibiotics in between as well as gone back onto a different pill - dianette - but am now back on it and have taken for two days, I haven't noticed s difference yet, but these things take time!
