Uncertain, will give it a few more months
I was prescribed Estelle, a generic version of Diane due to embarrassing acne I have suffered from since age 14. I take tremendous care of my skin, have cut out dairy, most meats and drink 3L of water a day, yet I still have acne! I've almost finished my first pack - which means it's almost been three months. Before Estelle, my forehead was my major problem area, as it was covered in tiny, rash like pimples. I occasionally had pimples on one side of my cheek, but nothing major. However, acne caused me great humiliation and I'd cringe at the thought of a sleepover or social events where people would see me without makeup. (They were still able to be seen with makeup.). Fast forward three months and my acne is worse than its been in my entire life. My forehead is a tiny bit improved, but I now have big cystic pimples on both sides of my forehead. I also have big cystic like pimples on both sides of my cheeks, at least 10 big pimples on each cheek that I swear follow a pattern. I've also started breaking out on my chin which has never happened before. I'm super disappointed as I've heard from a lot of people that three months is typically the magic number for women's acne to improve, however mines the worst I've ever been. I wanted to give my skin a break from harsh topicals which have dried my skin out and slightly bleached it. I've had no adverse side effects to this pill, but I'm really disappointed with how my skin looks, I may go to the doctors for advice or stick with it a few more months. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated :)

It works, but too many side effects

Pros:

Reduced period pain & other symptoms
Clearer skin

Cons:

Migraines
Moodiness, brain fog, feeling vague
Cost

I took a generic form of Diane-35 for about 18 months due to endometriosis. I bought it cheap through working at a pharmacy, so it worked out to be about $12 AUD, but at other places it's generally at least $20. It helped a lot with reducing cramps and improved my skin, as a bonus. It made it really smooth, got rid of most acne, and reduced oiliness. This made it a lot easier to put on makeup, and I didn't have to blot my nose as frequently to remove shine. I did notice that I felt more vague and a little moody on it. Just not quite myself. Eventually I had to change pills because of migraines - they started very gradually and slowly got worse, and I had no idea they were caused by the pill! Changing to Norimin-28 has mostly got rid of the migraines, but now my skin isn't nice anymore :(

Pros:

Boobs went up a cup and Im hoping more as I have only been on Dianne for 2months. Skin glowing and old scares healing.

Cons:

Weight Gain, price

I have been on Dianne for a very short while. In just two months I have noticed although, I seam to be getting more pimples, my skin is healing much better and glowing. I think my skin is getting worse before it gets better as they say, cleansing itself. Deeper impurities or "Cystic pimples". So thats fine as this happens after a good regime of regular facials too. Old scares from drug use in earlier stages of my life are disapearing. My boobs are growing, yes tender, but who cares, I believe boobs tend to hurt when they are growing or when your on your period. so as long as they continue to grow I can take a little tenderness. I have polysistic ovarian syndrome so Dianne is very good for the treatment. Overall I think Im very happy. I have put on 5kgs. My friends and fam have always said I was to slim. I am 5ft 1 and weight 45kg. I am now 49kg. But if I only put 5kg on then who cares, again, bigger boobs.

Pros:

Less acne, bigger breasts, (birth control? I'm only 15 so maybe they just said it doesn't work because they don't want me having sex.. lol ) oh and definetly less oily hair and skin! Regular period too which is also awesome. =]

Cons:

Mood swings, depression, heaviest periods of my life!

I have been using Diane 35 for about two months now and I am definetly seeing a change in my skin! And the whole breast thing, my mom just commented on it and she said it did look like i have bigger boobs! score! haha. My acne isn't completely gone yet but its getting there so I think I'll hold out for a while. Everyone should know that it takes time for this to work.. it's not like you're going to use it once and see the results tomorrow! Your body has to adjust to the change in your system. P.S You should also know that some people have found that they were bleeding for the first few months. I am included in this stupid category! I bled for about a month straight.. Pretty brutal. But it's alright now. Hope this helped! =]

Pros:

I like to think my acne has gone down...maybe..a little.

Cons:

None for now

I've been on diane for 2 months and a half and still no results...obviously it seems to affect each individual differently but I am sure hoping it's going to work on me in the 6 months time span. From the horror stories I've read re. stopping Diane AND being on Diane I am getting really edgy. When I told my doctor, she didn't think Diane was dangerous at all (clearly she's been chucking presciptions to acne plagued youths over here without a second thought). I have been on atopic creams, antibiotics and they haven't made any noticeable difference, so logically I'm quite frustrated. I shall update if anything has changed in another 2 months...

It reduces acne, but not completely. weight lose.

Cons:

Nauseas

Pros:

improvement of acne, reduced and regular menses and lack of pregnancy

Cons:

weight gain and increased appetite made it difficult to really watch what i ate, low sex drive, dry vagina, terrible mood swings,PMS and cramps, very dry skin that led to flaking and burning sensation around my lips - my lips eventually became black

it improved my skin considerably, but the dry parts ( i have a combination skin) were badly affected. being newly married, the reduced sex drive is a no-no. and the increased weight - i have been struggling to lose weight for a while and just when i managed to do this, the drug takes away some of my effort - guess shall give another pill a try

Pros:

Clear skin after a few months of use. Weight stayed the same.

Cons:

When I get my period and am off the pill for about 6-7 days the acne comes back. I also get really terrible morning sickness and I throw up a lot. If you come off of this pill you will get even worse acne then before. Moodiness is also a big issue.

My main problem with this pill is the fact that you need to stay on it forever in order to battle acne. I don't like to take pills so I really had to consider taking this when my doctor recommended it. I decided to go on it and took Diane for about 10 months. After the 2nd month my skin was great! Even about 4 months after coming off of it my skin was ok. Then it became even worse than before I started taking Diane. Now my skin is so out of control that I've started taking it again, but it's not working the same way it did the first time around. My skin is so terrible and I'm waiting for the Diane to kick in. The morning sickness is also really bad, I've had to stay home from work many mornings because of it. It makes me feel really sick. It's scary to think I'll have to take this for my whole life in order to have good skin, because the moment you come off be prepared to have even worse skin than before.
