Pros:

Reduces oil

Cons:

initial breakout, the amount you have to take

I've been taking B5 for about 4 days now, and my skin looks and feels better. My cystic acne that I had cleared up. Now I just have hyperpigmentation from all of my old acne. I did start breaking out with little whiteheads, but those go away fast. B5 really is remarkable. I've tried so many different things (AcneFree, vitamins, home remedies, OTC products). My acne used to make me severely depressed, even suicidal. I've only been using it for several days so it's not good to get my hopes up TOO high. My face used to always be so oily (always blotting) but now I noticed that the amount of oiliness on my face is going down, day by day. I think consistency is the key here. I'll put up another review in a couple weeks.

Pros:

Works great.

Cons:

Minor cons for me

Hi Morning, I personally don't find brand to matter, I used used various brands over the past 5 years. I do think powder works the best. I am actually trying time released as an experiment so I don't need to take powder, but I would recommend the powder if capsules or pill form doesn't work. I have even quit using b-5 a few times in the last few years for only short periods of time, like a week or 2 and had bad breakouts, so I know the B5 works amazing for me. Best of luck..

Pros:

less oily skin, minimizes break out

Cons:

the amount of pills, stomach runs, cost

I've been taking B5 for 2 weeks now. My skin is less oily and my break out minimizes but my skin isn't clear yet. So I am going to give it another 2 weeks to see if there are any further improvements. Basically, I am taking 10mg (20 pills and 4 times a day) per day. I see a significant reduction of oil after my third day. Also, I used to have on average 3 new pimples per day and now I'm only having 1 new pimple in 3-4 days. In terms of the initial break out that people claimed to have, I'm not sure if this is the 'initial break out' - having 1 pimple every 3-4 days and a bunch of whiteheads on my face. But I don't think it got worse before it gets better. (probably because i've been consistently breaking out already) In fact, my break out is minimizing gradually and I received good comments on my skin. I will willing to give it more time. I will update in another 2 weeks or so. Wish me luck!

Pros:

Haven't continued use but effects have lasted. Was on very small dose compared to some contributors here

Cons:

Easiest place to buy in UK is Holland & Barrett but is rather expensive

I took 1 gram tablet a day for 6 months. That was about a year ago now and my acne has not yet come back with any force. I am feeling somewhat oily again but probably due to heating indoors as winter starts - when I get pimples now thy aren't those deep canal under the skin cyst type monsters. TRY IT! It is far better than any topical or serious chemical drug I have ever used.

Pros:

It has made my skin less oily and almost eliminated my acne on my back.

Cons:

Lots of pills to take

If you don't mind taking a lot of pills this is the perfect cure. I take 3 pills four times each day and my back and chest acne is almost completely gone after only 2 weeks. I can't wait to go skinny dipping at Turtle Lake nudist resort in Michigan next summer to show off my new skin!

Pros:

Energy and general wellbeing reduced redness

Cons:

Hard to source in large amounts in nz

I have only just started taking so will be back each week to see how it goes - I have very oily skin and moderate acne around chin. Would love for this to work - have ordered larger quantities from overseas as can only buy 60 tabs at a time in nz which at 10 grams would only last three days for $30! Hopefully they will not take long to arrive or I will we be spending afirtune to fill in the gaps.

Pros:

smaller pores, 95% clear within 7 days

Cons:

cost, amount of vitamins, some hair thinning, initial breakout

I've only been taking B5 at 10mg regularly for 2 weeks, so I don't expect a miracle yet. I have cystic and nodular acne and within 7 days I saw a 95% improvement of my skin. Literally, I only had one pimple. However in the last 3-4 days I am going through another breakout... notably less severe than I've had in the past. I suppose I'm starting my period soon and it will take time for the B5 to work. I also take 50mg of zinc, 4 B complex vitamins, 2 garlic capsules, and 500mg niacinimide per day; and acidolphilus and biotin between meals.

Pros:

Cleared up oil quickly!
Not too expensive
No new cystic acne after 3 days

Cons:

Minor initial breakout
Lots of pills

I only started taking B5 3 days ago, but I've already seen a significant reduction in oil! I used to use an oil wipe like every 3 hours, and today I haven't had to use any! I started on 5g, the next day moved to 7g, and now I'm taking 10g a day. Not sure if it's going to clear up my acne though -- fingers crossed :) Keep fighting the good fight, my comrades!
