Pros:

affordability

Cons:

very dry skin- face, hands, feet
still get cystic acne - more than 3 at a time
mood swings

I have acne vulgaris(cystic acne) that doctors say is caused by imbalanced hormones. I have tried everything on the market from Accutane(twice) to homeopathy and nothing has worked. Diane 35 does not seem to be working after a year of use. I am getting 3 or more cysts at a time and they are very sore. I have not noticed any weight gain but I sure do have very dry skin on my hands and face. I am thinking of quitting but am curious as to what will happen. I have so many scars and I hate how I look when I have these embarrassing cysts on my face. Have not noticed the breast increase either. Mood swings - yes. Depression - sometimes. Sex drive - some. Not sure where to go with this one.

still waiting for improvements
I'm just starting my 3rd month taking this pill, I can tell there are some improvement by now but nothing extraordinary. my skin is definitely a lot softer than how it used to be, but I'm still not totally acne-free. I'm very positive about Diane, so I'm still gonna take it for now, will update later!

Hey how's your skin now? I'm also on my 3rd month and am experiencing the same..

Need reassurance please!!
Help me!!! I've suffered severe acne since I was 12, I'm now 36. This last few months its gone absolutely crazy. My Dr finally let me go on Estelle35. I'm only just finishing up my 1st strip(month) but it's gotten even worse!!. My acne was usually localised on my chin/mouth area. Now it's attacking around my nose, huge awful multipling cysts! I'm struggling to stay positive. Please how long until I see any results? Does it get worse before it gets better??

Ok I'm just starting my 2nd month, so we're roughly at the same point. I'm exactly the same 10x worse & new affected areas. I know :( its so awful & it's so depressing. I'm going to try push through though, maybe this is normal? Reading others comments they saw results at 3rd/4th month. We can try support each other through this terrible stage & keep each other updated on results? A understanding, sympathetic buddy might b helpful :)

Pros:

- reduced acne and facial oil
- finer skin, smaller pores
- larger breasts (mainly due to overall weight gain)

Cons:

- severe weight gain (15lbs)
- cellulose (especially around
- bloating of the stomach
- irregular periods
- nausea (especially in the morning)

I was on this drug for around 4 months, and it ended up clearing up all my acne and I had much finer skin (most noticeably the size reduction of facial pores). However, I only started noticing a significant difference at around 1.5 months into the course; thinner/finer skin, smoother appearance and feel, especially around the nose area. However one of the major downsides after 1-2 months of consumption of the drug was the weight gain, as well as the build-up of cellulose and fat around the thighs, lower waste, face(cheeks started to bloat significantly), and an increased layer of fat above the abdomen. I strongly DO NOT recommend this product to those who are insecure or relatively sensitive about their body weight. Only resort to this drug if you are suffering from severe acne. There are other drugs out there that can improve your skin and not cause you to bloat.

Pros:

clear skin, bigger breasts (for those who want them), controlled hormones and made period regular and decreased period pain.

Cons:

increases appetite, weight gain, DEPRESSION, unstable mood

i had to stop taking this pill before i was going to go crazy!!! It completely changed my mood! I took it for one month and have never felt so depressed and down and was crying for no reason. I would rather have a face full of pimples than feel the way i did. This is my fifth day off it and im starting to feel like myself again! However, everyone is different and if you want to put up with the depression to finalise the your skin condition, than go for it!

Pros:

Cleared up my skin beautifully....my skin was glowing.

Cons:

Massive hair loss, irritable, weight gain, lethargic.

The most distressing side effect was my hair loss which became noticable about four months into taking this pill. I didn't realise at the time that any of my problems were a result of Diane 35 so I continued taking it for another few months but after yet another shower and holding another fist full of hair I decided that it must be the Diane 35 so there and then I stopped taking this pill. Within a week or so my mood lifted noticeably, I had more energy and I wasn't so irritable with everybody. My hair loss has eased up and I can breath a sigh of relief. I hope it grows back thick again. I can tell you, for a woman to start losing her hair is among one of the most distressing things out and until it happens to you personally you wouldn't begin to understand. My pimples have returned but not as bad as they were before as I have changed my diet and I take suppliments. I would rather have a few pimples than no hair and depression anyday. I curse the day I was prescribed this nasty pill.

Pros:

this pill was the only thing to really clear up my moderate-severe acne. i was amazed with the results. it also lightened my period, and my cramps were gone! I'd been on accutane, tetricyclene, and so many others , and I had reccomended this pill.

Cons:

I've begun to realize that since taking this pill,(3 yrs)Ive gained 30 lbs.It may be related som to food habits, but all in all, after talking to others i'm sure its keeping my weight on. I also have vaginal dryness, lack of libido, and depression.

Basically, try other things before this pill, and if you do go on this pill for acne, which it was a miracle for, dont be a fool like me and stay on it for 3 years because im starting to realize that its made such a negative impact on my well being, my depression has to do with my body image, the fact that i feel so unattractive. Other girls have told me that the second they got off diane, they could loose the weight. Its also costly compared to other pills (about 30 bucks a pack). Because my symptoms were not obviously connected, it took a while to realize that diane 35 has caused these things. Ive decided to go off of it alltogether and see how my body reacts. I cant remember the last time I had an orgasm. Its terrible. I am afraid of getting bad acne again but at this point- Im willing to try something else again. I think its a smaller price to pay. I'd reccomend this pill for 6-8 months, but once your acne gets better, you should get off of it.

Pros:

cleared acne
reduced oil production
regulated period

Cons:

DEPRESSION
Acne came back worse than ever after I stopped using Diane due to mood problems

Diane did the job when it came to reducing acne and oil production however the trade-off is that I constantly felt uneasy, anxious, paranoid when I used to be a generally a cheery and passive person. In hindsight, I would not have taken Diane in the first place because I'd rather have bad skin than being an emotional wreck all the time. On top of that, now that I am off the pill my acne came back even worse than before, it's even on my chest and back where I never had a problem with before.

Pros:

clears your skin

Cons:

Makes you gain weight.
Has way to many side effects.

I just think that it is not worth it to take these pills with all the side effects. It just ruins everything,
