Pros:

Good BC
Weight Gain (which is good for me)
Boobs enlargement (for a while)

Cons:

Severe mood swings
Depression
My pimples are showing by large!

It was a good BC I think since nothing happened with me. But it came worst when I stopped it. I had vaginal infection, breakthrough bleeding or bleeding between periods, my mood is very terrible and I was always depressed and felt paranoid. Though it gave me a good shape, since I was really very slender, now I gained weight. But for me it wasn't a cure to my acne, it worsened it. I cleared out my face through a clearing soap I've used. To sum it all, I give Diane 50% yes to BC, and 50% no to acne treatment. Well, this is just in my case. I believe it is situational, as I read through the articles above.

Pros:

- acne cleared up within a couple months
- no mood swings or depression (that I noticed at least)
- no babies (it is now approved to use as birth control in Canada)

Cons:

- after being on it for about 6 months my hair started falling out a lot
- gained about 10 lbs (but lost it fairly quickly)

I was put on Diane 35 by my dermatologist for acne (although I later used it for actual birth control), after trying many topical treatments as well as oral medications such as tetracycline and minocycline I think it was called? At first I thought it was great, before I started the Diane 35 my forehead was constantly covered in a whole bunch of really small pimples, and those all went away within a couple months. However last winter I noticed my hair started falling out a lot more than usual (if I ran my fingers through my hair I would be pulling out clumps, and I was clogging the shower drain). When it didn't stop when winter was over (originally I thought my scalp might just be dry or something), and after going through a whole bunch of blood tests, my doctor thought it might have been caused by the Diane pills. So I just switched a couple weeks ago to ortho-lo. I didn't know other people were having the hair loss problem also with Diane, and I was wondering if there was someone who could tell me how long after they stopped the pill until their hair stopped falling out?? So I would watch for the hair loss problem, but otherwise it worked great for acne!

Pros:

the nausea has stopped!!!
a little weight gain (yes thats a good thing)
no PMS!! yay!!!

Cons:

boobs are really tender
still some acne
skin is drying out a little

I'm back and ready to be brutally honest about this product! at the time of my first review i had been on Diana 35 for a month that was about 2 months ago and to tell you the truth not much has changed....which leads me to believe that this product will work really well for it's indented use as a BC but if you looking for immediate relief from acne then this is not the direction you should be headed in. i do believe that it does work (just slowly) because every week i see a little less redness and a little less acne, iv also been using a very good moisturising face soap and i dont wear make up in the week anymore (that helps!!!!) but all in all i have faith in Diane and I'm patient, good things that last take time...if people dont like what they see then they shouldn't look! XD

Pros:

fewer smaller pimples without inflammation, less oily skin

Cons:

Decreased libido, bloated feeling, "massive hair loss!!"

I started taking Diane 35 after 2 sittings of glycolic peels left me with huge inflammed never drying pimples mainly on my cheeks! they were horribly angry looking pimples. I ditched my dermat and decided to take Diane. It worked wonder. Quickly dried up my acne, very few small non-inflammed pimples. I was happy, it was working! But during 1 week of gap I noticed my hair falling out like a thick ribbon!! I cried all morning :,( I discontinued it after that and now started isotretinoin from another dermat. But my roomie took Diane 35 for 5-6 months. She didnt had hair loss and is relatively pimple free for abt 1 and half yr. She also had moderately severe acne on face, back and chest, with family history. So, i say, try it .... and if u've hair loss like me discontinue it. But if no major side effect then it's the best! Good luck!

Pros:

soft,shiny hair
breast growth

Cons:

mood swings
one day of nausea
currently have worse acne (only been on pill for a week)

I have been on this pill for a week, so obviously i cant give a full review, but since i started diane i have noticed both pros and cons. i am now getting cystic acne, which I hear is normal at first. my acne almost looks rash like. im hoping it all clears up. so far, i find it worth it after reading these reviews. my side affects havent been so bad for the first week, and as long as my acne clears up eventually, its worth it. im a little worried about it getting worse, i am starting to notice more new blemishes. I am also on stieva-a and minocycline. i will give a better review in a few months. if anyone has any advice, greatly appreciated!

Pros:

Breasts got WAY bigger, contraceptive, maintenance while transitioning off Accutane

Cons:

Chinese food cravings!!, breast are friggin SORE all the time. Weight gain, Frequent gas (maybe it's the chinese food?)

Seems to be doing it's job,my husband likes the big breast thing, since i'm an A cup, this is a nice alternative to plastic surgery as right now I'm pushing a C cup! I have gained about 5 lbs since being on it for 2 months which again could just be all the Chinese food i'm eating. Or the bigger breasts?? Hmmm...the extream tenderness i quite irritating. I have excellent medical coverage and usually get my prescription free, sometimes I have to pay a dollar or so. Of all the BC i've used this one is my least favorite but i need it for maintence since being on Accutane (whole other thread).

Pros:

clear skin

Cons:

weight gain, and once you stop taking diane 35, your hair on your head falls out

I have been on Diane 36 for 6 months. It was great in keeping my skin smooth, it wasn't that bad to begin with though. I stopped taking Diane after 6 months because I gained about 8lbs with it.. and I didn't like the way it made me feel. Three months after stopping, the hair on my head is falling out. It has been two months and is still falling out. I lost half my hair already but from what I heard, it is common for that to happen. I hope it will grow back. You got to weigh your option.. If it wasn't for the hairloss, i would say it is a great birth control, but my hair is important to me so for me it is not a choice.

Pros:

less oily skin, some control over acne

Cons:

manageable. feeling of vomiting in initial days of starting each pack, slight body ache, excessive dryness around lips, red acne marks remain

i have been on diane for the past two months and there are slight improvements in acne. however, it is to be noted that one needs to make lifestyle changes too to overcome acne fully. drinking plenty of water, controlling ur diet (less spicy, oily food), eating more fruits, exercising, being less stressed, keeping your body and face well moisturized are very important. i have also been using sebamed products on the advise of my doc.

Pros:

clears up skin

Cons:

cellulite, acne will get worse if you stop, nausea

i have been on and off this pill for almost 5 years and i can say that it has helped me and yet destroyed me. right now, my hair is sooo freakin thin, my acne is worse than before...if you dont take it on time. it will haunt u. my skin was pretty clear for all those years of taking it..and since it was getting clear, i forget to take some tablets at times. my bad. my acne came back.and right now im taking it religiously. it has been almost 1 month but i dont see significant results.hopefully my old skin will come back in 3 months. i am sad because i want to stop taking this pill..sooner or later i would start a family and get pregnant. i really hate what this pill is doing to me. i am just sooo sad right now. to those who found other alternatives of clearing their skin when stopping this pill...pls let me know. i would love to hear from u. TY!!
