Pros:

Lighter periods, no weight gain

Cons:

Made my skin much worse, caused breakouts where I've never had acne before, headaches, sickness, tiredness

It would seem that Dianette does work for a lot of people but for me personally it's been a nightmare. Within the first 3 months of starting the medication I developed incredibly sore boils all over my top lip and around my mouth which I had never had before. I always feel really sick when starting Dianette again after the 7 day break each month and I get quite a few headaches and tiredness (though it is possible the latter is just me needing more sleep). I've been taking Dianette for nearly a year in the hope it would eventually start working but my skin has just got worse and worse and now the acne's spreading to my cheeks, which have always been clear. So that's really gutting. I have 2 more days to take Dianette and then I'm switching over to Cilest on the advice of my doctor. I've read that Dianette is one of the strongest pills out there and I think people should be careful with it.

Pros:

Skin cleared up, i was getting these large spots once i came off my old pill. These stopped once i started taking dianette. However, i still get the occasional large spot on my back or shoulder. Blackheads and open pores still a problem.

Cons:

The mood swings are unbearable. Also i'm so tired all the time. I'm crawling out of the bed after 10 hours sleep. My boyfriend is going to leave me if i don't stop overreacting and crying all the time. I've put on about a stone in weight.

Don't use it. I never made the link with the pill until my boyfriend shouted it at me this morning after another tantrum. Although my skin is ok, not perfect, but ok, it's not worth the moodswings. They're making my life unbearable. Definatly not taking it anymore.

Pros:

Skin a little better, with less of the really painful spots. Also less greasy. Spots on back and chest gone. Went up from an a/b to a c/d cup in a month

Cons:

MOOD SWINGS: really bad, even noticeable after a few days of taking them. Gained stone in a month.

Not sure if it is worth it. Skin not totally clear with up and down stages, and crying, depression and irritability worse to deal with I think. Also being fat is probably just as confidence shattering as spots, especially when in the space of a month you can't fit into your clothes.

Pros:

Not alot. My spots weren't as angry but i still got them all the time.

Cons:

Feeling very sick, bad stomach, dizziness, feeling low and very emotional, palpitations...not great!! Spots also didn't change that much.

Personally it didn't agree with me atall. I went on it for two reasons. 1)to help prevent me from getting cysts (which i suffer from) and 2)to clear up my spots. I've been on Dianette for just under 6 months but today i've decided to stop taking it as i was fedup of feeling so unwell and down! I just hope i'm back to my normal happy, energetic self very soon!

Pros:

None so far

Cons:

Nausea, bloating, moodiness. Skin worse than ever.

I'm 31 and I've been suffering with acne since my late teens. I've been taking this for about 8 days and was feeling quite nauseous for about the first 5 but this has now subsided. I don't feel depressed exactly but I seem to over-react emotionally to everything. I felt close to tears at the supermarket because someone brushed past me roughly. This is not typical behaviour for me! My skin was not terrible before, but now it is! I've broken out all around my chin and on my neck and chest where I didn't have any spots before. I'm hoping this is because it has to get worse before it gets better. I don't want to jump to any conclusions about the effectiveness of this medication yet but I am certain it's affecting my body and mind in lots of ways. I'm not really sure it's worth it to improve my (not so terrible) acne. Also, why are doctors so keen to prescribe this? My doctor wouldn't even consider offering me any alternative so basically I have to try this before I can have anything else.

Pros:

I have been taking this pill for about a month, and my spots have cleared up slightly.

Cons:

However this pill has made me feel awfull- depressed, emotionally numb, always crying. I do not feel myself atall since taking this pill, and I am going to stop taking it immediately, as the research I have done has shown a link to depression.

I would much rather put up with spots than have to deal with what the feelings I have experienced due to Dianette. You only have to type the name in on google to see how many articles warning you about the pill come up. The fact that it is given out to young women without warning them of the risks is WRONG. I cant believe what I have read this morning, and I certainly advise anyone who is thinking about taking this pill to research the risks fully before starting it, as your doctor will not warn you of the risks properly.

Dissapointing

Pros:

Could have worked if I stayed on it

Cons:

Made my blood pressure sky high
Bad reaction

My doctor prescribed me dianette and the day after I started taking it I had the worst migraine I've ever had in my entire life, every time I stood up or sat down I felt like I was going to pass out and I had a constant thumping in my head. I didn't associate the migraines with dianette so I continued to take it for another couple of weeks. I then made an appointment with my doctor about the migraines, and we discovered that my blood pressure was extremely high due to the dianette. She told me to stop taking the tablets immediately and that I was never to take tablets containing estrogen ever again. I didn't see an improvement in my skin, but I wasn't taking the tablets for very long, they may have helped if I'd continued to take them but couldn't cope with the headaches!

Pros:

No bad mood so far whereas Yasmin made me a horrible moody bitch

Cons:

Headaches however this now has gone Touch wood
Tiredness
Initial break out
More hungry but not caving in to overeating, last thing I want is a fat body as well as a spotty face

Only on my tenth day today so still early to comment on my skin , my skins looking worse ATM so it either means Im having an initial breakout on dianette or the lymecycline Ive been on for last two weeks could be doing that !

Pros:

Bigger breasts
Free on NHS

Cons:

Didn't improve acne, possibly made it worse
Huge increase in appetite resulted in weight gain
Mood swings

Hello, I used this for 6 months for acne, with no improvement, I feel it made acne worse. The reason decided to put this review up is that it seemed to improve everyone's acne, so it must be a good treatment for most people, but incase there's someone in my situation as confused as I am, it is possible that dianette can make your acne worse, even though it works for the majority
